Monday won't be the problem for CBS' comedies. Wednesday is going to be tough with the Bones/Pushing Daisies/Knight Rider (it will be competition for a while)/CBS comedy blocks. Out of all slots to expand, they pick Wednesday at 8, knowing full well Pushing Daisies and Knight Rider were standing in their way? I don't understand that.
Nobody knows how tough KR is going to be yet--probably start big, probably drop off quite a bit over the season.
PD is not serious competition for anything that isn't on CW. All the other networks have spotted it for the weak sister it is, and are eager to exploit that weakness in ABC's schedule.

Couldn't be that people actually enjoy the show, is it?
I still say ROE is the only "protected" CBS sitcom. When we see it prove itself in a difficult time slot like the other sitcoms have done, I will be the first to give it its due.

Second, Yes, DWTS was not on at 9pm, but it was the sitcoms that captured those viewers.
2.5 Men's bump was just at about a million viewers from last week, but Rules... jumped nearly 2 million viewers from last week.
Rules held on to about 83% of MENs viewers and about 90% of the demo.
Nice numbers to close out on.

It ended at 9:00 last night so Men got a bump from no DWTS on at 9:00, and ROE simply took its percentage of the Men audience, and also got a bump up. I mean, it is plain and simple, no DWTS so the 9:00 shows both got bump ups.
We will never find out about Rules until it moves out of that 9:30 time slot. It is the only "protected" CBS sitcom. HIMYM was on at 8:00 in its second season, now BBT in its first season is in that horrible time slot. Old Christine was moved to 8:30 last season, and now has the horrible 8:00 time slot next season. Let's see Rules earn its keep, and stop taking whatever Men gives it, and then I will praise it. It is the only untested CBS sitcom.
And by the way, the reason Rules went up 2 million was because no SW this week, so it got the whole sitcom audience at 9:30.
But, those 9:30 numbers on ABC are about the same, if not better, than what SW was pulling in.
I do agree that if/when Rules... is moved to another time slot, its numbers will drop. By how much will depend on day and time. But it is the one sitcom that has consistantly held on to 2.5 Mens leadin numbers the best.
Ah pisher, looks like you are not renewing your membership in the Pushing Daisies Fan Club. PD isn't ABC's problem next year. DSM, ES, and to a degree BL will struggle much worse than it. If PP goes into a slump, then ABC is in deep trouble.
Knight Rider has a larger chance of holding an audience than Bionic Woman. There are a lot of people who love watching cars. The NASCAR crowd is already into it.

I think you should go ahead and change your name from TheOCFan to The90210Fan before someone else takes it.
As for CW's fate, the entities behind it have very deep pockets, Warner Bros. probably just lost more money on Speed Racer than they did on CW all of last year. Expect all those hybrid cars on the CW shows to be replaced with Speed Race makegoods next Fall.
CW will not fold due to 'financial ruin'. The money envolved is a pitance of what these companies have as overall budgets.
Thats a little bit reassuring. What do we make of the article released by the wallstreet journal then?
Top honors at 10 p.m. fell in CBS’ court, with the season-finale of CSI: Miami at 16.07 million viewers and a 4.4/12 in the demo.
A nice rebound to end the season, but should have been at this level all along.

Stongest numbers yet. Will be nice for CBS to have this in its back pocket for mid season. The episode was pretty good too. Funny and some nice character development to boot.

actually Men was down slightly...rules was up...me thinks it is due to no "samantha who?"...the previous poster was not incorrect in his assessment...rules finished at a near 90% demo retention out of men...

Exactly. RoE never has to go up against DwtS and it always has the mega-lead-in of 2&1/2Men. For a finale, it didn't even have to go against fellow sitcom Samantha Who?. The growth for RoE last night is almost meaningless.

I agree that it does do better than Old Christine did at holding the Men audience, but let me ask you this. Let's say ROE was in the 8:00 hour last night, do you think it would have done better than BBT or HIMYM did ?
Interesting that both House and 2.5 Men got big bumps in viewers but not in demo. A lot of the older Dancing viewers must have flocked over to these shows.
The Bachelorette's demo held up surprisingly well in hour number two.
Great finale numbers over on CW, relatively speaking.
Exactly. Both comanies are publicy traded and answer to the stock holders. If the stock prices are droping are being held back from what is percieved the lack of growth from The CW, one or both companies will drop it.
I see Time Warner dropping out first with CBS taking a gamble of a season on its own.
Unless an all of a sudden big buyer came out of no where, I don't see selling the network as a viable option.

You are absolutely right. It got higher ratings because no SW so it got the whole sitcom audience at 9:30, and it is the only CBS sitcom that never goes up against DWTS. I would love to see ROE swap time slots with either HIMYM or BBT just for a couple of weeks, and let's see how it does.
