Actually, I think the best solution is that they should be repeated on cable.

ABC has plenty of reality and other filler to use in those slots imo during a "normal" regular season. If serialized shows are repeated then it should be the special same week encores that many of the networks have done in the past.

Good thought there. ABC Family certainly has plenty of openings on the weekends and in late night during the week.
NEW YORK -- The New York Giants' thrilling victory over the New England Patriots was the most-watched Super Bowl ever, with 97.5 million viewers, Nielsen Media Research said Monday.
The game eclipsed the previous record of 94.08 million, set when Dallas faced Pittsburgh in 1996. More people watched Sunday's game than all but one American television broadcast ever, the "M*A*S*H" finale in 1983, which was seen by 106 million viewers.

Updated Nielsen number for the Super Bowl is 97.5, a new record. Still, it failed to break that magic 100 million mark and still trails the MASH finale which is still the most watched tv show ever.
I'd agree with you from the point of view that the it would have helped house - but if you look at this as probably the most incredible moment in the history of America's most popular sport - I think the network is obliged to show the awarding of the Lombardi and MVP trophies, as well as some recap of a truly historical (for football fans) event. And I don't think that 33 minutes is an egregious amount of time to give us.

That actually might not be necessary to do though. Criminal Minds didn't change much in the finals and the time period it aired in was almost identically the same as House (Criminal Minds started at 10:27):
Fast Nationals vs. Final Nationals Households - 15.0 to 15.1 Viewers - 26.23M to 26.31M Adults 18-49 - 9.9 to 10.0

Very well stated. No network in their right mind, even the chimps at ABC, are going to air repeats of Housewives at 9, especially when they have new Brothers and Sisters episodes yet for 10pm. I do think though that the Friday airings are ridiculous and should be pulled in favor of perhaps Primetime or WMC repeats.
I agree -- the Friday reruns of Grey's and DH are landing ABC in 5th place (even 6th if you count Univision) and only do harm to ABC's average. I agree that WMC reruns would do at least as good.

House will average below 30 millions for sure.
Historically, the ratings for a FOX carried SB are lower than when carried by the other networks, therefore these ratings, while probably will rise, would fall within the pattern.
My records indicate that the March 31, 1957 CBS broadcast of "Cinderella" holds the record for the most viewers ever (107 million, which was a gargantuan number for the fifties).
But M*A*S*H with 105.97 million is indeed the viewership record-holder for the modern era.

What's the difference? I woldn't be at all surprised if the CW doesn't turn out to be one of the casualties of the writers' strike. I can easily imagine Moonves pulling the plug on the whole thing.

Those should be the official fast nats. As explained in Marc's report, he was missing the first 40 minutes, which were probably among the most-watched. (Zap2it has 7-8 as the most-watched hour of primetime, so 6:20-7 might be even higher.) Dunno about market discrepancies, but I imagine the missing 40 minutes was a big chunk of the difference.
