Flashpoint is down from last week. :/

Wow, CW has more demo wins than CBS.

Flashpoint had an incrase in the half hour which is good, but it did lose about a million of its audience from last week and is now tied for the demos. When you look at the second weeks numbers, it isn't as impressive as first weeks. If it falls again by another million next week, it'll be as dead as Swingtown and Greatest American Dog.

The CW actually wins every half hour between 8-10PM. I don't think The CW ever won the adults demo 18-49 on a night. And that is something The CW should be really happy with, even if it's in the summer.
But maybe 90210 really takes off in the fall and The CW will play a role on Tuesdays. Who knows whta's going to happen.

Flashpoint's drop:
Is it due to viewers like me that found the show not worth watching after week #1 or is it due to viewers not being smart enough to know when a TV show is on (how else can you explain the near 3/4million uptick during the show)?

Either way, Flashpoint won't see a season #2. Greatest American Dog still has the best shot of surviving to a second 'season' on CBS.

FOX: When will networks learn that movie reruns just won't cut it on broadcast TV?

Smackdown: Solid growth throughout the night. The wrestling 'powers that be' rigged up a 'draft' to stack the deck in Smackdown's favor come this Fall's switch to MNTV. It remains to be seen if the 'big names' will actually stay on Smackdown or if it was just a temporary gimmick to try and boost ratings for the initial network move, but either way it at least means that wrestling is making a concerted effort to support the franchise.

The CW has won the A18-49 about 10 times since their inception, always on Friday nights when WWE Smackdown is on.

jThe rise at 10:30 is basically due to the fact that it's summer and during the summer HUT levels rise in the 10pm hour. Even 20/20 increased at the half hour. Only Dateline droped.

FOX Still Leads in A18-49 After 16 Days of 2008 July Sweep; Six Nets Up in Viewers from Last July

FOX continues to maintain its A18-49 advantage over the other nets where it averages a 2.1 in A18-49, followed by NBC in second with 1.6, ABC and CBS tied for third with 1.5, The CW fifth with 0.6, and MyNetworkTV last with a 0.3 average.

Year-over-year, ABC is the only network up in A18-49's (by 5%), whereas all the other networks are showing A18-49 declines from last July. Overall, A18-49 is down 9% across the six nets from last July, and the largest year-over-year declines are being experienced by the repeat-heavy MyNetworkTV (down 24%), The CW (down 18%) and CBS (down 15%).

After 16 nights, CBS holds on to its customary lead in viewership, with FOX in second, NBC third, ABC fourth, CW fifth and MNT is last. In viewership, ABC, FOX and CBS are showing gains from last July (NBC is even to last year), and overall viewership is surprisingly up by 1% (roughly 200,000 viewers) over last July, especially surprising because this year included the low-viewer Fourth of July holiday. The biggest year-over-year decline in viewership is being experienced by The CW, which is down 18% or 382,000 viewers from last summer, and fellow mini-net MyNetworkTV which is also down 13% or 146,000 viewers from last July.

*MyNetworkTV for first 15 nights only.

Last nights numbers are based on FAST national numbers. Previous nights and last years comparative numbers are based upon final Nielsen numbers.

Nota Bene. This year's Sweep includes the low-A1849/HUT/viewer Fourth of July whereas last year's Sweep started on July 5th and did not include the Fourth of July.

I don't buy that as an across the board explanation. Flashpoint didn't have a 3/4million rise last week at the half hour.

Like Douglas said, the nets should run the movies when they first release to DVD. Imagine how good they would do!

The Dark Night:
Speechless. Unbelievably well done. Best. Joker. Ever. Two Face was awesome. One freakin intense movie. I'm still trying to digest it all. Ledger better get nominated, if not win Best Supporting Actor. Not only is this the best comic book movie to date, it is one of the best films ever made.

ABC is so stupid, they should do 2 hours of AFHV and they could win in the demo.

Does anyone actually think that network executives are in their office thinking that movies will do great in the ratings?

It's not a matter of them knowing that movies don't do great in ratings. They have access to the same numbers we do, even more. Clearly, they have a reason for it or else they wouldn't be doing it.

Networks forced to take a 'loss' so that parent companies can garner DVD sales and 'good favor' relationships with other studios?

FLASHPOINT - the 1.5 demo is perilous for orig drama even for friday and summer. Beyond that, let's see what it does out of COLD CASE Sunday nite and if these encores continue.

Quality wise, ep 2 was a bit of a letdown. While this has been tabbed a cop procedural, it is really more accurately a "crisis" procedural and these eps are harder to bring off than a whodunit. The credibility bar is higher in terms of the acting, avoiding melodrama, etc.

I think ep 2 bit off a bit more than it could chew.

While many were impressed with the premiere ratings, and they were certainly noteworthy, I actually felt the show had to better than what it did to absorb potential declines and the older slant of the show.

Oh look Duel is getting the numbers that got Dance Machine cancelled.

Well hold on alittle bit longer ABC, one more week.

And I like the show.
