Note: Any prior rating results are based on the final nationals. Also, since the level of DVR penetration has increased from 9 percent in early 2006-07 to approximately 20 percent at present, the overall results may be negatively impacted.

-Yesterday’s Winners: Deal or No Deal (NBC), Criminal Minds (CBS), Supernanny (ABC), CSI: NY (CBS), Law & Order (NBC)

-Ratings Breakdown: NBC led the Wednesday troops, with an overall first-place finish in total viewers and adults 18-49 as a result of Deal or No Deal (Viewers: #1, 13.32 million; A18-49: #1, 3.5 rating./10 share), the return of Law & Order: Criminal Intent (Viewers: #2, 9.57 million; A18-49: #3, 2.6/ 7), which currently airs on USA Network, and Law & Order (Viewers: #2, 11.05 million; A18-49: #2, 3.2/ 9).
In the battle of the 8-9 p.m. game shows, CBS’ Power of 10 cannot compare to Deal or No Deal. Take a look:
Wednesday 8-9 p.m. Deal or No Deal (NBC) – Viewers: 13.32 million (#1), A18-49: 3.5/10 (#1) Power of 10 (CBS) – Viewers: 6.12 million (#3), A18-49: 1.8/ 5 (#3)
CBS’ underrated Criminal Minds rose to a dominant 14.59 million viewers and a 3.9/10 among adults 18-49 at 9 p.m. (the most-watched show of the evening, in fact). But lead-out CSI: NY (Viewers: #1, 11.59 million; A18-49: #1, 3.5/10 at 10 p.m.) has seen its advantage deteriorate opposite Law & Order.
ABC’s Supernanny was the stand-out last night, with 8.88 million viewers (#3) and a second-place 3.7/ 9 among adults 18-49 from 9-10 p.m. Comparably, that built from lead-in Wife Swap (Viewers: #2, 7.80 million; A18-49: #2, 3.0/ 9 at 8 p.m.) by 1.08 million viewers and 23 percent among adults 18-49. The 10 p.m. time period debut of drama Cashmere Mafia was a disappointment, however with just 6.16 million viewers and a 2.3/ 6 in the demo. Could this be a sign of gloom for NBC’s upcoming The Lipstick Jungle?
Fox aired two repeats each of Back to You (Viewers: #4, 4.22 million; A18-49: #4, 1.5/ 4 from 8-9 p.m.) and ‘Til Death (Viewers: #4, 3.57 million; A18-49: #4, 1.4/ 4 from 9-10 p.m.), a personal favorite of mine care of the flawless chemistry between Brad Garrett and Joely Fisher. And the CW capped off the evening with the ludicrous Crowned: The Mother of all Beauty Pageants (Viewers: #5, 1.80 million; A18-49: #5, 0.8/ 2) and Gossip Girl (Viewers: #5, 2.34 million; A18-49: #5, 1.1/ 3). Gossip Girl posted its best ratings in five weeks in total viewers, adults 18-34 (1.5/4), women 18-34 (2.1/6), women 18-49 (1.6/4) and aforementioned adults 18-49. And Gossip Girl rose to its best teen (1.8/6) and female teen (3.2/11) ratings since Nov. 28, 2007.
Wednesday 8-9 p.m. Deal or No Deal (NBC) – Viewers: 13.32 million (#1), A18-49: 3.5/10 (#1) Power of 10 (CBS) – Viewers: 6.12 million (#3), A18-49: 1.8/ 5 (#3)
I know theres not many options, but CBS needs to move Power of 10 AWAY from DOND. Perhaps a Friday aring (9pm) or Tuesdays at 9pm, would help it out a little more.
But lead-out CSI: NY (Viewers: #1, 11.59 million; A18-49: #1, 3.5/10 at 10 p.m.) has seen its advantage deteriorate opposite Law & Order.
The More Established L&O did take a chunk out of CSI:NY. The little Hiatus of L&O only wet the appetite of the viewers and now they want a little more L&O than CSI. But once Repeats are running for both, CSI:NY should be a little more dominate.
As I mentioned earlier in another thread, I do not think there is a reason to boast about Gossip Girls improvement from Crowned. Of course GG is going to grow out of Crowned, which is the worst show on network TV.
ETA: Had the ratings been better than just in the low to mid-2million mark, than that would be an improvement. But I guess since this is the CW, any improvement is better than none. Always appreciate your ratings analysis Marc!!

I think, like NBC's "Singing Bee", it's a show that's going to do best in the summertime. It's demos are too low during the regular season.
POWER OF 10...we can not definatly conclude was a summer fad. I thought maybe the ratings would improve in week 2 but...
Hopefully BIG BROTHER 9 won't suffer a similar fate.
CASHMERE MAFIA...I know you aren't suppose to jusge a book by its cover or a show by its name but...the name is so silly sounding (think VIVA LAUGHLIN) that I wonder if that might actually be preventing people from tuning in.

"Big Brother" is a pretty marginally rated series, even for summertime, isn't it? I don't think it starts scoring well until you get to the last few weeks of the show. If it doesn't do well, CBS is going to be stuck with a lot of low-rated hours during the week...isn't it running 3 times a week?
Wow!!! NBC must be thanking the gods right about now. They certainly are on a roll. I'm sure that they wish this strike could last a little longer. lol
Unfortunately for the CW, they'll continue to air "Crowned", as they have nothing to replace it with. I mean, shoot, they could do better with reruns of "Gilmore Girls".
I agree that PO10 is suffering from DOND-itis & would do better elsewhere. It's not really too bad a show.
