This is probably an exaggerated number but I want to guess 20.58 million for the mentalist just because of the no competition and increased advertising this week. We'll see tomorrow. Tonights ep was real good!
I don't think that's an impossible number Matt. I've been very pleased with that show so far.

UB is a dramedy. Bones is a procedural. Very different programs. Both will be able to survive in the same time period. 5th Grader did more damage to Betty than anything in the past, a kids show. I still think Betty has a lot of family viewers.

20/20: HSM (120 minutes) - 2.912 million viewers - 1.0/3 HH - 0.9/2 A18-49 *did this beat the HSM reality show from the summer for worst original ratings from ABC?*
Close, but no cigar.
'High School Musical: Get in the Picture' reached even lower in the depths of Nielsen ignomy, with a 1.4HH/2%, 0.5 A18-49, 2,020,000 viewers for the August 18th, 2008 episode, which is an all-time ABC network low for original programming.
This '20/20' version last night, a thoughtful and perceptive documentary, merited the better numbers it got as it was much more compelling and told in news-documentary format rather than the typical reality celebration of outrageous personalities.

Hmm..an article I was reading made it seem like they had wrapped the filming of the final episode. Sorry for my misunderstanding. Do you think MOWE's producers did the cliffhanger in the hopes they could shop the show elsewhere? It doesn't make all that much sense the way they did it if they did have advance notice. Hey, a girl can hope. LOL
what am i missing? this show is like murder, she wrote???? I don't find it interesting at all. Don't get me wrong, not saying it is horrible; just don't understand how it can be the most watched show on tv.

I agree that the Mentalist is a very good show. Robin Tunney was really strong last night. The interplay between the two main characters is pushing this show upwards.
The ratings for last night should be helped by an outstanding episode of NCIS.
It's not my cup of tea but remember, Murder She Wrote last about 165 seasons. There's a large market for shows that are more anesthetic than entertainment.

The Big Bang Theory & How I Met Your Mother entered the TOP 20 for the first time together last week and now this week they set another record and could be placed higher on the chart.
What a growth week to week for the hottest shows on the tube right now.
Men had a huge performance on Monday and they wasted an airing of Worst Program for it, Rules could've gotten some extra exposure out of that historic rating.
Prison Break is a really great show right now and people agree with that, but the show unfortunately has a bad reputation from seasons 2 & 3 to ever recover that audience and is on the down side of its run. T:SCC is going to struggle big time on Fridays, but this show should be doing better than Chuck.
Christine and Gary look really funny tonight and could inch closer to 8.5 million viewers or stay the same as last week. The usual CM and NY always hold my interest as well.
As for the ratings last night, I hope Momma's Boys really bombs out the gate b/c that's one of the worst reality ideas I've ever heard of just like True Beauty on ABC.

I agree here Cobo, The Mentalist really is the one new show this season that has gotten me hooked. Its not your average procedural b/c the characters are strong in their roles and chemistry. Simon and Robin are definitely meant to be partners big time. NCIS was also good and I feel without a new House there will be a record setting rating for the two programs that should be at least over 18 or 19 million viewers close to 20 million viewers.
Gary and Allison on Gary Unmarried has a good chemistry too.
As others have said, The Mentalist is just a likeable show! The cast works well (Simon Baker brings a perfect mix of light and dark) and the stories are enjoyable, without being too grim or too complicated. And when the camera hesitates for a second on the things/events that Jane notices, you wonder if you can piece the crime together too.
It's not rocket science, but it's a nice little procedural.
Is there any site where i can find a list with the premiere dates for the new midseason cable and network shows and also those for the returning shows? Any help is appreciated, thanks
Historic? Hmmm. Yes, perhaps if history began in 2006.
