Encore to offer glimpse of second episode By MICHAEL SCHNEIDER
Fox will pad out this Sunday's repeat of the "Fringe" premiere by airing the first four minutes of the series' second episode.
Fox scheduling chief Preston Beckman compared the ploy to the end of a mystery novel, when publishers frequently print the first chapter of the next book in order to tease up more interest.
"Fringe" will also be preceded by an extended scene from the upcoming 20th Century Fox TV feature "The Day the Earth Stood Still," as well as a preview of the two-hour November TV movie "24: Redemption."
Fox is using the "Fringe" teaser (which will air directly following the episode) and the "Day the Earth Stood Still" and "24: Redemption" clips in order to fill out the full 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. block on Sunday.
That's because the "Fringe" premiere clocks in at an hour and 35 minutes. Fox is airing a special edition of "Hole in the Wall" to fill out the rest of the two-hour block tonight.
The full second episode of "Fringe' will air in its normal time slot on Tuesday, Sept. 16 at 9 p.m. "24:Redemption," meanwhile, airs Sunday, Nov. 23 at 8 p.m. And "The Day the Earth Stood Still," starring Keanu Reeves and Jennifer Connelly, opens in theaters on Dec. 12.
He was good on One Life to Live. I think he is good in some things, but maybe his own show - no.
There are literally dozens of worse actors than him.

As for Bones' ratings - that is phenomenal. I think I remember the preview for that one and there were a lot of funny lines by David Boreanaz and I remember laughing at them. I would have watched and should have watched, but I just don't want to start a bunch of new shows. I watch too much TV as it is. I will probably catch it some day.
I personally find it quite miss-able, and I like House even less, but those are two shows that the strike didn't hurt one bit. The strike only hurt shows people didn't want to watch in the first place. And actually, it HELPED some crappy new shows by giving them an excuse to do badly.
But that excuse is going to start wearing very thin this season.

It's not that odd. It's the kind of competition the net has created by selectively promoting their in-house favorites. The network barely supports OTH. It literally has been saved every year by its fans. GG has been given all the attention and network love - so it's certainly noteworthy when OTH outperforms it.
As I expected, FOX Mondays are terrible in the ratings. Both PB and SCC are dead, and it will only get worse when increased competition arrives.

Do the other TV networks promote all of their shows equally? Nope. Networks normally promote newer shows more than older ones. that is the nature of advertising. After all, CW (and its parents) have been paying to promote One Tree Hill with 5 additional years worth of episode cost.

Yeah but OTH deserved those 5 more years, GG should've been already canceled.
And BTW OTH NEVER, and i say once again NEVER got the promotion GG gets. But i agree it didn't really need it being such a good show. On the other hand promotion, tons of promotion it's the only thing that can save (at least for now) the life of such a crappy show like GG.
I mean the first 5 minutes of the GG season premiere made me sick. Is really sex the only think CW can think about when they promote this show?
I was afraid of that. Creatively, the show was at its peak last spring when it laughed circles around the "still finding its footing" Back to You (which I also liked but not as much).

I find this quite funny. Every year FOX unveils a "year-long schedule" which inevitably involves "Bones" and/or "House" moving to Friday nights. Q. How many times has it actually happened? A. Never. There has always been a reason to either keep shows in their original time slot or to move them some place that isn't Friday and giving that time slot over to some cheapo reality show. This year will be no different.
Monday nights are really a mixed bag this season. Deal or no Deal has really been taking a plunge lately - it should be doing over 10 million. America's Toughest Jobs went down by quite a lot this week, against competition. But, I'm sure NBC is happy with those numbers-LOL
Fox is not off to a great start so far. I don't get why Sarah Conner and Prison Break get so much more promotion than Bones, yet Bones outperforms both easily. They treat Bones like it's a failing show, when it had the highest premiere for them last week. Makes no sense to me. Maybe FOX should have kept SCC at 9pm and PB at 8pm. They have a filled schedule for midseason, so I think 1 of the 2 shows may be cancelled early - my guess is Prison Break, since SCC is much more hyped about.
And the CW shows got identicle numbers to last week. I think they're finally making a rebound this season.

The key words you use is "this season". The season does not start until September 22. FOX and the CW are trying to get a jump on things. I would not judge anything until ABC, CBS and NBC's regular lineup join in on September 22. All this praise of the CW operating against no competition is premature.

I see your point, but I still think the numbers will stay relatively the same once the regular season does start. And, I still consider the fall season here, even though it hasn't officially started yet.

I think NBC will be happy with the fact that ATJ was tops in the demos with a production cost that is a fraction of the competition and the fact that it grew so much in the demos from DOND. However, it can't be happy with DOND's ratings or the fact that DOND is getting older and older.
I agree that FOX Monday's will be shaken up before November. They have to. It's terrible. My guess is T:SCC gets the boot. It debuted worse than PB and will get killed when Chuck comes in.
I really don't know why Bones doesn't get treated better.
As for CW rebounding, Twins12 is right. Wait until everything comes in. The numbers still aren't that impressive.

I think the CW has done a great job getting their shows sampled by going early, but I kind of think there is someone out there watching GG or OTH that may switch over to watch DWTS or a CBS sitcom once the season starts. They also will lose some viewers to Chuck and Heroes, too.
