I think "The Usual BL Audience" needs to be reduced to 7 million and a 2 in the demo. It only reaches 10 mil with help of DWts as a lead in
They ran the season finale of Boston Legal last year a week after sweeps and it still was able to pull just shy of 10 million viewers. The problem is with ABC and how they schedule BL, not with BL itself. Up until the last few episodes, it was UP year-to-year, while most shows (even the biggies) were down year-to-year.

They said they would concentrate more this season on us getting to know the people inside and out, beyond just their singing.
Is it just me or when the show does someones pity story (like the girl with the damaged kid), you automatically roll your eyes and get turned off? I am not malicious or anything, and I feel bad that her daughter has a muscle disease, but do we really need that whole segment prior to her audition?

Its called spin when you cant win in either viewers or demo.
Its from the book "How to make your small package look better" by ABC Press.

It's not going to happen because there is no other show that can approach AI in the demo. I mean the highest non-sports, non-special and non-FOX demos are for Grey’s and Housewives and we are talking high 7's at the best.. DWTS is a big hit mostly because of total viewers (which should count) but it would get doubled, at least, in the demo against AI.
I don't believe there is any exec. at one of the other big four nets this morning going; I wonder if we put .... up against Idol ......maybe we could ..... More likely they are still shaking there heads that very little can be done against this show six years on.
I know, people over 50 should even be allowed to own a TV, much less have programming on a network channel that appeals to them!
Seriously though, it's not like CBS is way behind in the demo. They get more viewers and are still competitive in the 18-49 demo.

As for AI, that is a pretty high peak. So, it fell to 33 million viewers and a 13.8 demo. At that rate of decline, all of the doom and gloom AI will be correct about the shows demise as a powerhouse in say 5 years.
Even Chicken Little was correct about his prediction if you wait a couple billion years.

Didn't they do that when they green lit Carpoolers, Cavemen, Viva Laughlin, Bionic Woman, Cane, Singing Bee, Reaper, Gossip Girl, .....
So, the easiest way to become a winner is to have a show that real, realy sucks more then you do, as your lead in, so you don't look as bad?????

If ABC wants audience growth with BL, they should have a younger-skewing program lead in to it, not that BL deserves it necessarily. But, if that's what they want to do, that's what they should do.

They put this show on hiatus for two months; bring it back; upon its return, it scores ratings so horrific they put it in serious jeopardy of not even burning off the remainder of the episodes during the strike; and then the second week back on the air, they show a repeat. Is McFearsome retarded?

The top highlight in comedy last night was the Paula Abdul stalker singer guy ('If I were Columbo, I'd Peter Falk-er!"). Runner-up was the old bald guy who sang his original ditty, "No Sex Allowed."

I thought i was gonna be turned off, but i really liked that girls story. the story that bothered me was the girl Temptress. Seriously, the my mom's in a wheelchair angle was annoying, especially because she is probably in a wheelchair because she weighs 600 pounds. I think that is just manipulative. Anyway...
