I loved seeing Ana Lucia again. And welcome to PIFeedback!

As for the premiere, honestly one of the best ever! Action packed, revealing, nostalgic (Ana Lucia!) and hilarious!
"LOST" seems to have a double edged word-of-mouth. You have media and fans saying how wonderfully written and awsome it is, but then they tell people not to bother trying to get into it because it's too convoluted. Which is true.

Any thoughts on how it will do next week?
It should do better since Criminal Minds will be in rerun for the next two weeks.
The other (better) crime procedural being a rerun should do good things or Lie to Me, but Lost isn't the kind of show that picks up a lot of viewers from that. Maybe it can stall the enevitable after premiere drop a bit though.
CSI: NY (Viewers; #1, 11.75 million; A18-49: #2, 3.0/ 8).
I wouldn't call this a loser by any means, but I'm not sure if it earned being called a winner. Yes it was number one in viewers in the time period but not by much and it was a weak second in the demo. I mean it was closer to Law & Order in the demo that to LOST. Plus it's performance was below average.
Marc, MediaLife Magazine had a much more positive assessment of Lost's performance compared to last year:
"Like just about everything else on broadcast, “Lost” saw a substantial dip compared to last year for last night’s season debut. But it still gave ABC a big boost on a night where it has struggled, even against the much-hyped premiere of Fox’s “Lie to Me.”
“Lost” averaged a 5.0 adults 18-49 rating for its two-hour debut at 9 p.m., according to Nielsen overnights, down 25 percent from last season’s 6.7 for its premiere.
Last year “Lost” aired against weak competition at the height of the writers’ strike. Last night it had much tougher competition and in fact did not even win its timeslot in its first hour. “Lie,” which got a cushy “American Idol” lead-in, bettered “Lost” by 0.1 at 9 p.m., averaging a 5.2 to the ABC drama’s 5.1.
“Lost” did revive ABC’s Wednesday, where the network had been lagging for months with a trio of second-year dramas. The network finished second on the night behind Fox, with the network's best performance in the timeslot for a regularly scheduled scripted series since May 2007."
Last year, Lost premiered on a writer's strike afflicted Thursday night... so no American Idol lead-in affect. Its main competition? Don't Forget the Lyrics, Celebrity Apprentice and a repeat of CSI...
Last night? Highly promoted debut of post-Idol Lie to Me and an original Criminal Minds.
LIE TO ME - I caught some glimpses of this and want a bit more. It appeared like a decent production and well acted.
But may I ask an obvious question. Is lying all that of an interesting phenomenon to build a show around?
LOST - just a question, not a criticism. At some point, can a show lose its soul by getting so immersed in process? At some point last night, the word "sophistry" crossed my mind.

Lie to Me is going to plummet in the finals. Idol ran at least 3 minutes into the 9pm half hour.
Lost was great, though I definitely feel like this season is going to be moving chess pieces a la LotR's The Two Towers leading to some serious amazement in season six a la Return of the King. Great to see Ana Lucia (in a hilariously ironic role that has Michelle Rodriguez warn against reckless driving and getting arrested) and Ms. Hawking in those final moments.
To an extent that is true, Fox normally doesn't have that kind of performance in that hour, plus CM was very strong. Also Lost, like 24, heroes etc. isn't going to pick up new viewers at this stage of the game. If you haven't started now and you're 4 seasons in it would very difficult to just jump in now. I've seen every episode since Day 1 and still don't know what's going on half the time Actually I wasn't too confused by last night. The 8pm recap definitely helped.

Lost is a fraud basically. The writers/producers are so in love with themselves that in the end only their families will remain to watch the show. It'll go under 10 million very quickly, maybe even next week. Don't be shocked if CM will beat in 3 weeks Lost in demos
Fox has released "time-zone adjusted fast nationals" for Lie to Me just as it did for the Idol premiere last Tuesday. Here are the numbers for the pilot (which aired 9:03pm to 10:06pm)...
- 12.4 million viewers - 4.9 A18-49 (share not calculated)
These numbers will be much closer to the finals than the 13.19 million viewers and 5.2/13 A18-49 figure.
Lost is THE show that gets me crazy every time it goes to a commercial. I have a few people over to watch it and we all scream at the screen every time we're left hanging and it's really the only show on TV that gets me that involved in the show. Well... ever since they canceled Viva Laughlin of course.
Originally posted by Twins12: Gary Unmarried is really starting to lose steam. It was building a little bit on Old Christine earlier in the season now it loses viewers every week, and the .1 demo increase is almost like losing demo considering the higher rated 830 time slot.
Much like the Monday sitcoms, though, one is available to watch online (Gary Unmarried) and one is not (TNAoOC). If you take away the online viewing option, you can get a boost in the TV viewing.
