Dekker's acting is so terrible, it brings the show down. His character isn't well written, but a more talented and appealing actor could at least bring some life to the part.
I don't think any of the actors are good--Glau is certainly attractive, but she's playing a robot--her acting range is up to the task, anyway.
But yeah, I look at Dekker and think "the human race is doomed." And if he's the best we can do, good riddance. Go machines! Terminate the mopey moron and his moody mom!

Yeah, I just love how everyone is so cock-sure of themselves that Fringe is going to be some gret success. Ditto for Dollhouse.
I'm not trying to be combative or anything, but who is the "everyone" you speak of? Have any tv columnints from tvguide, ew, washingtonpost etc. done an analysis of the likelihood of success of the new fall shows? Or are we going by ad rates for the new fall shows?
"As for Gossip Girl, and according to the CW: last night’s episode tied as the second highest rated installment of the series in adults 18-34, women 18-34, adults 18-49; building over the year-ago second telecast of the season by as much as 45 percent among adults 18-49."
Somebody correct me if my recollection is faulty, but last season, didn't GG only have one week before Private Practice premiered against it? So naturally, this season with limited competion in its second week it did better. The spin to make GG 'a hit no matter what' continues. Good for OTH --building on GG and with a fraction of the promotion.

On the other hand is CW really happy about GG's numbers? I wouldn't be. Seeing OTH beating GG in every category must've given Ostroff a heart attack. Maybe she'll switch the slots.
I could'nt agree with you more. It is pure and utter bullshit that CW keeps coming out with in respect to GG. When is Miss O going to finally concede that GG is not going to cut it---if it was not for the metropolitan areas it would be an outright disaster.

I haven't seen any ad rates for the Fall shows yet, but Fringe did show up at #1 in the 'list of new shows people are most aware of'. It remains to be seen if initial hype and first week viewing will carry over to the season as a whole.
The whole point of doing a show like this is that people show up to watch it, REGARDLESS OF WHAT ELSE IS ON. It's supposed to be appointment TV, not "Is there a game on tonight?" TV.
Who cares if it's cable or not? Viewers are viewers. People that would've watched Terminator and others go and watch the Football games. That explains some of the poor ratings. Or are you telling me that these games don't affect ratings at all, and that only shows on these broadcast networks are the ones that pull viewers from each other?

I'm sorry, trebek, I was a bit miffed at the comment that Prison Break and Terminator were finished after a few episodes. I continue to watch Prison Break and (I) think it is great. I abandoned all reality and just love the ride. As for Terminator, it never really caught on with me. I think it is because of John's attitude. I don't like whiners and poor attitutdes. It reminds me of the trailers for the movie Hancock. Wil Smith's attitude didn't exactly make me want to rush to the theater because his character didn't seem to care either.
Anyway, it seemed the poster can't wait for Prison Break and Sarah Connor Chronicles to vacate the screen so Fringe and Dollhouse can take over. Plus, I have heard so much hype about both shows and it is just that - hype. Neither are on yet. I intend to watch the premier for Fringe, mostly because the previews look good. I just hate when people trash other shows in favor of others. Anyone remember Canterbury's Law? Where is that now?
PB and SCC have no excuse for their poor numbers. They should be pulling at least what Bones is pulling. If Bones can pull it before the official season starts why wouldn't they?
