Unlike 7th Heaven, Gilmore Girls cannot have an easy "comeback" year because they've never lost any of the original cast members. In season 8 of 7th Heaven, there was only Lucy/Ruthie and a HUGE amount of Camden-wannabes (Cecilia, Chandler, Roxanne, Peter, Paris, Vic...). Then, in season 9 the show rebounded wonderfully when Matt and Simon came back for most of the season and the show's creativeness returned once all the Camden-wannabes (except Martin) were tossed out.
But GG can't have that. The series has already been ruined and no "big returns" could help. Milo is done -- he said he'll never be back. And they can't get Jared back. That's pretty much it for any big characters that came on later, and that were well-liked.
Ratingswise, I'd keep GG around if I could based on few other choices to anchor Tuesdays. Ditto goes for 7th Heaven on Sundays. Both shows have low ratings now, but renewing them - as some cannot seem to understand - is NOT about ratings.
This is a very under-rated drama. Few people can remember that it won an Emmy for Best Drama, and Best Leading Male in a Drama both in 2005. Besides House, BL is my other favorite show to watch on Tuesdays.

I have never understood why Boston Legal has never been a Blockbuster.... They have been excellent at replacing weaker cast members with some great additions and the reoccuring players like Betty White have been a scream. Right now, I can't see how that cast could be any stronger and I'd go out on a limb to say it's the Best Ensemble cast on TV - well not sure about The Office... but that's a debate for another time.

Well, Veronica and House dosent have the same viewers. On OTH there is a big women/teen audince who watch it, and the same with AI. Uhm, i think.

That's pretty much my opinion too, and why I think VM will AGAIN be the benefactor of an almost unheard of set of circumstances and get a 4th season despite the fact that it's had 3 years to build an audience and has failed to do so. Seriously, this show has unbelievable luck, because as bad as it gets, everything else around it seems to fall apart even worse, allowing it to trudge on year after year.
Well, if it gets renewed, that would be season three. And, yes, I do, but I am not so sure I would leave it Tuesday at 9 p.m. If I were CBS, I would move it to 10 p.m. Tuesday, and find something compatible to position after NCIS and into The Unit.

Your thoughts on the Unit on CBS. I've watched it some although not a lot. I've liked the military action portion of it and Dennis Haybert is a good lead actor on the show. From what I've seen, it does get CBS away from the dependence on crime stories. But, the home life elements got kind of soapy. Do you think it is worth renewing for a 2nd season?

Hmm...I would say that VM and House share a lot of the same viewers. I mean, House does do pretty well in A18-34 and A18-49. I do agree, though, that there's more overlap bewteen OTH and AI. That probably equals out the #s for VM and OTH somewhat.

It has won emmy awards for both Spader and Shatner (twice for each), but the show has never won best drama, hehe. The Practice, the show it was a spin off of, did.

Well...looking at what is on the CW at the moment, there are several shows which I think will stay..
Smallville, Supernatural, Everybody Hates Chris, America's Next Top Model, Beauty and the Geek, and possibly Friday Night Smackdown.
Please feel free to correct me on this anyone. I am sure that there are more shows that they will keep.
Actually, I think these past two GG episodes have been very good. Probably the best ones of the season. And yes the ratings are down, but aren't most of the CW ratings down? How much of that is due to the fact that some of the stations carrying it are digital only, so you have to subscribe to digital cable to view it? I think an 8th season of Gilmore will depend solely on the cast, not on the ratings. Also, you try going up against Dancing With the Stars and American Idol and see if you don't get creamed. Yikes!

So, people are wondering why CW is trying to renew GG. But look at last week. AI slaughtered GG(it's final ratings were 3.72 million), but last night had 4.26 million. It went up very nicely. The same can't be said for Beauty And The Geek or One Tree Hill. GG should be commended at least for that. It's not the first time they've had an episode in the lower 4 millions.
Keeping GG would be wise. Same with 7th Heaven for Sundays. What are they gonna do on Sundays?. As much as I hate to say it, VM should go. Open up a slot for new programming, which the CW desperatley wants. Keep EHC on Mondays, and bring on 3 new shows. GG kept and VM gone on Tuesdays. Wednesdays stay the same(although I would love to see OTH gone), Thursdays and Fridays stay the same. Sunday is an interesting one. Keep 7th on at 8 or at 7 where the competition is lighter?. Two new shows on at 8 and 9?. Or 7th on at 8 with new shows on at 7 and 9?.

Yeah, I agree on those shows. But, I'm assuming that the CW will have about 4 hours worth of shows departing this season (GG, Reba, 7th Heaven, an hour worth of Monday night shows) before you even get to VM and OTH.

I agree. The last two episodes have been good. Not earth shattering greats, but real good. Last night's definitley was. Next week looks great too. As I've already posted, GG rebounded against AI last night. No, it's not as high as it has done in the past(or even this season), but it regained some momentum last night against AI.

I bet that the CW does want to keep GG. In fact, I think I just read something in EW to that effect. But LG and AB have both said they're likely done after this season, and I don't see both agreeing to stick around.
Am I wrong, or was last night's House the top scripted episode of the season in viewers and A18-49? CSI "only" hit 26 million viewers once, and the Grey's season premiere was "only" 11.0 in the demo.
Amazing episode, too. When House breaks away from its formula, which it seems to do once or twice a season, it goes from a great show to an amazing show.
