I am really surprised Drive is such a failure. The show is pretty entertaining. It was hyped up by Fox, got pretty decent reviews, was promoted for months by Fox, and the viewers are just not therere..
Will it see all of its scheduled Airings this spring??? quote: Originally posted by BSGjunkie: Well Drive didn't lose many viewers from Sunday, at least the people watching it liked it.
I doubt Drive will be around for May sweeps. It dropped 7% of total viewers and 12% of A18-49 from the previous night's premiere. It's only going to get worse. Fox did much better with a House repeat last week. I'm betting that Fox will soon pull Drive and replace it with House reruns. Drive could return for a summer burn-off, but with Fox, you never know.
I'm curious, how did House do on it's first couple of episodes?
I am truly surprised at how horrible Drive has done. I havent seen it, but I have heard good things about it. This show has definitely been all the buzz on all the sci-fi nerd sites. I guess people dont want to invest their time in another mythology-laden serial. Now to answer your question marc regarding why abc has already renewed the Bachelor, just look at the numbers, they may not be great, but with nothing else to put on the air it makes a nice filler till next fall, not only that but the bachelor tends to build its audience as the crappy thing progresses and it does fairly well in the all-important demo. Personally I would love to never have to see the thing again, but what do I know.

Its ratings were pretty bad. However, Fox let it play out, and has given it the post-Idol spot for 3 straight years (huge mistake). If it wasn'd for American Idol, House most likely would have been cancelled..
pisher - 6 episodes of Drive were set to air the spring (meaning only 3 more), with the other 7 of 13 (still in production... the reshot pilot only started shooting on January 15th) unschedule.
Okay, thanks for the info--haven't been paying very close attention. I mean, it was a Tim Minear series starring Nathan Fillion. What else would one need to know?

With these ratings, I'd expect summer burnoff.
I'd expect they're thinking about rescheduling, but they're also thinking about cutting the ep order, and maybe just tossing it altogether. I mean, when's the rest of Day Break airing on ABC?

Fox had, obviously, hoped it was going to be a bigger out of the gate success (sigh, i couldn't resist some form of racing metaphor...) and was going to save the other 7 for the 2007-08 season (prbobly to start airing in August when Prison Break came back).
But now a pit stop is clearly in order. A much more appropriate racing metaphor, methinks.
A DVD release? It's happened before, but please note--it didn't happen for The Inside.
I believe House was not doing well until it aired after Idol. People checked it out and decided they liked it. Feel free to correct me if I am wrong.
yes, despite being promoted heavily by Fox during the 2004 Baseball playoffs, House premiered terribly and did not gain ground until Fox (apparently wisely) showed faith in it and put it on after Idol. After which point it exploded, and repeats of episodes aired in the pre-Idol run doubled up on the ratings of their original airings.

Like Lost and Heroes, if you dont watch from the beginning chances are that you will never watch it. It is one of those shows that I assume must be seen from the start to get a sense of what this show is and where it is going or you will be .....Lost.

What is going on w/ CBS' procedurals? I thought it might just be a one-week blip, but Criminal Minds and CSI:NY were way down last week as well...

The Inside only saw the light of day as a favor to Imagine Television in exchange for selling Fox their outer space reality show... but hell if I know what's happened to that project (i recall there being something like 12 months of pre-production work to be done... but this was summer 2005)

You say 'ouch'. I say: 'Did you happen to notice what two shows had to go up against the final one hour finale of I Love NewYork last night'?

Last, and very least in the 9 p.m. hour were repeats of CW sitcoms Girlfriends (Viewers: 1.95 million; A18-49: 0.9/ 2) and The Game (Viewers: 2.07 million; A18-49: 0.8/ 2), which are both on the fence for next season. Although I always say never judge a show by a repeat, The CW may want to rethink airing a two-hour Monday comedy block next season.
These two shows went up against the I Love NewYork reunion show. I hope you or Travis can post some viewer numbers from that VH1 juggernaut pertaining to last night.
What would you think about putting two of the sitcoms on Wednesday after ANTM? I think they would be a better fit than any of the teen soaps.

As I remember it, House was doing around a 7 share its first half-season on the air, which sounds bad until you consider that its lead-in was the Richard Branson Apprentice knock-off, which was doing abyssmally low numbers. Given that it was a new show with a poor lead-in, I thought that it was doing pretty well and that it would surely become a hit once it was placed behind Idol the following spring.
