Thanks for the heads up, Marc. Hopefully this is a sign that it is taking Nielsen longer to count the increased number of viewers due to having fresh programming on for sweeps. The Nielsen guys might even have to take their socks off.

I recorded the Fox Reality version, but haven't watched yet. The way it worked for the first season is that they got to split a jackpot of money if they made it to the end. ($250,000) Well, kind of - Charla never did choose to split it with Dave and got it all herself. But yeah, the premise seems to be that the prize is staying "in paradise" the longest. Forever Eden, which was almost the same show, had used some Gold Coins and let people earn them the longer they stayed and once they were sent home, they gave half their stash to someone. Much better concept in my opinion, but we'll see if money takes more of an active role as things move on. I liked funny Mike too and want to see the Party Girl Tara get the heave ho. The first time, they introduced the staff later. Actually, one of the waiters was brought aboard to play the game. Although he turned out to be gay, so it was quite challenging for him to hook up with the women. And some of the guys were quite scared of him. quote: Originally posted by dumont: quote: Originally posted by mushu_jj: On another note, did anyone else watch last night's Paradise Hotel? I recorded it and thought it has real potential to live up to true Fox reality trash. The characters are certainly good looking enough and there's someone from Iowa so I can automatically find someone to root for. Anyone else?
I watched it. I felt like such a voyeur, though, with all the hidden cameras everywhere. And what exactly are they competing for? The right to share a bed with a roommate of choice? Or is there a prize? (money, free trip) I didn't watch the first series, so I'm not clear on what is to be won. My favourite characters so far would be funny Mike and "I'm a 22-year-old virgin" Krista. A few other comments...for such a mammoth hotel, there doesn't seem to be any other guests about or even hotel staff. Did anyone watch the steamier late-night FOX REALITY version for comparison purposes? The teaser ads suggested that it would be really quite, ahem, revealing.

The funny thing is that I mentioned the possibility of airing Friday Night Lights after the Superbowl as a joke. The proper responses were along the lines of: 'FNL will be gone by then' or 'even NBC is not that dumb', but instead mushu is thinking that FNL just might work. In thinking about it, I'm not sure that NBC has any show available that would be a worse lead-out for the Superbowl.
I wonder if the trend of going back to a Brand New Series premeire is in order. The last two years have had hot Veteran shows that get good numbers but not the GREAT numbers from the past. Its now too easy to see an episode of HOUSE or Criminal Minds, The Simpsons, ect... because they air so many times each week, on and off network. Perhaps NBC should wait untill late October/Early November before deciding what will air after the Super Bowl
FNL - love it, but if anything, it was rejected by football fans who cringe at sports being entertainment-ized on TV. Then, on the other hand, women likely didn't get past the "apparent" football premise. Series premiere post SB - what can NBC's confidence level be on that score??

WGA to Weigh New Deal on Saturday; Writers Could Return to Work Soon After The latest buzz from the inner circles at the informal strike talks indicates that "there is strong support for the deal" that came together over the weekend, a source tells TVGuide.com. The latest terms are due to be presented to the WGA membership on Saturday, Feb. 9, and if the guild likes what they hear, the strike order could be lifted soon there after — even before it is formally ratified (a process that could take several weeks). George Clooney, who was recently (and erroneously) rumored to want to personally intervene on the talks, said at a Monday taping of AMC's Shootout Oscar Special, "We're very close to having a deal. We have a tentative agreement with the writer's guild, but it needs to be ratified by the board. I think it will be."

I heard that some of the board was actually against it-or at least doesn't want to lift the strike until the membership votes on it because there's a chance it might be voted down (the problem is, the producers insisted on this, especially Bob Iger, so the Oscars can go on- there's not enough time to get the vote done beforehand). It still could go all to blazes- and if the Oscars go by the wayside, they'll probably be out until June...

You really expect it to GROW out of 2.5 Men??? I can't even do that when airing after HIMYM. Plus, DOND was back on at 9:30 with the "Million Dollars in every case" edition

Isn't that a typical number for a 2.5 Men repeat?

It's not a rumor, just my opinion (and I've read comments on other sites- they range from optimistic (it'll be over soon) to fatalistic (it's going to be a bad deal) to nihilistic( scorched earth- we'll wait till SAG strikes)

While we wait for the Monday numbers, I thought I'd share with you all a new network record achieved by MyNetworkTV last week.
In the MyNetworkTV vs The CW competition for fifth place amongst the English language broadcasters, for the first time last week, MyNetworkTV had a higher viewership on three nights -- Monday, Wednesday and Saturday (vs. The CW Sunday). The CW had strong viewership wins on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.
