I agree. I have watched each season of AI and the only winners i can even remember from the auditions are carrie underwood and fantasia. maybe that old guy too, but i never paid much attention to him.

But doesn't it make more sense for people to wait until the first finalist show comes out before making judgements and jumping ship. As I heard in an article, Jordan was barely even on during the "audition" episodes.

Actually, Jordin Sparks is the only winner not featured in the auditions/hollywood episodes. Kelly Clarkson, Ruben Studdard, Fantasia, Carrie Underwood and Taylor Hicks all had their moments in both auditions and in hollywood.
The producers have ideas on whom they want to pimp to a possible win (last season was Melinda and Blake), but sometimes, they cannot predict whom America will start to like as we go along.

They put this show on hiatus for two months; bring it back; upon its return, it scores ratings so horrific they put it in serious jeopardy of not even burning off the remainder of the episodes during the strike; and then the second week back on the air, they show a repeat. Is McFearsome retarded?
Yes, this was extremely stupid.
No comment on that, but it reminded me of a comment a few days ago with someone calling for the return of Lloyd Braun and Susan Lyne, the team that ordered LOST, Desperate Housewives, and Grey's Anatomy, only to get fired and see McPherson get all the credit next season.
Braun actually has a very promising pilot at ABC, Section 8, about about a team of everyday people with advanced neurological abnormalities who work for a secret government agency. Yes, it sounds a lot like Heroes, but it also could be like LOST. In fact, if I remember correctly, LOST came about from an idea Braun pitched to JJ, basically saying, "What if we do a drama like Survivor." Although he didn't write or develop it, he had the good instincts. The question is, will McPherson pick this one up?
I think I know why this year you'll see more syrupy, heart-tugging features on "Idol" contestants.
This tactic, dubbed "Up Close And Personal", has been part of TV coverage of the Olympics since the late 1960's.
But critics have repeatdely pointed over the years that "Up Close And Personal" features during the Olympics have turned the Games into a soap opera which appeals more to female viewers (and remember, "soccer moms" are the key demographic in contemporary advertising) while turning-off those who point out that the Olympics are a sporting event and should be covered on television as such.
But all-in-all, "Up Close And Personal"-type featurettes are a much better fit for "American Idol" than the Olympics.

I could have easily overlooked that. There are usually large amounts of wine being imbibed at any AI party at my house!

No, I haven't. But what do you think, will McPHee pick up Section 8?
No. too much ego involved. you should definitely read desperate networks. It's by Bill Carter, the same guy who wrote The Late Shift

As long as Section 8 isn't a relationship drama, ABC should really think about picking it up. They need something different as their dramas aren't cutting it. They could really benefit from a well made horror series.

I agree -- I was just thinking about how a Stephen King mini-series would be excellent counterprogramming to AI's premiere next season. I went back and looked, and my favorite Stephen King miniseries, The Stand got killer ratings (pun intended ), with 33 million viewers it was the 2nd most watched tv show, beating shows like Seinfeld. In that week, ABC had 9 of the top 10 shows... That was in the mid-90s, and the last time ABC finished 1st for an entire season...
