Ah.

So already the strike has benefited humanity.

The fun of Quantum Leap wasn't the time travel part. Yeah, it was interesting to see different time periods at first. But that interest kind of wears off after Sam has travelled to the 60's for the third or fourth time.

The fun was watching Sam become other people, male and female. Watching Sam struggling to act like the cop, or rock star, or single mother he'd leaped into, and interact with all the other people in that person's life, was the really fun part of that series. So, long after the time travel aspect got old, the "living different lives" part kept fans interested.

Most time travel shows focus on the time travel part. Which, like I said, can get pretty old pretty fast.

Well argued. It really was a very traditional type of show, that we've seen over and over again in different forms--wandering stranger comes to town, gets involved in people's lives, fixes a problem, and heads off down the road. They just added a science fiction element, that made it possible for the wandering stranger to BECOME the person he was helping.

And thus, its success has no bearing on the dismal failure of Daybreak and Journeyman, both featuring Moon Bloodgood for some strange reason. Honestly, Moon has got to get herself a better agent. It's been all downhill since Eight Below.

LOL! I agree with you that both shows aren't good. If both somehow myseriously left the FOX schedule, I wouldn't be too disappointed.

I agree and I don't think the ratings on it were not that bad. I thought it was a shoo-in for renewal at the time. Some of the segments were hysterical.

You're damn straight. I recorded it last night not knowing that it was going to be screwed up the much. Now I read that it didn't start till 9;45?! So I must have only half the episode.
Does ABC offer an online version?

Thank You fellow BIG BROTHER fan.

No problem!

I feel both have been victims of the fact that Fox doesn't do typical comedies. The leads in both are strong, but the supporting cast has been blah at times.

Maybe the Nielsen's went on strike too!!

I personally thought last night's Heroes was the best this season and on par with some of the best episodes from Season 1. I don't understand why the ratings continue to drop each week. I love Chuck but I will definitely admit that DOND was a major part of the Heroes success story last season. I also love Journeyman but I accept that while it is a decent show it is not long for this world...although with the strike we may get to see all the episodes instead of hunting them down online like previous shows canceled in the past.

So perhaps next fall when S3 of Heroes starts(which it looks like we'll be going a brutal 10 month break between the end of season 2 and start of season 3 because of the strike) NBC should stick DOND in front of it again and just put Medium after it like we have been screaming for all along. Wouldn't mind seeing Chuck behind it, but us Chuck fans know we'll be lucky if he nerds his way to a second season.

If the strike continues, Big Brother will probably return in March (perhaps with a celebrity version - oooooh.)

Not sure about those shows, but I remember back in 1988, during the last strike, I was watching All My Children and they continued to work with non-union people doing the scripts. In fact, for fans of the show, that was when the original Will and Dixie characters were introduced.

Once the strike ended though, they fired both of the actors playing them (and replaced them with the actors most people remember in the roles) and put a quick end to the storylines that the "SCABS" had created.

19 years later, the networks don't care enough about the soaps to use scab writers. The ratings are too low. They'll just let the scripts run out at the new year and stop airing them--put on game shows and the like in their place. Soap operas as we know them may well be over.

The View is still running live episodes. WGA writers had a minor role with preproduced segments but the Hot Topics and interviews make the program.

Don't know about Oprah.

I totally agree about Heroes. Last night's episode was awesome. Probably a Top Ten for the entire series. According to Kring, the show is really going to get ramped up from this point on. Next week's episode looks great as well.
