The 'news' is in a fight for their life to try and get the truth out while at the same time trying to suck up to the public for ratings; a public that will frequently only watch what they want to see/hear. The result seems to be more and more abandonment of actual news coverage in favor of editorial 'shock jock' style coverage.
Exactly correct. We are dealing with a coordinated attack on the freedom of the press.
If Watergate happened today, would it just be dismissed by Republicans and the right-wing echo chamber as an invention of the "liberal media?" How can someone like Charlie Gibson ask tough questions and avoid being dismissed as someone from the liberal media elite? Isn't he supposed to ask tough questions of politicians? I'd hope he'd ask tough questions of Obama (and Biden) too, but the Republican spin machine is claiming that he never has.
