Ah pisher, looks like you are not renewing your membership in the Pushing Daisies Fan Club.
Maybe I'd join if the fans were those sharp deadly iron ones they use in the kung fu movies.

PD isn't ABC's problem next year.
It's sure as hell not CBS's problem next year--nor NBC's, nor FOX's, and it's not high on CW's list of worries either.

DSM, ES, and to a degree BL will struggle much worse than it. If PP goes into a slump, then ABC is in deep trouble.
Because that's the closest thing to a successful show ABC kicked off this past season--and PD comes very close to being the farthest thing.

Okay. If there was a shrugging emoticon thingy on this forum, I'd be using it now.

There are a lot of people who love watching cars. The NASCAR crowd is already into it.
And not PD? How very odd.
PD is going to get creamed in that timeslot. ABC is not going to be pleased with that. I really don't know why I have to keep restating the obvious. Though I have my guesses.
WOW, never heard of a week-to-week gain of 2 million viewers and 10% in the demo, described as 'Meaningless'.
Not even CSI: miami was able to do that despite the absence of Medium from the night.

Exactly. RoE never has to go up against DwtS and it always has the mega-lead-in of 2&1/2Men. For a finale, it didn't even have to go against fellow sitcom Samantha Who?. The growth for RoE last night is almost meaningless.

Second, Yes, DWTS was not on at 9pm, but it was the sitcoms that captured those viewers.
2.5 Men's bump was just at about a million viewers from last week, but Rules... jumped nearly 2 million viewers from last week.
Rules held on to about 83% of MENs viewers and about 90% of the demo.
Nice numbers to close out on.

I mean, it is plain and simple, no DWTS so the 9:00 shows both got bump ups.
We will never find out about Rules until it moves out of that 9:30 time slot. It is the only "protected" CBS sitcom. HIMYM was on at 8:00 in its second season, now BBT in its first season is in that horrible time slot. Old Christine was moved to 8:30 last season, and now has the horrible 8:00 time slot next season. Let's see Rules earn its keep, and stop taking whatever Men gives it, and then I will praise it. It is the only untested CBS sitcom.
And by the way, the reason Rules went up 2 million was because no SW this week, so it got the whole sitcom audience at 9:30.
there are plenty of comedies that are "protected"...
30 rock samantha who scrubs rules
of all of them only rules brings in good numbers when the lead-in is in repeat mode. scrubs falls, samantha collapses and 30 rock is doa....but rules holds up...
you call it protected but others may call it mistreated...only on 1/2 the year yet brings in good numbers...imo cbs needs to cultivate this show as it has strength...last nights episode was very funny...

Couldn't be that people actually enjoy the show, is it?
I still say ROE is the only "protected" CBS sitcom. When we see it prove itself in a difficult time slot like the other sitcoms have done, I will be the first to give it its due.
because we all know that cbs wants to please you...

As for CW's fate, the entities behind it have very deep pockets, Warner Bros. probably just lost more money on Speed Racer than they did on CW all of last year. Expect all those hybrid cars on the CW shows to be replaced with Speed Race makegoods next Fall.
CW will not fold due to 'financial ruin'. The money envolved is a pitance of what these companies have as overall budgets.
The entities behind WB and UPN had very deep pockets, and now where we had two 'weblets', each running 12 hours of programming a week, we have one weblet running 10 hours of programming a week, plus whatever the hell MyNetwork is.
Deep pockets kept the Concorde in the air a long time, but eventually the deep pockets realize they aren't depthless, and that a mistake is a mistake, no matter how expensive and painful to admit.

Yea, a little better (over 8 million). I'm not saying that Rules... is the next coming of 2.5 Men, but it it just as strong as any of the other comedies, if not a tick above.

meaningless...although it did face the finale' of "house" a much stronger show then DWTS (demos)

I would love to see ROE go up against DWTS just once, and see what it gets. I really think it is ridiculous how it gets such credit all the time for holding the Men audience. It is the ONLY CBS sitcom that never goes up against DWTS. In fact, it is set up perfectly to pick up viewers that finish DWTS at 9:30, normally. Let's see it go up against that 18 million viewer monster, DWTS, like the other three CBS sitcoms do, and then we will find out how strong it really is.

But, those 9:30 numbers on ABC are about the same, if not better, than what SW was pulling in.
I do agree that if/when Rules... is moved to another time slot, its numbers will drop. By how much will depend on day and time. But it is the one sitcom that has consistantly held on to 2.5 Mens leadin numbers the best.
I agree that it does do better than Old Christine did at holding the Men audience, but let me ask you this. Let's say ROE was in the 8:00 hour last night, do you think it would have done better than BBT or HIMYM did ?
yes....sorry but HIMYM did follow 2.5 men (repeats in summer) for upto 2 months...and that show still fell to normal repeat levels...but rules does not...imo it would do better as the show is mistreated and still comes back strong.

Obviously, no proof here, but I kind of think it would do the same. It is simply untested. Being the only CBS sitcom to never go up agains DWTS is a huge advantage, no to mention the Men lead in, and HUT advantage over the 8:00 sitcoms.

Without going into spoilers, I wonder if he'll be back every few episodes next season? There's no reason he can't be a factor.
BTW, because of House, I'm now afraid to take cold medicine.

You are absolutely right. It got higher ratings because no SW so it got the whole sitcom audience at 9:30, and it is the only CBS sitcom that never goes up against DWTS. I would love to see ROE swap time slots with either HIMYM or BBT just for a couple of weeks, and let's see how it does.
actually rules has gone head to head with DWTS many 2 hour editions last season...it did surprisingly well...
