Two things:
1) I'm very confused as to why "Duel" has not been shoved off the schedule yet. Even DH/GA repeats were doing a tad better than what this bomb is doing. Duel is hurting 20/20 pretty badly, and is making them lose against "Dateline". I think they should just have a marathon on Saturday and burn this dud off.
2) What do you guys think about CBS repeating their Monday comedies at 8pm or 9pm? They could rotate amongst their 4 Monday night shows -- I'm sure they would pull in pretty decent ratings, no?

Hi everybody, I've been lurking for a while now, but I've finally decided to join. I just wanted to get everybody's opinion on something. After yesterday's new episode of Moonlight, the promo that aired for next week's episode made me concerned that CBS has already made their decision about this show. Don't get me wrong, I love Moonlight and really want it to continue, but I'm not sure if it'll get a second season or not. The ratings are kind of iffy and yesterday's promo really made me wonder. Notice that it says "Only two more episodes left" and so forth...doesn't even specify "of the season." I was able to find the aforementioned promo on YouTube. Your thoughts? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=prStvaapqNA

The 9pm show gets 7.9 million, the 10pm show gets 10.2millions. Need i say more?
Who cares about the fact that this show has some fans so crazy about it that they take over the forums? That doesn't mean more money for CBS. Remember Jericho? What good it did to CBS when it returned beacause of the same phenomenon?

I agree .. I like ML compared to Jericho but agree on the comparison . The fact that ML loses weekly is not good for the show and CBS will not keep it around unless the last two eps bring in at least a 8-9 million viewers !

Well it looks rather bad for those wanting a renwal, but it just may be a strategy to get all the viewers back for the following weeks

I don't think CBS has made a decision. Does anyone know when CBS will present it's fall schedule? Last year we were pretty sure C2H will recieve a 13 episodes renwal and at the presentation we've found out it's canceled. I think the same will happen to Moonlight

According to thefutoncritic.com, CBS will hold their upfronts Wednesday, May 14th. Edit: Come to think of it, Jericho was in a similar situation last year. The fans believed and had heard that the show was good to go for another season, but it got the axe at CBS' upfronts.

The most important thing is that every single TV critic has been saying that there is no doubt CBS will renew Moonlight. I tend to trust that more than a bunch of people who hate the show on some message board. They'll keep with their venom, while we enjoy these eps and relish at a second season.
Not at all. I'm a HUGE VM fan, but weeks before it was canceled (it was never "officially canceled, but when it didn't feature in CW's upfronts presentation we knew it was endgame) we knew and were told by numerous critics the show doesn't have many chances as it couldn't prove growth after three seasons. So it wasn't a surprise, but it was still bitter, esp with my other big fav, Gilmore Girls, being canceled out of the blue two weeks prior.
Sadly, it was indeed cancelled by Ms. Ostroff, who informed Mr. Thomas on June 4, 2007, about a week before her fourth season option expired on June 15, 2007. A few days later Mr. Thomas then relayed this news to the show's inconsolable fan base who had fervently continued to believe that a fourth season might arise, a Phoenix from the flames. I said it yesterday, but it's worth repeating. Since the cancellation of Veronica Mars, no new CW series has exceeded her third season average of 1.2 A18-49, 2.64 million viewers (yes, yes, the final episodes were below that, but they were network-imposed standalones that departed from the mystery-arc concept of the show). It's almost like someone has placed a Judging Amy-type hex on the network, but instead of placing it on Tuesdays at 10 pm, they have hexxed the whole network.

Neither of those shows were cancelled on short notice. Veronica Mars had a long time to prepare a final episode but the idiots kept peddling the FBI scenario to the networks and refusing to write a conclusion to a show that was clearly headed for cancellation. Gilmore Girls was almost as bad. CW struggled for months to get the lead actresses to sign a new contract, but they refused any reasonable offer. The network finally had no choice but to let Gilmore Girls end and it was not at all an 'out of the blue' announcement.

GW may be down but it still comes out a winner in overall ratings/demos compared to ML which keeps dropping consistently so that's not a valid comparison LOL !! As for C2H how can you possibly predict anything since the show is no longer on ?

Do you have the list of the demo numbers for Moonlight for all the aired episodes so far? I'm curious to see what episodes did best with the younger audience.

Ghost Whisperer used to skew around 10-11 million, nothing more. The loss of 500,000ish viewers is nothing, as those viewers turned over to DVR's. Close to Home would be down as well, but nothing major. It would be under a million, and those people would be DVRing it.
