Note: Any prior rating results are based on the final nationals. Since the level of DVR penetration has increased from 20 percent at this same point last year to approximately 28 percent at present, the overall results may be negatively impacted.
----------
-Friday’s Winners: (Keeping in mind the expectations are lower) Ghost Whisperer (CBS), Numb3rs (CBS) – under a two adult 18-49 rating for Flashpoint keeps it off the list
-Friday’s Losers (excluding repeats): Wife Swap (ABC), Howie Do It (NBC), Friday Night Lights (NBC), Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles (Fox), Dollhouse (Fox), Dateline (NBC)
----------
-Ratings Breakdown: Once again, CBS led the Friday troops, remaining the only network to offer a comprehensive line-up of competitive programming. The next time someone refers to Friday as the new Saturday keep in mind this does not include CBS. With that in mind, the Eye net’s Ghost Whisperer opened completely dominant at 8 p.m. with 11.57 million viewers and a 2.8 rating/9 share among adults 18-49 (which was the most-watched and highest rated show in the demo for the evening). Next was Canadian drama Flashpoint (Viewers: #1, 9.17 million; A18-49: #1, 1.9/ 6 at 9 p.m.), which only held 68 percent of the Ghost Whisperer adult 18-49 rating, followed by Numb3rs at 9.61 million viewers (#1) and a 2.1/ 7 in the demo at 10 p.m. Did you know that a recent episode of Numb3rs made reference to Sheldon and Leonard of The Big Bang Theory? Clever cross-promotion!
Second in both total viewers and adults 18-49 was ABC with its combination of Wife Swap (#2, 4.63; A18-49: #2, 1.5/ 5), Supernanny (Viewers: #2, 5.55 million; A18-49: #2, 1.8/ 6) and 20/20, which perked up to 7.10 million viewers and a 2.0/ 6 among adults 18-49 -- second in both categories. Under 5-million viewers clearly makes Wife Swap a “loser.”
In week three news, Fox drama Doll House lost more steam, dipping to 4.13 million viewers (#4) and a 1.6/ 5 among adults 18-49 (#3) a 9 p.m. Take a look at the three-week track for Dollhouse (with episodes one and two based on the final nationals):
As predicted, the target audience for Dollhouse is probably out on Friday ringing in the new weekend. Earlier in the evening on Fox was Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles at an even worse 3.42 million viewers (#4) and a 1.2/ 4 (#4) in the demo at 8 p.m. Chances of another season of Sarah Connor are, no doubt, nil.
NBC suffered another losing Friday with its line-up of two episodes (original and repeat) of Howie Do It, Friday Night Lights and Dateline. Take a look:
NBC/Friday 8:00 p.m. - Howie Do It Viewers: 4.56 million (#2), A18-49: 1.3/ 5 (#3)
8:30 p.m. - Howie Do It (R) Viewers: 4.04 million (#3), A18-49: 1.3/ 4 (#3)
9:00 p.m. – Friday Night Lights Viewers: 4.22 million (#3), A18-49: 1.5/ 5 (#4)
NBC had better hope upcoming Jay Leno ignites some interest in the 10 p.m. (local news lead-in) time period. The CW, meanwhile, aired yet another night of repeats as follows:
CW/Friday 8:00 p.m. – Everybody Hates Chris (R) Viewers: 1.55 million (#5), A18-49: 0.5/ 2 (#5)
8:30 p.m. – The Game (R) Viewers: 1.25 million (#5), A18-49: 0.5/ 1 (#5)
9:00 p.m. – Everybody Hates Chris (R) Viewers: 1.07 million (#5), A18-49: 0.4/ 1 (#5)
9:30 p.m. – The Game (R) Viewers: 1.33 million (#5), A18-49: 0.5/ 2 (#5)
As bad as this night is for the CW without old young male favorite Friday Night Smackdown! (very bad move getting rid of it), additional encore telecasts of Everybody Hates Chris and The Game from 9-10 p.m. is still an improvement over former occupant 13: Fear is Real. Pathetic, isn’t it?

Great numbers for Ghost Whisperer. I'm still amazed amongst all these losers, Ghost Whisperer is a winner. Flashpoint isnt doing well with Ghost Whisperer as a lead in. Because it's so cheap though, I wonder if CBS will bring it back if CTV does. If not, maybe that new Canadian drama will fill in at 9pm. Numb3rs did pretty well. Yes, Marc, I read about that cross promotion in TV Guide. I thought it was pretty funny.

Dollhouse keeps falling. I'd say FOX gives it another 2-3 weeks before they cut it.

I know Dollhouse isn't doing great but I think it will at least get its full season because I read theyve already put together the season 1 DVD I think FOX will stick with it for Joss I mean Buffy ran 13 episode season one as well and look how big it turned out.
Although NUMBERS has lost some steam on its own accord, isn't it obvious it is the show that should have been put in the 9pm hour, with FLASHPOINT at 10pm? Wasn't this the scheduling for the summer when this group aired together?
While neither of the two are really compatible with GW, NUMBERS is the better shot of the two, would do a much better demo in the 9pm hour, and probably marginally improve POINT'S demo. As it is now, too many GW viewers are ditching at 9pm and the nite is starting over.
In any event, this combo will surely not be together next fall. I have been pushing CC for the 9pm hour, which would hold more GW and help the 10pm hour as well.

I don't know what's been going on with Flashpoint and Numbers lately. Earlier in the season, all 3 shows fit like a glove out of each other. But lately, it seems like Ghost Whisperer is the only one that's doing good - the others keep dropping. Maybe the night isn't as strong for CBS as we may have previously thought.

Yeah, it would have been the most-watched show on WB for a while there, if it hadn't been for 7th Heaven.
I don't honestly know if FOX will air all the eps, but I do think they'll finish producing them. DVD won't sell any worse if there are unaired eps on it, that's for sure.
13 eps and it's gone. It's not Buffy. That show had obvious potential, and was doing well in its first season. This has no potential, and was a flop right out of the gate.
As far as fitting like a glove, you know it is possible for shows on the same network on the same nite to have about the same level of appeal for some number of weeks, even if that appeal is to substantially different viewer sets. Then something changes, such as a dip in interest in one show, changes in the hour, etc, and what appeared to be compatibility no longer exists. Maybe it was never there that much to begin with.

Dollhouse obviously is not the breakout hit some people hoped it would be. However, given the fact the lead-in sucks and Dollhouse still manages to build from it, makes me believe that all of the 13 episodes will be aired without the axe being required to swing.
I still don't get why there is so much negativity expressed towards Dollhouse. It is not a bad show in terms of quality, in my opinion anyway. Good Ratings and good quality don't always go hand in hand ... most of the times actually/unfortunately!
