Note: Any prior rating results are based on the final nationals. Also, since the level of DVR penetration has increased from 9 percent in early 2006-07 to approximately 20 percent at present, the overall results may be negatively impacted.
----------
-Yesterday’s Winners: Dancing With the Stars (ABC), Two and a Half Men (CBS), Heroes (NBC), CSI: Miami (CBS)
-Honorable Mention: Samantha Who? (ABC)
-Yesterday’s Losers (excluding repeats): Everybody Hates Chris (CW), Aliens in America (CW), Notes From the Underbelly (ABC), Girlfriends (CW), October Road (ABC), Journeyman (NBC)

-Ratings Breakdown: ABC dominated Monday on the strength of the final night of competition on blockbuster Dancing With the Stars. But relocated Samantha Who? at 9 p.m. lost a large chunk of the DWTS lead-in, and it went from bad to worse for ABC from 9:30-11 p.m. CBS was tied with ABC for No. 1 among adults 18-49. NBC finished third in both categories, followed by Fox and the CW.
Dancing With the Stars roared past the 8-9 p.m. competition, with a season-high 24.74 million viewers and a 6.2 rating/15 share among adults 18-49. Since there should be no way at this point for Marie Osmond to move forward (calling all Osmonds -- she needs your votes!), it’s the battle of Mel and Max vs. Helio and Julianne. My pick: Mel and Max.
NBC’s just full season-renewed Chuck was second in the 8 p.m. hour, with 8.36 million viewers and a 3.3/ 8 among adults 18-49. Also in the time period were CBS sitcoms How I Met Your Mother (Viewers: #2, 8.06 million; A18-49: #2, 3.3/ 8) and a repeat of The Big Bang Theory (Viewers: #4, 7.39 million; A18-49: #4, 2.8/ 7), a repeat of Fox’s House (Viewers: #4, 7.44 million; A18-49: #4, 2.9/ 7), and the CW’s lackluster Everybody Hates Chris (Viewers: #5, 2.28 million; A18-49: #5, 0.9/ 2) and Aliens in America (Viewers: #5, 1.89 million; A18-49: #5, 0.7/ 2). One year earlier, then declining Everybody Hates Chris averaged 3.28 million viewers and a 1.3/ 3 in the demo at 8 p.m. What happened, Chris Rock?
The strength of CBS’ Two and a Half Men prevailed at 9 p.m., with 15.30 million viewers (#1) and a 5.0/11 among adults 18-49 (#2). Comparably, that built from the encore of lead-in The Big Bang Theory by 7.91 million viewers and 79 percent in the demo. ABC’s competing Samantha Who? moved up one half-hour with a still respectable 12.62 million viewers (#2) and a 4.1/ 9 among adults 18-49 (#2), but the retention out of the second-half of lead-in Dancing With the Stars (Viewers: 26.13 million; A18-49: 6.7/15 at 8:30 p.m.) was just 48 percent in viewers and 61 percent in the demo. Take a look, meanwhile, at the performances of CBS’ Rules of Engagement versus the season-premiere of ABC’s very disappointing Notes From the Underbelly at 9:30 p.m.
Monday 9:30 p.m. Rules of Engagement (CBS) – Viewers: 11.62 million (#2), A18-49: 3.8/ 9 (#2) Percent Retention Out of Two and a Half Men – Viewers: 76 percent, A18-49: 76 percent
Notes From the Underbelly (ABC) – Viewers: 8.25 million (#3), A18-49: 2.9/ 7 (#3) Percent Retention Out of Samantha Who? – Viewers: 65 percent, A18-49: 71 percent
Also airing in the 9 p.m. hour was NBC’s Heroes (Viewers: #2, 11.86 million; A18-49: #1, 5.2/12), a repeat of Fox’s Bones (Viewers: #4, 6.53 million; A18-49: #4, 2.1/ 5), and the CW’s Girlfriends (Viewers: #5, 2.28 million; A18-49: #5, 1.0/ 2) and The Game (Viewers: #5, 2.80 million; A18-49: #5, 1.4/ 3). Growth for The Game out of Girlfriends of 520,000 viewers and 40 percent among adults 18-49 is a positive worth noting. The network might benefit if it flipped the two sitcoms.
First at 10 p.m., of course, was CBS mainstay CSI: Miami at a healthy 15.46 million viewers and a 4.6/12 among adults 18-49. Comparably, that built from lead-in Rules of Engagement by a hefty 3.84 million viewers and 21 percent in the demo. Second was NBC’s struggling Journeyman (Viewers: 6.18 million; A18-49: 2.5/ 6), followed by the time period debut of ABC’s October Road at a mere 6.02 million viewers and a 2.3/ 6 in the demo. October Road dipped by 2.23 million viewers and 21 percent among adults 18-49 from lead-in Notes From the Underbelly, and declined by 630,000 viewers (6.33 to 5.70 million) and eight percent among adults 18-49 (2.4/ 6 to 2.2/ 6) in the second half hour. Could it be that ABC has maxed out on relationship dramas?

Big OUCH for October Road. The writers had either do something BIG to gain viewers for the series or start writing the end and they had better do it fast.
I'd kind of give SAMANTHA WHO a spot in the winners column. It beat HEROES whose numbers were the higest in weeks. I believe it has a loyal following unlike NOTES where there is a huge lack of interest...it would have to be if that many people tuned out of ABC at 9:30 and went to competition that was less than stellar- RULES ugh! Repeat of BONES and the GAME? Or joining HEROES already in progress.
CHUCK can thank it's rise in numbers due to the lack of PRISON BREAK.

I guess we now know which show is TRUELY the #1 sitcom.
Well, certainly in the numbers...but in terms of creativty and class and witty dialogue SAMANTHA WHO trumps the sophmoric sex-com known as TWO AND A HALF MEN.
I'm a bit surprised that ABC renewed Notes from the Underbelly -- it was by no means anywhere near a hit. Surprised that October Road is not doing better -- I wish ABC had chosen to use that as the lead out to dancing with the stars.
I was disappointed that someone didn't tell Marie or Jonathan to do a better finale. She could have won it but now I hope that Mel and Max win over the over praised helio. Did you hear what the judges said -- bad footwork -- all of them said it -- hardly a comment that should bring a dancing trophy. For all the knocks that marie gets for getting in the finale, it is Helio who has gotten there on charm alone and she not have even made it to the final.
The biggest question mark I had when ABC announced their fall schedule last May was why they considered bringing back OR and NFTU (especially the latter). OR had a better-than-expected debut, but it never really caught on. NFTU had measly ratings. I think SW should be paired with Miss/Guided - much better match.

The Game had a pretty strong demo. Is that tying a season high? Aliens in America is KILLING the night even worse than it already is, and DEFINITELY worse than All Of Us did last season....
