Odds are they won't bring back Cane, but it does take place in Miami.

It would be...might help bring some younger viewers to "Cane", also. Both on the same net, and aren't they both produced in southern Florida? I wonder if CBS is going to bring "Cane" back, considering its ratings so far...
I'll bet at some point we're going to see crossovers on CBS' Monday comedies..."Big Bang Theory" and "2 1/2 Men" would be natural selections, since they come from the same producers. What city do all those CBS comedies take place in? And I know "How I Met Your Mother" is like a flashback story...does that take place in current times or some years back?
How I met your Mother takes place in current times, although it's narrated by the main character talking to his kids 20 years hence.
It sounds strange, but it gets to be used to good effect when his memory starts getting murkey or he tries to change the story and the kids catch him on it.

I don;t know if pathetic is the word. ER is a totally different show than it was in it's heyday. And how many other 10 pm shows pull 9/10 mllion viewers consistently? I think ER should be judged against the current TV landscape not against it's former glory.

ER held 100% of its lead in and tied for the 18-49 lead (all that matters). WAT (a show I like more) lost 32% of its lead in.
ER should be a winner and WAT honorable mention. Also think the Donald deserves honorable as well against those big shows.

13 shows were on the major nets last night. "ER" finished 6th in total viewers and 4th in the demo, (handily beating its competition AND every other NBC show in the demo).
It also finished higher than NBC's season to date averages (8.9 million viewers, 3.3/9 in the 18-49. (And that counts in NFL Sunday night football, of course.)
So a glib and know-it-all remark might play well here, but the facts are, by the loowered standards of NBC, that "ER" is doing a bit better than the average program the network it offering. It's 3.5 last night is also ahead of any network's season-do-date 18-49 average. And "ER's" ratings performance is far ahead of the critically acclaimed NBC Thursday night comedy block.
Lots of things in this world might be labeled pathetic. But "ER" and its still decent ratings just isn't one of them.

I think these are correct:
Marc's Fast Nationals - NBC 3.7, FOX 3.6, ABC 2.8, CBS 2.8.
My estimates (18-49) for this week, Mon - Sun
FOX 3.8 (Mon and Sun fb; Sarah Connor CBS 3.6 Sat fb; Commanche on Sun NBC 3.0 Golden Globe hodge-podge ABC 2.7
For the season, CBS and NBC will fight for 2nd place.

Well, I'm still sticking to my opinion, which is, the show is a loser if it can't hold its audiance, meaning something has gone wrong.
There's a reason for Marc's comments.

AD is an apt comparison: decent shows that gets awards and have very devoted followers but with limited audiences. They might have been more successful on Showtime or HBO. But, the networks stick with some of these well-reviewed cult shows in the hope that they will be the next Cheers or Seinfeld and become hits after floundering.

I don't think there is any intellectual superiority to 30 Rock. Have that argument with someone else. My only point was that there is really no comparison of 30 rock to cavemen or viva laughlin. Arrested Development however is a fair comparison.

It isn't M*A*S*H, Cheers, or Seinfeld, either. It is more like Arrested Development.
You made an attempt to compare 30 Rock with popular TV shows that you think are 'rural/simplistic/stupid/whatever just so you could infer that 30 Rock was superior. I just pointed out that 30 Rock doesn't compare with intelligent comedies, either.
