-Ratings Breakdown:
Despite airing all repeats, CBS led Monday, with a first-place finish in total viewers and adults 18-49 (tied with Fox in the demo). Here is the breakdown for both networks:
CBS/Monday
8:00 p.m. The Big Bang Theory (R)
Viewers: 6.00 million (#2), A18-49: 1.9 rating/6 share (#3t)
8:30 p.m. How I Met Your Mother (R)
Viewers: 5.42 million (#3), A18-49: 1.9/ 5 (#3)
9:00 p.m. Two and a Half Men (R)
Viewers: 9.86 million (#1), A18-49: 3.0/ 7 (#1)
9:30 p.m. The New Adventures of Old Christine (R)
Viewers: 7.35 million (#1), A18-49: 2.3/ 6 (#2)
10:00 p.m. CSI: Miami (R)
Viewers: 7.62 million (#1), A18-49: 2.1/ 5 (#1t)
Fox/Monday
8:00 p.m. Terminator: The Sarah Connor: Chronicles
Viewers: 5.49 million (#3), A18-49: 2.0/ 5 (#1t)
9:00 p.m. Prison Break
Viewers: 5.89 million (#3), A18-49: 2.5/ 6 (#1)
Although Prison Break perked up in the demo, comparably the two dramas on average are down by double-digits from year-ago occupants Prison Break and K-Ville. It’s not good.
NBC’s Deal or No Deal opened the evening on a winning note, with 8.76 million viewers and a 2.0/ 6 among adults 18-49 (tied with Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles). But lead-out America’s Toughest Jobs, which heads to Friday, sunk to a series-low 4.95 million viewers (#4) and a 1.6/ 4 in the demo (#5). You’re not surprised, are you? That led into a Monday edition of Dateline at a last-place 4.38 million viewers and a 1.4/ 4 among adults 18-49 at 10 p.m.
ABC populated the evening with theatrical Batman Begins, which averaged a mere 5.68 million viewers (#4) and a 1.9/ 5 among adults 18-49 (#3) from 8-11 p.m. Remember the days when movies were big events on the small screen? Times have changed, and not necessarily for the better.
Last in total viewers, fourth among adults 18-49, and still expected to pull a punch among target young females, was the CW’s combination of Gossip Girl (Viewers: #5: 3.73 million; A18-49: #3t, 1.9/ 5) and One Tree Hill (Viewers: #5, 3.35 million; A18-49: #4: 1.8/ 4), which fit like a glove together. For the first time in years, I am happy to report that the results for One Tree Hill are healthy!
Next week at this time I will be reporting on the first night of the 2008-09 season!
