I'm sure that when the DVR numbers are included, "House" will rule the house.

I know I have yet to see it.

Well, for the people who DVRed it, I hope they extended the time for the recording. On screen guides had the episode going from 10:15-11:15.

If you didn't add in extra time on a night that the Superbowl was the laed in, then you obviously haven't watched anything on CBS Sunday nights these past 4 years.

You may be quite sure I did! I knew perfectly well, when I saw in the guide, that the postgame show would start at 9:30 that this was nonsense. I added two hours to "House," just in case the game went into overtime.

What's the difference? I woldn't be at all surprised if the CW doesn't turn out to be one of the casualties of the writers' strike. I can easily imagine Moonves pulling the plug on the whole thing.

Nah, its got at least another year in it imo. If it doesn't show improvement next year and that shouldn't be hard due to the writer's strike, then its curtains.

Gran Friend and dl16 no need to worry about registering with the Survivor game. Check in on the TV Talk chat room at times to see if I or tvfan300 are there (we're both usually there). We can both guide you on how to register fully with the Survivor game! (And even if we're not there, College Basketball Fan, himymfan22 and probably TV-aholic can help you out in the TV Talk room as well).

TV-aholic, come into the chat room so I could help you with the Daily Game for next week.

Super ratings for Sunday's big game
Paul J. Gough
Feb 4, 2008

New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning led his team to a 17-14 upset win over the heavily favored New England Patriots.

UPDATED 10:50 a.m. PT Monday, Feb. 4

NEW YORK -- The New York Giants' upset of the undefeated New England Patriots was the most watched Super Bowl telecast ever.

More than 97.5 million viewers watched the game on Fox, Nielsen Media Research said Monday. That's up 5% compared to last year's Indianapolis Colts-Chicago Bears game, which averaged 93.2 million viewers. It's also higher than Super Bowl XXX on Jan. 28, 1996, when the Dallas Cowboys-Pittsburgh Steelers matchup averaged 94.1 million viewers.

It's also probably the second-most watched telecast of all time, behind the 105.9 million viewers who tuned in on Feb. 28, 1983, for the last episode of "M*A*S*H."

Last night's game peaked between 9:30 p.m. and 10 p.m. with 105.7 million viewers.

Sunday's Super Bowl XLII also delivered the highest household rating -- 43.2/65 -- since Super Bowl XXXIV (St. Louis-Tennessee) delivered a 43.3 rating on ABC on Jan. 30, 2000.

That's still an impressive number. It may rise again when the finals for the week are released tomorrow. This should make FOX average 30 million viewers for the week, which has got to be a record for them.

I wish they would of aired something other than House after the Super Bowl. I don't understand why they burned a show that is drawing over 20 millions viewers after American Idol. It will gain a handful of viewers. They should of tried Back To You or SCC again. Those shows could use the huge lead out from the Super Bowl. Maybe Back to You since they have a couple episodes left and it could of helped the repeats. That's only mistake FOX made this Super Sunday.

Those should be the official fast nats. As explained in Marc's report, he was missing the first 40 minutes, which were probably among the most-watched. (Zap2it has 7-8 as the most-watched hour of primetime,
Why are most people watching the first hour of the Superbowl rather than the last hour? Clearly, these are people watching for the commercials, not for the game.

Side note: the 2 most watched Superbowls are the two that were played in Arizona.

Well, people who generally record CBS programs on Sunday nights have extra time built into their season pass. Which is not true for people who record House.

No, those are the "final" fast national numbers, by the end of the day we should have the final nationals. But last year the difference was small

They gave SCC all the help in the world and still fell badly, a new post match spot wouldnt've helped a lot. Back to you is doing poorly, doubt a post-SB spot would've made it a hit. PB is also falling, 24 is not on the air. FOX didn't have a lot of choices actually

That actually might not be necessary to do though. Criminal Minds didn't change much in the finals and the time period it aired in was almost identically the same as House (Criminal Minds started at 10:27):

Fast Nationals vs. Final Nationals
Households - 15.0 to 15.1
Viewers - 26.23M to 26.31M
Adults 18-49 - 9.9 to 10.0

I didn't realize House started that late (haven't watched the episode, that's for tonight Smiler).

It is pretty interesting that while both games' post game shows started at around the same time (10:04 last year, 10:05 this year) Fox's analysis extended longer than CBS's (10:27 last year, 10:38 this year).

However, Fox attracted several more viewers during their post game than CBS did last year (57.34M vs. 68.32M).

FOX probably planned a longer post game to set aside time for the Patriots coronation --- oops Big Grin

Is PB falling. I thought with DVR # they had been pretty consistent last season and this season.

PB has been very consistent this year but they've lost around 1 million from last season
