I'm not sure why you want to specifically compare Chuck with Terminator only.
Um--because they're the only two action-oriented genre-based dramas that have asskicking hotties as supporting characters that air in that timeslot?
quote:
Anyway your statement about Terminator is not right anyway. Besides the season opener and one really bad week, Terminator has averaged between the mid to low 5 millions all season.
It's gone down quite a bit in the demo, and that's all that's relevant to a show like Chuck--it can't stay on the air very long on the basis of such low overall audience #'s. SCC collapsed, and that helped Chuck over time, to a certain extent--there just isn't a big enough audience for this type of show--certainly not to support two of them in the same timeslot, even of one of them is a dorky spyshow parody, and the other is a dorky attempt to leverage an old Schwarzennegger franchise.
quote:
No one is claiming Chuck is a hit or NBC's best show.
Gee, thanks.
quote:
But everyone knows NBC's shows have struggled this year.
And how many of them get lower ratings than Chuck?
quote:
I don't know if you're upset because your prediction that Chuck would not get ratings better than its season opener was wrong, or this is some Flyer Fly thing.
Oooh, I'm so going to steal that.
quote:
Anyway this is all probably doesn't matter in the long run because I agree with everyone else here that Chuck will get hurt in the ratings when House starts (and apparently DWTS is coming back as well).

How exactly are they killing Chuck? They leave it in the same timeslot all season, give it a run that is pretty much repeat/interruption free and have allowed it to grow over the season. That sounds exactly the opposite of killing it.
Chuck is doing well. Up almost 2 million from the beginning of the season. Yes the new Mondays will be killer. I do think it would warrant moving both Chuck and Heroes, but I would keep them together. I think Wednesday is a much better placement than Thursday.

I really think it would be an excellent Thursday 8pm option. Bones isn't all that strong. Ugly Betty is very female and Survivor is no Dancing with the Stars.

What is going to do get killed though is Chuck, which in my opinion should be moved to Thursdays in place of dying Earl and the atrocious Kath and Kim. Heroes should get moved as well.

Even though I think House will be strong, it will not be as strong as it has been on Tuesday. You would be amazed how loyal a fan base the CBS sitcoms have built. They are about as big a buzz in the TV forums as they have been in the ratings.

DWtS BBT/HIMYM Chuck
My Hope is that DWtS takes the hit so Chuck and the comedies can continue to grow.

What? Bones have shown growth over this season and is one of the most reliable players for FOX. It's move to Thursday will kill off the dying UB for good.

NBC isn't killing Chuck. In fact, it's doing the opposite by letting it grow under weak competition. Moving it to Thursdays is a terrible idea. You get rid of MNIE which has been a steady player in that slot and you throw it against Bones and whatever is left of UB when Bones comes in. Not to mention Survivor. Chuck will surely lose ratings.

But no matter how they try to shelter it, the competition won't stay weak indefinitely, and the show won't stay at its current levels once viewers have better options.
I agree. But Chuck isn't nearly strong enough to deal with the increased Thursday competition. No matter how many times the schedule gets rearranged, MNIE is still the strongest show NBC has for that spot.

They did. It was called Wednesdays at 8 PM. CBS has to work on that slot before expanding another hour.

I really like chuck its pretty good, and im pretty sure Thursdays at 8:00 would kill it. during this time last year the show was getting 8mil watching then it aired thursday at 8:00 and got 6.9mil then at 10:00 it got 7.1Mil.
and i think that worst week is really bad i mean 12.2mil is good but behind two and a half men it should do better. i agree, i think Gary unmarried should take its place. maby it will grow like Everybody loves raymond did, when it left fridays.
