Two and a Half Men prevailed at 9 p.m., with 15.30 million viewers (#1) and a 5.0/11 among adults 18-49 (#2).
ABC’s competing Samantha Who? moved up one half-hour with a still respectable 12.62 million viewers (#2) and a 4.1/ 9 among adults 18-49
I guess we now know which show is TRUELY the #1 sitcom.
Well, certainly in the numbers...but in terms of creativty and class and witty dialogue SAMANTHA WHO trumps the sophmoric sex-com known as TWO AND A HALF MEN.
That's just a personal opinion. The majority thinks otherwise clearly
And I'm sticking with it. Plus when TWO goes into repeats and SAMANTHA still has its fresh episodes since it debuted so late-I think the real possibility exits that the tide will turn and its fan base will perhaps grow so that it will pass TWO even when it comes back someday with new episodes.
boy are you gonna be surprised next week...

I dont really care for Notes, although I do love the brilliant Rachel Harris, who is funny in just about everything she does. They should have spun her character off into her own show and scrap Notes.

Pretty good for SW.
I expected Heroes to go up - no surprise there.
The biggest question mark I had when ABC announced their fall schedule last May was why they considered bringing back OR and NFTU (especially the latter). OR had a better-than-expected debut, but it never really caught on. NFTU had measly ratings. I think SW should be paired with Miss/Guided - much better match.
I would watch a Christina Applegate/Judy Greer combo over Charlie Sheen/David Spade any day...
You aren't alone.
im sure a lot of ppl would agree with you, but the fact remains that 2.5 men is far stronger than samantha who.
ive watched samantha who? it has potential, but i dont see all the "witty" dialog that so many say it has...and apparently im not the only one who thinks this.

I think its exciting that we have a close race for first in the november sweeps. I didnt expect cbs to tie abc last night. I love when things come down to the wire. But lets be honest, with only a couple days left for sweeps abc is favored to win. They have the Dancing finale and Charlie Brown tonight and Shrek tommorow plus Tues. and Wed. are nights that cbs tends to skew old so this is abc' to win. But you never know, stranger things have happend.

If that's your standard, then The Office is the #1 sitcom.

Some thoughts: It appears that increased competition at 9 did put some strain on Samantha Who, but it only dipped by about 1.5 million from its average. Still not bad. Next week it should still be able to pull 10 million because Men in a repeat. Still ABC's best comedy in years. As much as I like Notes, its clearly not a winner. A better option would've been to try out Miss/Guided, which has gotten good reviews from many critics and looks comparable to Samantha Who. I'm saddened by October Road's numbers but not at all surprised. Perhaps it should've just stayed on Thursday and Men in Trees been given the Monday tryout. I don't know anymore. Its really not going to make much of a difference.
Was Rules of Engagement a repeat last night? I heard from others it was.
K-Ville will likely burn off its last two eps, possibly even on a Friday and then be done.
The CW continues to cellar dwell.
NBC had nice numbers from Chuck and Heroes. Journeyman may return for burnoff of final eps, but is in all ways cancelled. Here's to Life finding some life next Monday after Heroes fall finale.

I'm wondering where OR is going now based on last night's episode. I was bored and it felt like they were wrapping up the main plots as to why he came back to the town to begin with.
Underbelly was also very boring(why it was renewed baffles me, and I'm not surprised at the ratings), but Samantha Who? was awesome. ABC shouldn't have put it against Two and a Half Men though. It would flourish at 8pm against weak competition.
Probably a dumb question but why do the ratings come out with FOX,NBC,ABC,CBS and the CW? is it because they are 'open' channels available without cable??? I watch a couple of shows on the CW but if you toss in cable channels the CW probably isn't in the top 10 most nights in terms of networks watched.

Growth for The Game out of Girlfriends of 520,000 viewers and 40 percent among adults 18-49 is a positive worth noting. The network might benefit if it flipped the two sitcoms.
A positive worth noting: Girlfriends grew out of its lead-in by 390,000 viewers and 42% in the demo.
Flipping Girlfriends and The Game might work (I know that Girlfriends would be happy to face NFtU and RoE rather than 2&1/2Men and SW), but I don't think flipping them will change much of anything. The real problem is still the placement of Aliens in America. That show needs to find the Malcolm in the Middle audience from years ago. It does not fit with the other three sitcoms and CW is diluting its audience by airing an encore every week on Sunday. The solution is to flip AiA and EHC so that EHC moves into the higher HUT level and aligns with the other African American sitcoms.
If CW doesn't want to flip the shows, then they need to gear up 'Eight Days a Week' to take Aliens in America's place and then limit Aliens in America to once a week airings.
Meanwhile, the CW still needs to coerce VH1 into NOT airing I Love new York opposite Girlfriends/The Game. Maybe withold America's Next Top Model until VH1 agrees. That would get rid of about 20 hours per week of VH1's programming. They would have to cave in, then.

Why not AI and EDAW on Tuesdays leading into Reaper... seems like a much better fit.
I think Samantha who will get excellent numbers in 8 pm since there is barely any competition, and it can serve as a lead in for Miss/Guided, which I hear is good
Dance wars will probably do very well, obviously not as well as DWTS, but considerably well, and may even land 1st place among the hour, and then October Road could benefit from a considerably higher lead in that NFTU, and would atleast beat journeyman in the hour
and OR has proved last season when it was paired with greys, that if it had a somewhat high lead in, it does somewhat well
Originally posted by TV-aholic: From another source, Univision beat the CW in every hour, demo and viewers for the night. So, at best, the CW is the #6 Broadcast network.
But they better watch out. Telemundo is rising pretty quickly and MyTV is not that far behind either.
FOX and NBC better watch out for Univision. It is already beating them on some nights and their audience is growing quickly.
Not much reason for anyone to worry about MNTV. That network is only growing because they have all but stopped using original progamming. Growth is not sustainable without original content.

Ok, but you need to fill the 1 hour hole on Monday with something. BatG is a failure and Pussycat Dolls isn't going to hold up well against ABC's Dancing.
