As much as I would like to make excuses for OTH, as I love it, it was always supposed to be the mid-season ender last night before the hiatus. The only change I was aware of what that from everything I heard, CMM's episode was supposed to lead off into the mid-season finale.

OTH was supposed to have its fall finale next week after a new GG episode. But CW changed that so they could air Priveleged after a new GG

Wouldn't it be funny if My Own Worst Enemy was finally catching on right before it gets cancelled.

(Now I just wish "The New Adventures of Old Christine" would grow in the same way!)

Last year HIMYM was helping the BBT get along in the ratings and now BBT is helping HIMYM get along in the ratings.

Actually it was the other way around. BBT (and Britney Soears) saved HIMYM

BBT was never on the bubble last year. It got an early renewal in February.

The higher rated 8:30 time slot didn't hurt HIMYM either.

SW's retention out of DWTS is still terrible. It'll be even worse with the lead out factored in. As I said before, another comedy deserves a chance to have this huge lead in.

OTH was really low last night.

FOX deserves credit for not ending the show midstream. Allowing it to play out on Friday nights were expectations are not too high is a fair compromise.

I agree that it will probably do 6-7 million, mid 2 demos on its own. However, considering the success ABC has had with recent comedies, that could be enough to let SW anchor a comedy block.

It got 6-7 million the once or twice it aired without DWTS last year, and ABC quickly pulled it until March when DWTS returned.

Good numbers for CBS. BBT had another great episode last night. Sheldon is such a loser. Big Grin HIMYM IMO was one of the funniest of the season. Before last night I thought most of the episodes were pretty boring. 2.5 Men was hilarious. I definetley thought the funniest part was Jake's ringtone. Big Grin I did sit through 7 minutes of Worst Week last night and I didnt laugh once. Everything is just so predictable. Since last night was the wedding, I expect ratings to drop from here. How else can the show possibly go? I doubt they would live with the parents. Plus what would be the comedy if they go back to living on their own? CSI: Miami was a great episode last night. I thought it was one of the best episodes since the season premiere.
Good job CBS for having a lineup that is almost excellent! Smiler

Hi ..why are Marc and Travis'ratings so much different than the Entertainment Weekly site .. see below... Heroes is marked as a loser (which i feel it is) but still ...it actually outperformed last week ..

'How I Met Your Mother,' 'Big 'Bang' hit ratings records

CBS comedies Big Bang Theory and How I Met Your Mother actually managed to tango a bit with ratings titan Dancing with the Stars Monday night. Bang hit its highest audience of all-time last night with 10.2 million viewers, according to preliminary overnight ratings, while Mother rose to a season best at 10 million, topping last week's 9.8 million. The milestones are particularly impressive since the two shows were up against ABC juggernaut Dancing With the Stars, which certainly did not disappoint in terms of its own ratings. A whopping 21.3 million fans tuned in to see the final three hit the floor in the penultimate episode of Dancing, 600,000 more than last week's episode. The dance fest's big ratings also boosted Samantha Who? at 9:30 with 11.9 million, a nice uptick from last week's 11.1 million. And Boston Legal closed out ABC's evening at 10 p.m. with 8.7 million, a slight 200,000 increase uptick from last week.

Meanwhile, CBS' 9 p.m. saw Two and a Half Men draw 14.9 million viewers, down slightly from last week's 15.2 million. And at 9:30, Worst Week shot to its highest ratings since its premiere with 10.4 million eyes.

Over at NBC, Chuck performed about in line with last week's numbers, with 6.7 million viewers. At 9 p.m., Heroes averaged 7.9 million, a 4 percent increase from last week's airing but still hardly a return to its ratings glory. And at 10 p.m., another disastrous performance from My Own Worst Enemy, which attracted a paltry 4.3 million.

Fox's Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles saw a deep decline in ratings with only 4.6 million viewers this week, a 13 percent drop from last week. Prison Break also fell 600,000 this week to 5.3 million viewers.

With no new Gossip Girl last night, The CW made it a One Tree Hill evening. Unfortunately, it appears that OTH needs the GG lead-in.: At 8 p.m., an OTH rerun only garnered 1.4 million viewers while a new episode at 9 hardly did much better with 2.2 million

I read the episode summaries and I thought BBT was going to be great and HIMYM was going to be meh. But BBT disappointed me a little, I was thinking it was going to be better. Still good though and has the best theme song today, imo.

HIMYM was much better than I thought it would be. Loved all their Naked Man poses - "The Burt Reynolds" probably went over the heads of most viewers but nice to see a tip of the cap to us older people.

Interesting. I will say the promos dept. for OTH needs to be shot, as they appear to get the weakest promos of all the CW shows. Sad, one of the best on the network, yet it really seems the network would like it to die.

I agree with you on WW, but from what I have heard CBS actually expects its ratings to pick up, because they think SW will drop without the DWTS lead in, and this should provide less competition to WW, which will allow its retention from Men to improve. That is their plan. I fear WW will be here for a long time. Someone at CBS loves this show, because with its retention from Men it should have been gone a month ago.

I would like to see that as well. I really think this is a show that would do better on a cable station. TNT, or USA...I think they really could run with it, as it has a good premise, and was starting to improve as the weeks went along.

Agreed. It doesn't make one bit of difference what ABC airs on Mondays, Twins will be gloating about CBS's performance regardless. S/he just wants the least competition possible for BBT/HIMYM so they can continue to do well.

Thank you so much that DWTS finally kicks off, and goes away until March after tonight. At least people won't have to watch the "has beens" dancing around for 3 months.
