I think the ratings are going to be very high.

You cannot move an inch outside in Beverly Hills, Hollywood, and West Hollywood without seeing a poster for Heroes' return on Monday.

I'm thinking season-high ratings. Hopefully the episode will live up to it.

The reason ABC renewed The Bachelor is because they have an average of 9mil people watching it. This is not a bad number. It's no Greys Anatomy, but obviously people are watching it. I love it. It's pure entertainment! But I can see how it's not your cup of tea.

just like every serialized show on television we don't/won't get all the answers right away. the viewers of Jericho didn't find out who dropped the bombs and with Lost it's taken 3 years to find out anything. If it wasn't a fear the show will be canceled before all the answers are given I'd be content to wait.

There have been enough clues to know why some of the racers are in the race including the kidnapping of Alex Tully's wife and the threat that he won't get her back if he doesn't win. Winston was released from prison so he could race so probably if he doesn't win he will have to go back, and if he's to be believed he's not guilty. Corrina is racing to find out who's behind the race and thereby responsible for her parents death. From the previews for next week we know that gungho army guy is AWOL so something is making him and his wife race. Minivan mom is pretty freaked about something so there is something more to her being in it.

Every character has something that is forcing them to race and try to win. It's through the race we find out who these people really are, the race is our door into these characters lives. And for me that is the story I'm enjoying.

Actually, I remember the names of the characters better than I remember the names of most of the actors (at the very least I know their first names).

But you're not really TALKING about them. And if people aren't talking about the characters, that's a bad thing.

And it's not a really good thing if they have a hard time remembering the names of the actors, either.

I don't say anything on this board because while I use their names in talking with other people who've enjoyed the show (one of whom is contemplating dedicating a shrine to Wendy Patrakas), I find that my time here is preoccupied talking about ratings, reporting info, and having hilarious debates with you

I have this suspicion that my perspective on the hilarity is somewhat different from yours, but let's rejoice that we agree that there is hilarity galore. Big Grin

Not much time to "fanboy out" amid the twenty-plus posts you've already made today bashing the show

But apparently time to do a rough count of them?

and nay-saying anyone who makes a point to the contrary, I'm afraid...

Oh please, there's no reason for anyone to be afraid of me. I don't bite. Which is more than Drive can say. Wink

Although I have to say I find it off that you so quickly put down a discussion about what the show is lacking and how it could be better. Seemed constructive to me.

Right, because the producers are so totally taking notes from our discussion.

But in the case of Drive, the reason we don't get all the answers will be due to the very low ratings, leading to an early cancellation. Whereas with the ones that stay on the air, it's because of the high ratings, that keep the show on the air forever, and delay the answers interminably. Serial-lovers just can't win, can they?

He's still upset that Everwood got canceled so as far as I can tell he hasn't actually watched anything since.

but explaining aspects of the race that add dramatic tension would seem to be a way to attract people to the show. keep the characters shrouded in mystery, the backers, the conspiracy/whatever. but let us know the immediate danger!

Actually, last week's Jericho was amazing in this regard. A character actually sat down and explained exactly what was happening to another character. No double meanings. No reason to think he was lying. If that ever happened on Lost, everyone's heads would explode.

And the ratings would implode (I mean, worse than they are now). You don't give all the answers at once, unless you think the show is not long for this world. Which is pretty much exactly what they're thinking over at Jericho right now.

It's a really tough form to master, and I'm sorry to hear you think Jericho is a particularly masterful expression of it. I'm pretty hard on Lost, because it has the potential for greatness, which is frequently wasted.

I have no such bone to pick with Jericho, because its potential is pretty much nil.

Which is one of the reasons I love Jericho (and it had nothing to do with Skeet and Lennie in the same scenes) and why I gave up on Lost. There is a point where you no longer care (yes Pisher we know), Lost went far past that point and I think Jericho gauged it pretty accurately. After just 3 eps in I'll give Drive time.

Nope. And really, why should anyone assume it was? My apologies. Wink

Your rather stilted prose, actually. If you give me an opening, don't expect me not to take it. Type less, think more.

Travis, how intimidated would you have to be to bring THAT up?

Geez, people. You keep telling ME it's just about TV shows. You're the ones who need to remember that.

Okay, where are all the Losties who rank on me everytime I suggest the show shouldn't run past season five?

But you still don't UNDERSTAND.

Lost went far past that point

And yet more people watch it than Jericho and Drive combined.

So was that the point you were trying to make?

It doesn't matter if you give people the answers if they DON'T CARE. And people stopped caring less than halfway through Jericho's first (and probably only) season.
