Saturdays (beginning Jan. 10) 8-11 p.m.: “Law & Order” and “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” encores
Sundays (Jan. 4) 7-9 p.m.: “Saturday Night Live Sports Extra” 9-11 p.m.: “Superstars of Dance” (premiere)
Sundays (Event Specials) 8-11 p.m.: “The Golden Globe Awards” (Jan. 11) 9-11 p.m.: “Saturday Night Live Film Festival” (Jan. 18) 9-11 p.m.: The Last Templar” (Jan. 25 and Monday, Jan. 26) 6:15-10 p.m.: Super Bowl XLIII (Feb. 1)
The January schedule for NBC is actually not bad at all. Not the best, but decent.
NBC will benefit with Lipstick Jungle and Crusoe finally off schedule and holding Life back.
Sunday specials are the best NBC could do. They spend half of the year with football. So when football is over and NBC having so many holes to fill, specials are the best way to go as they can't dedicate their resources to just half a year. 8 PM is still open most weeks and I bet from 7 to 9 PM will be either two hour Datelines or Dateline followed by Merlin. After the specials are done, NBC still has The Apprentice, The Chopping Block, The Listener, Kings, and Jason and the Agronauts to choose from to fill up the other two hours.
Placing Superstars of Dance on Mondays is a very good choice. If it was going to work, it had to appeal to the audience who watched Dancing with the Stars on Monday. This placement should take some viewers from ABC Monday. If it works, NBC should prep it to come back on Mondays in the DWTS off season next year. Mama's Boy at 10 PM is an odd choice. NBC would have been better off just putting Medium there.
Tuesdays are strong with Biggest Loser and Law and Order: SVU but I expect Biggest Loser's ratings to be lower against Idol.
Knight Rider is being sacrificed against Idol on Wednesday. NBC really doesn't want to waste a series with promise in that spot so this is a good choice. Law and Order: SVU repeats will do just as well as Life and will possibly do more in the demos. It's also a better lead in for Law and Order.
Thursdays are solid with the exception of Kath and Kim but they don't have anything to replace it with.
Fridays are stronger with Lipstick Jungle and Crusoe gone. Howie Do It should fit well with the Deal Or No Deal crowd and is something to fill in so that Deal Or No Deal is not overexposed more. Dateline will do well. Friday Night Lights will do well enough. Most Outrageous Moments will probably still make an appearance on Fridays.
Saturdays won't be much better but right now they have other things to focus on.
Originally posted by Twins12: HIMYM did not always get better demos than BBT. It got lower demos every single week, except for a 1 week tie, when HIMYM was at 8:00. The time slot difference is probably good for at least a .3 demo difference.
Just for the record, when looking at last year's performance of TBBT and HIMYM: HIMYM performed better in the 8pm timeslot than TBBT performed in the 8pm timeslot. HIMYM performed better in the 8:30pm timeslot than TBBT performed in the 8:30pm timeslot. So, last year, HIMYM performed better in both timeslots than TBBT.
Speaking of TBBT, didn't they say that they were going to add Sara Gilbert to the cast as a regular? Where is she? She is the best part of the show and she appears far to seldomly.
What a joke you are, Mr. Half Truths. You fail to mention that BBT was in the 8:00 time slot during the Spring when the 8:00 show gets killed by Daylight savings time. Nice try, though. By the way, the finals are in and BBT set a series high for the third time in four weeks. HIMYM fell under 10 million, and did not even set a season high. So there you go.

Not sure where you're getting your information. And frankly, it's annoying to have to do this with you and Pisher week after week.
