NBC – My Name is Earl (R) Viewers: 1.82 million (#4), A18-49: 0.5/ 2 (#4)

NBC establishes an all-time Original Three network viewership low with that 1.82 million viewer count, and ties an NBC all-time primetime A18-49 low (a record it now shares with "Countdown with Keith Olbermann").
It continues to elude me as to why the Original Three have not copied FOX's Saturday night strategy (which has been A18-49 winning since the '90s) and run original reality on Saturday nights...this is the night ABC should have been running "Duel" and "Dance Machine"...even burn-offs of cancelled series with on-the-shelf unaired episodes would probably do better for ABC, CBS and NBC than some of the encores they programmed last night.
Ho-Hum...FOX Triumphs Again in A18-49, Having Won 12 of 17 Nights So Far in the 2008 July Sweep
Last night FOX won its 12th of 17 nights of the July Sweep in A18-49, and it is averaging a 2.0 in A18-49 after 17 nights. NBC follows in second with 1.6, ABC and CBS tied for third with 1.5, The CW fifth with 0.6, and MyNetworkTV last with a 0.3 average.
Year-over-year, ABC is the only network up in A18-49's (by 3%), whereas all the other networks are showing A18-49 declines from last July. Overall, A18-49 is down 9% across the six nets from last July, and the largest year-over-year declines are being experienced by the repeat-heavy MyNetworkTV (down 23%), The CW (down 18%) and CBS (down 16%).
After 17 nights, CBS holds on to its customary lead in viewership, with FOX in second, NBC third, ABC fourth, CW fifth and MNT is last. In viewership, ABC, FOX and CBS are showing gains from last July (NBC is even to last year), and overall viewership is surprisingly up by 1% (roughly 162,000 viewers) over last July, especially surprising because this year included the low-viewer Fourth of July holiday. The biggest year-over-year decline in viewership is being experienced by The CW, which is down 18% or 382,000 viewers from last summer, and fellow mini-net MyNetworkTV which is also down 10% or 102,000 viewers from last July.

Nota Bene. This year's Sweep includes the low-A1849/HUT/viewer Fourth of July whereas last year's Sweep started on July 5th and did not include the Fourth of July.
NBC should stop airing repeats of My Name is Earl. Instead they should air a repeats of The Biggest Loser specials from a few years back. It can't do any worse then My Name is Earl, and it may actually get people to watch again.
ABC should dump Eli Stone. Obliviously no one likes that show. Plus it lost over the half hour. Perhaps air repeats of something else.
Side note: Wipeout airs repeats on 8/2 at 8pm and 9pm following into another repeat of Eli Stone.

Marc will post the Over nights around 10-10:30 am, on his daily column. That will only show the HH ratings and shares.
Sometime around Noon, he will post the Fast Nationals that will give the Viewer numbers, based on the Half hour ratings. He will then pair those numbers up with the individual shows.
Final numbers will not be out until around mid-day on Tuesday
