Do you think the Affiliates can and will pressure NBC in doing Something else with Leno because it is affecting their local news at 11pm ET / 10pm CT? NBC may not want to move it, but if there is enough uproar from the local station, will NBC HAVE to move Jay to 8pm?

That would pretty much destroy NBC prime time in general in my mind. I think 8pm may actually have more potential for them than 10pm. I'll say it again, the affiliates that are really struggling, were never that strong of affiliates to begin with.

But I heard a report on the radio this week that local newscast, after primetime, are down for the affiliates, almost across the board. Even the stronger stations are seeing a dip in their late night news ratings.
Here is a question to debate.... IF/When Comcast does purchase NBC Universal, would they scrap the local affiliates from those markets they serve cable so they can earn more money from local ad revenue, but NOT pay rights fees to the local station to air their station?

IIRC, the deal to keep Til Death on FOX included a full episode order from last season and this season.

I bet FOX will burn them off on Sundays at 7pm from January-August. If they don't do that, Fridays 8-10pm (four episodes each night) June-August.

All I know is I would not like to be a traditionally weak NBC affiliate right now. You may soon find yourself fighting for your life or having to reinvest in news more than ever to fill time (especially if Comcast takes over). In some cases the NBC affiliate may be able to steal affiliation away from another affiliate but weak NBC affiliates (like Kansas City's) will likely end up independents or closing doors. That's not such a bad thing either. We don't need all these broadcast properties anymore. Just about everybody has cable and with multi-casting, multiple networks can be housed under one roof on one channel.
There are still strong NBC affiliates though. KARE 11 in Minneapolis is flat year to year while competitors are down. I still think local news matters most on content.

I'm going to keep beating this drum, too, on TGW. How long will losing anywhere between .7-1.0 in the demo be acceptable?
I'm sticking by my prediction a few weeks back. TGW is the show to help them rebuild Sunday nite.

Originally posted by WlcmZapataTexas: While this lineup is strong, it's strength is mostly from NCIS. Almost a 5 in the demo is amazing for it. NCIS: LA is still having retention issues keeping the NCIS audience around. However, the bigger problem might be The Good Wife. At first glance, those ratings are good. However, considering that they are just as old skewing as Without A Trace that was cancelled last year for being too old skewing, it should be a cause of concern for CBS. It's also losing a good portion of the demos from NCIS: LA.

Comparably, that built from the year-ago combination of NCIS, The Mentalist and Without a Trace by an average of 1.96 million viewers and 19 percent in the demo.

Something else to consider is just how well would original programming have done? Better, yes, but how much better? They had a hole on Monday, SVU would have been done ok, an expensive ok, L&O would have done adequate, they had a hole on thursday, and friday.
