CBS still doubled NBC's viewer numbers. I actually think that ABC had the best idea for the night (with the late start movie), but the game stayed close so the movie never drew in the viewers. Still, NBC's plan to program with repeats of The Biggest Loser had no shot to be anything other than a failure. Even if the game wasn't close, channel surfing viewers were not going to dive in to that show.
They have nothing else to offer that would have done much different.

The only decent number I saw from Sunday, that was not on FOX, was Cold Case at 10pm (6.07 million and a 1.3) Everything else was programming to kill the time.

I think it's kind of funny that with a handful of news shows (two of them on Saturday) and a whole lot of reruns playing against originals CBS can get a 1.7. While the week before, ABC had 13 hours of original programming (only one news show, nothing on Saturday) and only managed a 2.0.

My apologies, it was two weeks before, since Marc was gone, I don't have the numbers from the week of the 21st. The principle still stands though.

well, i guess the cbs brass should be scolded for:
1. not saving some original episodes
2. not coming up with original strike programming

Have you considered a future in politics?

Any my guess is Cold Case did that well only because of a) more female and older skewing and b) the game was over for the end half of it so people flipped the channel.

However, I also think you could forget about SVU, one of my faves, but a polarizing show.

I'll give you that but the original flavor Law and Order has supposedly really regained some momentum creatively this fall. I think if it is that good then why not showcase it and try to bring viewers back to the slightly revamped version.

The renewed success of the original Law&Order makes me wonder what would have happened if ABC had kept The Practice on the air for one more year -- it was a stable on Sundays, and it went off the air the season before Extreme Makeover: Home Edition and Desperate Housewives took off. With L&O succeeding, and none of The Practice's cast having succeeded elsewhere (McDermott's Big Shots has failed, Lara Flynn Boyle I think is no longer part of Las Vegas, and others have tried and failed in other new shows), it would be technically feasible to bring it back. They could even bring in Julie Bowen and Mark Valley, whom I really enjoyed in Boston Legal, The Practice's spin-off. Most of the actors should be available, add a couple of fresh faces, and bam, you got the makings of a returning hit.

I know it's not that easy, but wouldn't it be better than all those failed 10pm Monday or Thursday shows?

Not counting re-imaginings (e.g. BSG, Bionic Woman) or "reality" shows (e.g. the Mole), when was the last time a show was brought back after several years of being off the air?

Family Guy is the first show that comes to mind.

WKRP was broaght back in the 90's

There was a Make Room for Grand Dad with Danny Thomas, in the 80's

Leave It to Beaver had new episodes on TBS (IIRC) during the 80's

Mission Impossible was broght back during the last Writers Strike in 88

With as many TV movies as they made, you can sort of count Perry Mason

Looks Like T:SCC didn't get much out of the Super Bowl punch. At best, it looks like the Numbers are flat from the last original episode airing.

Hopefully the numbers will be better if/once the Fast Nationals are released.

There was a Ponderosa series on PAX that was a prequel to Bonanza.

Also, Dragnet made a comeback in the 60s/70s that was a continuation of its 50s originals.
