Note: Any prior rating results are based on the final nationals. Also, since the level of DVR penetration has increased from 9 percent in early 2006-07 to approximately 20 percent at present, the overall results may be negatively impacted.
----------
-Yesterday’s Winners: Survivor: China (CBS), CSI (CBS), Without a Trace (CBS)
-Honorable Mention: Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader? (Fox), Don’t Forget the Lyrics (Fox)
-Yesterday’s Losers (excluding repeats): 30 Rock (NBC)
----------
-Ratings Breakdown: A night of all original programming led CBS to an easy Thursday victory, virtually doubling No. 2 Fox in total viewers with a first-place finish in every half hour. NBC held the No. 2 spot among adults 18-49, while repeat riddled ABC sunk to No. 4 in both total viewers and the demo. The CW was, of course, fifth.
CBS’ still addictive Survivor: China opened the evening with 14.47 million viewers and a 4.5 rating/13 share among adults 18-49 at 8 p.m., which was similar to Cooks Island on the year-ago evening. Don’t forget that the season finale airs this Sunday beginning at 8 p.m. ET. Fox was on the map care of older skewing Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader? (Viewers: #2, 8.97 million; A18-49: #3, 2.5/ 7), while a one-hour repeat edition of NBC’s Emmy winning The Office was third in total viewers (5.87 million) and second among adults 18-49 (2.7/ 8).
Capping off the 8 p.m. hour was a repeat of ABC’s Ugly Betty (Viewers: #4, 4.97 million; A18-49: #5, 1.4/ 4), which does not play well in repeats, and an original episode of the CW’s Smallville (Viewers: #5, 3.84 million; A18-49: #4, 1.5/ 4).
CBS mega-hit CSI (which does not get the recognition it deserves) scored a solid 19.79 million viewers and a 6.1/16 among adults 18-49 at 9 p.m. Fox sleeper Don’t Forget the Lyrics, which fits well out of Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader? and is a vast improvement over year-ago occupant The O.C., was second in total viewers (7.53 million) and tied with NBC for No. 2 among adults 18-49 (2.7/ 7). NBC aired a 9 p.m. edition of 30 Rock (Viewers: #4, 5.58 million; A18-49: #2, 2.8/ 7) and the first half-hour of a 90-minute Saturday Night Live Christmas repeat (Viewers: #4, 5.52 million; A18-49: #2t, 2.7/ 7). Elsewhere in the hour was a repeat of Grey’s Anatomy (Viewers: #3, 7.18 million; A18-49: #4, 2.6/ 7), another show that does not have much of an audience outside of originals, and a new installment of the CW’s Supernatural (Viewers: #5, 3.20 million; A18-49: #5, 1.2/ 3).
Without a Trace kept CBS’ large dominance alive at 10 p.m., with a healthy 15.13 million viewers and a 4.0/12 among adults 18-49. Second was the 10-11 p.m. portion of NBC’s Saturday Night Live Christmas encore (Viewers: 5.82 million; A18-49: 2.7/ 8), followed by a repeat of ABC’s Private Practice (Viewers: 4.75 million; A18-49: 1.7/ 5). Overall, Saturday Night Live Christmas averaged 5.72 million viewers and a 2.7/ 8 among adults 18-49 from 9:30-11 p.m.
CSI performs like the hit that it is. Conistent ratings and just all around near infallibilty. Where's the Sara leaving ratings crater? Non-existent because CSI is still CSI.
sleeper Don’t Forget the Lyrics, which fits well out of Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?
Fits well especially in terms of low quality and sub-3-demo, and it managed to lose viewers too. How these two hours of unimaginative game shows get an 'Honorable' is hard to understand; except that Fox ratings last year was even worse perhaps. With these standards, the replacements of K-ville and NGAB should be triumphs.
Also, 30Rock beats it in demo and gets a 'Loser' tag. No comment.

"30 Rock" did okay IMO, having to pull more than its weight as the only truly original content of NBC's lineup. It's hard to read much else from the night, just too many reruns.

Nice numbers for CSI and WAT. CBS deserved those numbers beacause this time they respected the viewers unlike ABC What happened to Smallville, that's another bad news for CW (like it needed more)
WOW...ABC is going to get absolutely slaughtered come January every single day of the week! Seriously, what day do they have where they can eek out AT LEAST 2nd place showing? Certainly not Thursday..Wednesdays look blah...you can forget Sundays...Fridays maybe?

Ever since I've seen Marc criticize 30 Rock's ratings you've been really pissy about everything he says. He's simply pointing out the shows low ratings. If you hate all of his opinions now, then why do you continue to post here?
Did you see Todd's face when PG was voted off? What a jack-ass. And I thought that was awful of Denise to root for Amanda like that. She has no class. Obviously, I am rooting for Amanda.

Denise is a scumbag for leaving PG behind.
Todd and Courtney are loathsome and Denise is the definition of coat tail rider.
So by default that only leaves me rooting for Amanda since my favorite PG is gone...

I don't 'hate' Marc's opinions at all, I'm just pointing out the low ratings that Fox usually gets should be judged much more harshly, since this network can reach AI numbers.

Thanks, PennNova. When I label 30 Rock a loser, it is because of the ratings. And, yes, it is a loser.

Private Practice's new Thursday repeat did about the same as its Wednesday repeat. But considering a lot of the Grey's audience doesn't watch the show in originals, the fall-off from the GA repeat to the PP repeat doesn't bode well for a possible schedule change.
Would be funny if ABC put PP after GA when the strike's over, correcting a scheduling mistake... although I think PP is a FAR worse show than Big Shots! I mean, it's really testing the depths of insipid.
