-Adults 18-49: Fox: 1.7 rating/6 share, CBS: 1.5/ 5, NBC: 1.4/ 5, ABC and CW: 1.3/ 4 each
--------------------
Note: Any prior rating results are based on the final nationals. Since the level of DVR penetration has increased from 13 percent at this same point last year to approximately 23 percent at present, the overall results may be negatively impacted.
----------
-Friday’s Winners: 20/20 (ABC)
-Friday’s Losers (excluding repeats): The ALMA Awards (ABC)
----------
-Ratings Breakdown: Fox finished first in total viewers and adults 18-49 with its combination of Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader? (Viewers: #1, 6.92 million; A18-49: #1, 1.8/ 6) and the season-premiere of Don’t Forget the Lyrics (Viewers: #2, 5.72 million; A18-49: #1, 1.7/ 6). For a low HUT level Friday, these are respectable performances.
First overall in households and second in total viewers and adults 18-49 was CBS its line-up of two episodes of Ghost Whisperer (8 p.m. – Viewers: #2, 5.68 million; A18-49: #2, 1.5/ 5 --- 9 p.m. -- Viewers: #1, 6.16 million; A18-49: #2, 1.6/ 5) and Numb3rs (Viewers: #2, 6.22 million; A18-49: #2, 1.5/ 5). Coming up on CBS Friday at 9 p.m. in three weeks: romantic dramedy The Ex List (which is a long-shot to succeed).
ABC started out slow with annual The ALMA Awards at a mere (and fifth-place) 3.57 million viewers and a 1.0/ 3 among adults 18-49 from 8-10 p.m. But veteran 20/20 rebounded with a time period winning 7.93 million viewers and a 2.1/ 7 in the demo. Comparably, that built from the 9:30 p.m. portion of the ALMA Awards (Viewers: 3.34 million; A18-49: 0.9/ 3) by a hefty 4.59 million viewers and 133 percent in the demo. The soon-to-relocate Wife Swap and Supernanny will move into the 8-10 p.m. block on Oct. 3.
NBC had little of note on Friday with a repeat of America’s Toughest Jobs (Viewers: #5, 3.43 million; A18-49: #4, 1.1/ 4) and a two-hour edition of Dateline (Viewers: #3, 5.42 million; A18-49: #2, 1.6/ 5 from 9-11 p.m.). And the CW capped off the evening with its soon-to-relocate Friday Night Smackdown! at 4.18 million viewers (#4) and a 1.3/ 4 (#4t) among adults 18-49. Coming up on the CW in the Friday 8 p.m. hour in three weeks: the season-premieres of sitcoms Everybody Hates Chris and The Game, which are unlikely to come close to the performance of Smackdown!
The ALMA numbers are really low. Even though it markets to a specialized audience, it should have rated better.
DFTL's season debut was also lower than expected. Those numbers, especially in total viewers, are not that good and will only get worse with increased competition. At 9 PM and with increased viewers for the hour, it should have at least matched AYSTA5thG.
20/20 had a very good pickup from the ALMA Awards.
Originally posted by Justin: CBS and ABC were preempted last night in the LA market due to the train wreck, expect different numbers if and when finals are released.

FOX may of solved their Friday problem somewhat, but the some of their other nights need help now. I'm thinking FOX should move 5th Grader back to Thursday's at 8pm and move Hole in the Wall to Friday, or cancel it.

I think they should test run Hole in the Wall were King of the Hill is and see how it does. I mean i know alot of teens who watch Hole in the Wall and watch American Dad, Family Guy and The Simpsons. I almost never hear about King of the Hill anymore.
Props to the candidate for a great performance under extreme pressure. Charlie Gibson practiced a very biased interviewing style and Palin held up well under the badgering.
Sad to see no SWINGTOWN at 10PM anymore. Hopefully it will land on cable somwhere.

I wish I had been home to see the interview. Not surprising to hear that a news reporter was being biased against a republican candidate.
An a lot of posters hear complain about FOX News.

The problem isn't that Fox is biased for most of these types on the web. The problem is that Fox's big guns aren't biased for the same side as they are. To be fair though, I think Charlie Gibson is perhaps one of the best TV news guys out there. He and Katie are both better than Brian Williams.
