I think ABC is tops in drama, but comedy they are severly lacking in as a whole. They have one show- Samantha Who, and that may be living off Dancing's lead in. GLo was great, but ABC hated it for ridiculous reasons and so it moved all over the schedule.

I agree that some reality shows are needed and some actually are very good. The comment was more to the extent that the ideas that the networks are coming up with are terrible. Even the title of the show is uninspiring and quite frankly pointless. I find it noteworthy that the worst reality show ideas are coming from NBC, home of the failed fall show schedule.

I never meant to say any of the reality shows were GOOD--just entertaining for a large number of people, who are looking for a bit of escapism. I personally cannot stand any of them.

That show you mentioned does sound pretty dumb, but I thought Survivor sounded dumb. I mean--::shrugs helplessly::

The second season of Quantum Leap (first full season) saw the show start out ranked in the low 60's (out of about 85 shows each week). by the spring it was ranking arounf the high 40's, low 50's.

Durring that summer, the repeats were ranking about high 30's low 40's

Season 3 saw the show move from Wednesdays at 10pm to Fridays at 8pm. the show struggled in the new time slot, usually ranking in the low 70's (out of 95 shows).
In March of '91, Quantum Leap was put back at it original time slot (Wednesdays at 8pm), and started taking off and winning its time period, ranking around the mid to upper 30's. It's Season 3 finally had its best weekly ranking at #12, a head of Seifeld (18th on Thur. @ 9:30).

Season 4, Quantum Leap jumped out of the gate with 21 million viewers and ranked #31 for the week. For most of that season, QL ranked in the low 50's (out of about 93 shows each week). Its season finale did rank 22nd for the week, drawing aout 17 million viewers.

For the final season, QL moved to Tuesdays at 8pm. Its ratings were about the same, but was usually 3rd in its time period. As the season went on, QL did not have the strenght to fite the other top 25 shows in its time period (Full House, Rescue 911).

The Series Finale was on Wednesday, May 5th at 10pm. It drew 20.6 million viewers and ranked 16th for the week, and won its time slot.

Its low point seemd to about the time the Evil Leaper was appearing, in season 5.

There was a lot of residual affection for QL, which led to good ratings for its finale. But for most of its run, it struggled in the ratings. And it was, by far, the longest-running time travel show to ever appear on an American network (Time Tunnel only ran for one 30-ep season).

Doctor Who (the original series) ran for over a quarter of a century, but in fact very few of the serials deal with The Doctor visiting some period in the earth's past--that was quickly found to be too limiting to sustain a long-running show, and they ended up having him visit other planets and the future a lot more often.

Thanks for the info, tv-aholic.

You're damn straight. I recorded it last night not knowing that it was going to be screwed up the much. Now I read that it didn't start till 9;45?! So I must have only half the episode.
Does ABC offer an online version?

Thank You fellow BIG BROTHER fan.

There's rumors that FOX has pulled B2Y and TD from the sweeps schedule. Looks like the strike has taken its first victims.

What they should do is resurrect FIRE ME PLEASE...that was a very entertaiing CBS reality show a few summers ago. I was sorry it got the boot...

They probably want to save them for an idol bump.

I agree that it was a good show. It would have been a good filler series to fill in the gaps.

The fun of Quantum Leap wasn't the time travel part. Yeah, it was interesting to see different time periods at first. But that interest kind of wears off after Sam has travelled to the 60's for the third or fourth time.

The fun was watching Sam become other people, male and female. Watching Sam struggling to act like the cop, or rock star, or single mother he'd leaped into, and interact with all the other people in that person's life, was the really fun part of that series. So, long after the time travel aspect got old, the "living different lives" part kept fans interested.

Most time travel shows focus on the time travel part. Which, like I said, can get pretty old pretty fast.
