House didn't start until after 11 in NY. There was the traditional post-game, then the local affiliated did theres and it was very dull, I must say. So I'm thinking/hoping that the finals go up significantly, but anyways, what a great game last night. Thank god the Giants won, that was really cool. And the CW, ouch.

It was very boring untill the last quarter. I've seen better Super Bowls.

If you think any of that game was boring than you clearly are not a football fan who can appreciate a well played game.
The Superbowl did well, but the real story is The CW. When I saw those numbers I couldnt stop laughing. However they were pretty stupid to air new episodes. That shows you they could care less about Life is Wild.
Give it up to Cold Case for coming in 4th for the night!

I'm not sure why everyone is saying 'ouch' about the CW numbers. Maybe they should consider the Sunday ratings vs. the average Sunday rating for each network this season. CW held up 'well'.

I actually agree with this. The game was excellent regardless of whether or not you liked the outcome or teams.

Agreed. I'm not even a House fan but I figured I'd check out this episode. For a few minutes there, I thought maybe Fox 5 (WNYW) wasn't going to air it at all, because I saw the local news affiliates doing the post-game. Then I noticed the crawl at the bottom of the screen. I didn't realize that other Fox affiliates already went ahead and started airing the House episode at 10:38. This sort of thing shouldn't be allowed -- I don't care if this is the Giants' home market, Fox shouldn't permit WNYW to push back a national broadcast of a new episode of one of their top shows like that. (But then, I'm not a sports fan.)
This makes me long for the old days when lots of cable systems carried two affiliates of each broadcast network, in case one of the affiliates got uppity with the network and pre-empted something, or pulled some kind of crap like this. Although maybe that was more common for cable systems in rural areas. I think folks in between New Brunswick and Trenton still get both Fox affiliates from NYC and Philly so I wonder if they thought to check the Philly channel for House at 10:38.

So is it too early to start wondering what NBC should put in the post Super Bowl slot next year? Naturally, it should be the only show that can live up to the hype ...... nany na nanay na na na .... The Celebrity Apprentice.

I agree. 7-3 at the end of the first half? I don't consider a bunch of stalled drives, short runs and incomplete passes good football. Yeah, part of it was good defense, but part of it was just inept offense. It only picked up at the end of the 3rd Quarter, when both teams started remembering how to move the ball.
Oh well. I wish the Patriots had won, if only so the '72 Dolphins would fade into irrelevance. I'd seen about enough of them this season to last me a lifetime.
I'm glad to see that even with a network posting historic lows, someone still managed to put a positive spin on it. That's what makes this board so special.

I thought it was a great game, but I like defensive football so that is that.
And yes, the 72 Dolphins can shut their traps anytime. The Steelers of the 70's, Niners of the 80's, Cowboys of the 90's, and Patriots of the 00's would all have kicked your dorsal fins from here to Aruba and back. A special "shutty" to Mercury "coca" Morris, please.

NBC doesn't really have an existing show that does well enough (like Grey's, House, and Criminal Minds, as well as early Survivor and their Friends a few years ago) to benefit from this spot. They should probably go to the practice that was commonplace until 5-6 years ago, which was to launch a new show that has the makings of a hit. One of the most successful done this way was The Wonder Years back in the day...
Since I'm always comparing Chuck to the much better Alias, the NBC show might be on the same track as the former ABC spy show and air post-Super Bowl XLIII in 2009. But NBC, please don't air it at 11pm on the East Coast (as ABC mistakenly did in 2003, and thus didn't count in the weekly ratings nor Alias' 2002-03 season average).
Gran Friend, dl16, please come into the chat room now for Survivor game help!

As long as they don't "out" Chuck as a spy on national news and shut down the Buy More in that episode, that's not a bad idea.
