Yeah, ABC can't wait, but I can. One day this "Dancing with the Has Beens" thing is finally going to wear off. I still think FOX does it right with one season of AI per year. Two is just too much. I guess ABC has nothing else.

By the way, this year's DWTS was down a whopping 20% from last year's final !

Thank you so much that DWTS finally kicks off, and goes away until March after tonight. At least people won't have to watch the "has beens" dancing around for 3 months.

Ouch for SCC next week. ABC will air Shrek's special. But a golden opportunity for PB with SW, Heroes and repeats on CBS.

They don't have anything else to replace it with. But I don't think DWTS is going to fade as fast as people would like it to. Ratings are down because live TV viewership is down across the board. But TV viewers are naturally interested in celebrities, even D-listers, and I don't see a sudden massive drop off of interest in the show.

T:SCC should have never gotten its back nine. Those numbers are terrible. A burnoff of My Own Worst Enemy got higher demos than it. It's going to completely tank on Fridays.

Particularly considering it'll be up against the SciFi Channel's Friday night bloc--which will include the final episodes of Battlestar Galactica. Just hard to get any geek buzz going against that. And they need a lot more than geek buzz to pay for the budgets SCC and Dollhouse have.

There must be larger considerations that kept SCC on the air, but I don't think those will be enough to keep it on past this season.

It wouldn't surprise me if Warren and Kim have the popular vote, so with a second place finish with the judges, they would win (unless they've changed the rules stating a tie goes to the popular vote winners). I'm sure the producers would much rather see Brooke win as she's a much better dancer.

Look for the judges scores after tonight to be in this order:

Brooke
Lance
Warren

Warren's third place finish with the judges would all but guarantee him 2nd place, unless Brooke fished third in the popular vote. I highly doubt that.

Look for Lance and Lacey to be the first eliminated tonight

If they recently changed how they determine the winner, then forget everything I just said. Wink

well, the finale was down a whopping 20% this year. I think it is fading already.

I swear i'll never never never understand why shows like DWTS and AI are so watched. I can't think of anything more boring than watching some D-listers dance. OK, maybe i would watch it a week but the same thing for months? Unthinkable

Here is the Hollywood Reporter's analysis of DWTS and others. Notice the big drop off from DWTS from last year :

Another Monday, another win for CBS.

Despite increased competition from ABC's "Dancing With the Stars" finale, CBS' "Big Bang Theory" (10.2 million viewers, 3.9 preliminary adults 18-49 rating) matched its season-high adult demo rating and delivered its largest audience ever. The effectively promoted "naked man" episode of "How I Met Your Mother" (10 million, 4.3) hit a season high in viewers. "Two and a Half Men" (14.9 million, 5.3) was unchanged and "Worst Week" (10.4 million, 3.3) grew a tenth. Coming off last week's milestone episode, "CSI: Miami" (14.1 million, 3.9) fell slightly.

ABC was second for the evening in the demo with part one of the "Dancing" finale (21.3 million, 4.8) ranking as the most-watched program of the night and second-highest rated. The final "Dancing" performance show was up 12% from last week's episode, though down 20% from last year's finale. The finale helped slightly boost "Samantha Who" (11.9 million, 3.2) and "Boston Legal" (8.7 million, 2.3).

In third, NBC aired "Chuck" (6.6 million, 2.5), which retained most of last week's gain. "Heroes" (7.8 million, 3.6) maintained its rating for the third week in a row, suggesting the show has found a new bottom. "My Own Worst Enemy" (4.2 million, 1.9) was on par.

In fourth, Fox's "Terminator" (4.6 million, 1.8) and "Prison Break" (5.2 million, 2.1) slipped a tenth. On the CW, with "Gossip Girl" on hiatus and a "One Tree Hill" repeat in its place, the 9 p.m. "Tree" original (2.2 million, 1.0) fell 23%.

Thank you. I couldn't have said it better. Thank goodness some of the younger people are finding shows like the CBS sitcoms to watch. DWTS is going down in the demos while CBS is rising.

I actually thought DWtS would take a big nose dive with this current edition. I was expecting numbers in the low 3's for the demo and around 13-14 million viewers.

Not only has DWTS been over exposed, but I thought the copycats, over the last 12-18 months, would do the most damage.

Well let's just hope it fades more in the Spring. Two seasons of it in one year is too much. They will kill the golden goose eventually.

All of the big shows are down this year. Survivor, TAR, DH, GA, DWTS, Heroes, House, all down. When a show is posting huge numbers, it's drops are more noticable due to fewer live TV watchers. The few shows that are posting increases are smaller, lesser watched shows. Next year, they will reach their limit and the audience will decline.

I'm actually in full agreement here. (shocking i know but stranger things have happened)

I used to love these kinds of talent shows with Star Search (both the original and the CBS one with Arsenio) remaining my favorite because they had fresh talent each week. You never knew if someone better would come on and it was exciting to watch. The thrill of finding out what song Sanjaya is going to sing on ABBA night just doesn't compare.

As for DWTS, I'm a fan of dance shows, but the audience vote is the other reason not to watch. The least talented is rarely voted off and many years, the most talented didn't even win. After Mario Lopez lost to Reggie football guy with marginal talent, I gave that show up for good.

Fair points, but I still think DWTS is starting to wear old. I think the decline keeps going.
