I think NBC would consider trying, but Moonves the a$$ will likely make it very difficult for the show to end up on NBC. If I was ABC though, I would keep saying I'm going to pick up Christine the minute CBS cancels it. That kept Scrubs on the air for years.

I would have thought they would have brought up the final week of the 2004 season also, but that's just me.

Jokes about Canadians are always funny. They rank right up there with jokes about old people (perfect for TV forums). I will definitely be adding the 'afraid of the dark' joke to the repertoire .

I agree and the Minnesota Vikings jokes were great too! And might I add, truthful! Big Grin

Bones and Ugly Betty are not the same audiences. If anything, all those procedural nuts who watch Survivor before CSI will be the ones with the tough decision.

ABC is stronger on Mondays than Thursdays at 8. CBS is stronger on Monday at 8 than Thursday at 8 (at least demo-wise most weeks). Fox Thursdays at 8 will end up weaker than Fox Mondays at 8. How again is moving Chuck to Thursdays a bad move? Oh right! It's not.

I agree. But Chuck isn't nearly strong enough to deal with the increased Thursday competition. No matter how many times the schedule gets rearranged, MNIE is still the strongest show NBC has for that spot.

But no matter how they try to shelter it, the competition won't stay weak indefinitely, and the show won't stay at its current levels once viewers have better options.

That hour is doing alright but no where near as well as it needs to be to stay on Les Moonves run CBS. A move to Sunday for both of them and an eventual expansion to 2 hours on Sunday nights would be the best move.

I don't think we have to worry about that happening. CBS is far too much in the denial business. Its why Without a Trace has always had a massive lead in. Ditto for Rules of Engagement (which even I think would be a better 9:30 Monday occupant for them). Worst Week will likely air its last episode this January/early February and then never see the light of day again just like the Class two years ago.

With the other three sitcoms booming, and improving their time slots from last year about 30% that time slot is way down. I bet if ROE was in that time slot last night it would have gotten almost a 5 demo. I know someone at CBS loves WW, but its numbers are good only on paper. In reality those numbers are really bad for that time slot, especially when the other three sitcoms are exploding over last year in their time slots.

I know The Class had 18 episodes and WW has 16 so that is similar. Do you remember if CBS had this undying love for The Class like they do WW ? What makes me wonder if WW survives for a second season is that CBS just seems to love it. They promote it a lot, and brag about it every chance they get. You should see how they bragged about it hitting all these highs this week, when it was clearly the weak link of the night.

The networks have to stop making excuses that the economy is hurting television ratings. Thats a load of bull. CBS has all there shows go over 11 million viewers? THATS AMAZING! The last 5 minutes of BBT last night was HILARIOUS! I could not stop laughing; until How I Met Your Mother started. If I miss HIMYM its not a big deal anymore. I don't think it is all that funny anymore. 2.5 Men was also great last night. WW, didnt bother watching. CSI:Miami was good as well.

I agree. That's correct, although CBS had no problems giving "Caroline in the City" to NBC. The only reason "Worst Half Hour" is a co-production is because CBS asked for a piece of it. Universal, in turn, asked for Mondays 9:30/8:30 in exchange for a piece of it. So they both won. The only losers in this? Everybody watching "Two and a Half Men" and "CSI: Miami."

Not entirely correct. Much like "Gary Unmarried" which is co-produced by ABC Studios and CBS Paramount Network TV, "Worst Week" is also a co-production. "Week" is not only produced by Universal Media Studios but also CBS Paramount Network TV.

Since CBS also has a stake in the success or failure of "Week", the network could make things difficult if NBC decided to rummage through CBS's trash looking for something else to throw against the wall to see if it sticks.

"Better Off Ted," Wednesdays at some time or another at some point or another in the near future. Because we can't all live in mansions and not ever work like the people on "Modern Family."

Worst Week is growing weekly, like the Wednesday comedies CBS is giving them time and it's paying off. I bet we'll see a second season of Worst Week, maybe scheduled earlier or on another night.

MyNetworkTV Racks Up Another Big Number for Encore Theatrical

When a network is on a roll, and make no mistake MyNetworkTV is on a veritable roll right now, good Nielsens fall like pennies from heaven.

Mr. Hal Boedeker reports that MyNet attracted 2.2 million viewers last night for an encore screening of 'Grumpier Old Men', a 1995 theatrical starring Miss Sophia Loren, Mr. Burgess Meredith, Mr. Walter Mathau and Mr. Jack Lemmon, and first broadcast on NBC back in 1999.

While I'm not holding my breath on 'Grumpier Old Men's' A18-49 numbers, it is nice to see broadcast network tv staging a comeback this December, with numbers on most nights up from last year.

And who is first and foremost in helping broadcast stage this comeback against cable? MyNetworkTV, who were:
  • up in the week of December 1-7 by +110% in A18-49 demo and +129% in viewers;
  • up last week December 8-14 by +94% in demo and +50% in viewers; and
  • up +83% in viewers last night.

As others said before, Chuck is not moving to Thursdays. I don't know why it keeps being brought up. It's a terrible move. I know you dislike MNIE and bring up it's decline frequently (yet deny the declines of other shows like AFV and UB which you seem to like) but right now it's the best option NBC has for Thursday. It's stable which is more than you can say for a lot of their lineup.

You are moving MNIE which is producing a solid 6.5 to 7 million and mid 2 demo, the same that Chuck is finally getting to with reduced competition. There is no track record that it will do any better on Thursdays and in fact, as brought up earlier, it did worse moved to Thursdays. You are then putting it up against two comedies (UB and Bones, whether you see it or not, it does have a comedic element to it and pulls in those viewers) and Survivor which is very steady. There's no room for Chuck. If you are trying to kill it for good, scheduling it here is a good idea. If you are trying to grow it, it's not.
