Compared to post-SB programming in the past 10 years, only GA and Survivor did better, IIRC. As Friends and GA adequalty proved, progamming post SB is tricky. House is a 4th year series and has little buzz. It does a great job on a weekly basis, but it's past it's watercooler stage.
Fox (twice) aired The Simpsons post SB, which was a huge programming blunder. Why? Well, people already know what The Simpsons is about - it doesn't need a boost, nor would the boost likely help it. You need a series that is young, hot, and is on the verge of breaking out, like GA two years ago. The two biggest post SB mistakes that I've seen were Criminal Minds (a series with 0 buzz) and Alias (a series that viewers had already repeatedly rejected).

Post SB's - Shortage of new hits these days.
Next year for NBC:
CHUCK - no growth potential shown yet. HEROES - needs to be more stable. THE OFFICE - seriously doubt it. DOND - that's like waving the white flag. EARL - maybe a few years ago.
Given their thinking, maybe a promising young reality show.
Judging by recent actions of doof Silverman, it won't be back but Friday Night Lights held til midseason and then used after the Superbowl would be interesting. Its a great show and really has been mistreated by NBC. It doesn't belong on Fridays, didn't belong leading off a night, especially against Idol, and the one slot it maybe had a shot to do decently (post-Heroes) was deferred to Heroes. I also think it could've been a good pair for the Biggest Loser on Tuesdays.

If I recall, thefutoncritic gave it a horrid review. I won't be giving it a shot. Not to mention, single camera doesn't work at NBC. I bet extra 2.5 Men repeats are on the way.
House can get 25 million after American Idol, which is what, 35ish million viewers at the end?
And after 105.7 million viewers, House only gets 29. Horrible. Just horrible.
NBC should do a sitcom after the Super Bowl next year. Remember Friends back in 1996 getting 55 million viewers after the Super Bowl? It had a football themed episode, and that was its highest rated episode ever, beating the finale.
NBC has no sitcoms anywhere near as popular as Friends was (even with declining ratings in general factored in). The Office is not popular with the masses and would result in maybe 20 million viewers if they were lucky.

How did this show get picked up based on THAT pilot? It was almost like they went out of their way to assemble a cast in which literally every single actor has zero chemistry with the others. Production values were bargain basement, to boot. Looked like something you'd find on ABC Family.
They passed over something like 11 comedy pilots in favor of it. You just know most of them were better. They had to be.

Riff, I always enjoy your blunt and often spot on analysis. Thank-you for keeping me away from what is bound to be a flop.
Wouldn't you agree though that ABC did a much finer job promoting the Grey's Anatomy Super Bowl episode than Fox did with House? ABC made it an event (that extended past the Super Bowl) and the episode had a very effective hook, to keep audiences watching.
Completely agree. Which is why I wish the House writers / producers had been able to follow through with their plans, which would've been the start of a two-part episode, and certainly would've been event-ized (they have done two-parters before). Again, outside of the "patient on the other side of the world" and having an Academy Award winning actress in the episode... "Frozen" was a standard, formulaic episode of House, and as such, it would be hard for Fox to create the kind of excitement and event fever that ABC created for Grey's with the "Code Black" promos. Though I am (mildly) happy that there was no pandering opening shower scene between Drs. Cuddy, Cameron, and Thirteen
Was this episode always intended to tbe THE post Super Bowl Episodes?
Or... was it just one of the better produced before the strike?
Just saw the Old Christine season premiere and IT WAS A RIOT!! I hope it has around 12-13 Million!! Also, the finals are in for the SB: YOU MIGHT LIKE THIS!!- http://www.dailynews.com/sports/ci_8164645

Keep telling yourself that long enough and.... It will still not be true.
Seriously though, The SUper Bowl is unlike any other TV event. "Hype" is not needed. It is an All Viewer event as it is. It may jump and drop here and there, but its High Level is pretty consistant.
Its record number last night was more to the fact that there was a NY team in the game AND the game was close all 60 minutes.
NBC seems to be taking the Lipstick Jungle promos in a completely different direction than the CM promos, which is probably a good idea. Cashmere Mafia promos made it look upbeat, sassy, soapy. These are going for downbeat, realistic, relatable. It may not work, but I think distancing themselves from the identical show that already flopped isn't a bad idea.

TV-aholic, come into the chat room so I could help you with the Daily Game for next week.
Sorry I missed you. I was stuck in a really boring meeting until 3:45pm

The Office has a lot of buzz though. And I think everyone has heard of it but hasn't taken the time to watch it. If NBC kept promoting it to 1/3 of America [during the Super Bowl], then they would take the time to watch it.
Plus, NBC could get some new mega hit comedy next season. Sure, the chances are 1 in a million, but eventually, NBC will find something.
