I'll be down there next month and will have to find a way to get online myself. Getting the access will not be the issue though.

BTW what is the daily rate for internet access?

At Pop Century Resort (aka cheapo value resort that blows in my mind) its 10 bucks a day. I wanted to buy one days access but that was too much for some of the stingy folks I was with.

Hi Mushu,

I am going to Disney next month. The $10 daily fee is that to turn on the jack in your room and you must bring your laptop or is there one room with a few computers in it that you must go to?

Thanks

The jack is to use on your own computers. I don't think there were any to use at Pop Century Resort but keep in mind that was a value resort so any resort higher on the chain may have that and perhaps the fee disappears there too.

But absent evidence, it just doesn't make sense that ABC, operating in basically a three-network world, had lower 18-49 demo numbers than it does in today's fractured world of TV.

Remember that the 30th ranked show in the early 70s got higher ratings than last year's #1: American Idol (Wed, 17.3).
70-71 #30 CBS Thursday Movie 19.3
71-72 #30 CBS Friday Movie 19.5
72-73 #29(t) ABC Monday Movie 19.2
#29(t) The FBI (ABC) 19.2
#29(t) Kung Fu (ABC) 19.2
74-75 #30 CBS Thursday Movie 19.9
75-76 #30 Emergency (NBC) 20.0

Given those hard numbers (and remembering that in the 1970-71 season, for example, there were just 66 programs when the season began), it is hard to believe even ABC's worst rated shows did anywhere near as poorly as this year's laggards.

But I am always ready to be swayed by hard evidence.

(These numbers, by the way come from the just-published Ninth Edition of "The Complete Directory To Prime Time Network and Cable TV Shows, 1946-Present". It is a priceless reference book Marc has contributed to over the years.)

Here are some ratings from a week in September, 1974 of some of ABC's aforementioned cellar dwellers.

54. Kolchak: The Night Stalker, ABC, 12.8
57. The Texas Wheelers, ABC, 11.0
58. Kodiak, ABC, 10.2
59. The New Land, ABC, 9.3

"Texas Wheelers" and "Kodiak" (which aired back to back) were both cancelled after 4 episodes a piece. With 10 and 11 household ratings. 'Nuff said.

I can't comment on "Kodiak" or "The New Land" as I've never seen them, but I saw "Texas Wheelers" when the old HA! network ran it in the early '90s (complete with about 5 episodes ABC never ran), and samcat is nuts if he thinks that was "junk." It got glowing reviews, to boot.

"Better Off Ted," Wednesdays at some time or another at some point or another in the near future. Because we can't all live in mansions and not ever work like the people on "Modern Family."

Look here for information about Texas Wheelers, Kodiak, etc: http://www.tvobscurities.com/articles/fall74.php

From this I learned a very young Mark Hamill was on Texas Wheelers before Star Wars.

For all those interested in old shows, check out this fantastic site, tvobscurities.com, a labor of love by someone truly OCD about television.
