FOX Still Number One in A18-49 Demo, CBS Supreme in Households and Viewers After Nine Days of 2008 May Sweep

After nine days of the 2008 May Sweep, FOX continues to hold its A18-49 demo lead, with ABC second, CBS right behind in third, and NBC well behind in fourth. CBS maintains a comfortable lead in households and viewership.

With the exception of MyNetworkTV, all the networks are down year-over-year in A18-49 demo, HUT and viewership. Based on the first week of numbers, MyNetworkTV is showing impressive year-over-year gains: up 59% in A18-49, up 47% in households and up 47% in viewers.

Are they the same critics that said without a doubt last year that Veronica Mars and The Class would be renewed?

The most important thing is that every single TV critic has been saying that there is no doubt CBS will renew Moonlight. I tend to trust that more than a bunch of people who hate the show on some message board. They'll keep with their venom, while we enjoy these eps and relish at a second season.

CBS will think twice this time before canceling shows. I cannot believe how stupid they were by canceling C2H. C2H would've done well in syndication, not to mention it's surprisingly popular abroad.

Moonlight should've been sent to CW.

Excellent for Moonlight for proving stability week to week, while other shows have been dropping like stones lately.
I'm very pleased, and I believe there is no doubt CBS will renew the show.

The target audience was NEVER young adults. This show is more geared toward adults, late 20 and 30s, as the characters themselves are in that age group. It's not Buffy, who spoke the language of teenagers and young adults.

Oh boy, here we go again. The Moonlight bus is hopping aboard the PI and contradicting anything said opposing Moonlight.

Get ready for 20 pages of why Moonlight is the greatest. Roll Eyes

lol

Yes, but Marc loved that thread. Hey, it's readers to the site right?

I don't think Moonlight even appeals to a late 20's early 30's crowd. It's more like mid to late 40's and mostly women.
Moms love the show.

What? First of all critics don't renew shows, secondly everywhere i look in the media they say Moonlight it's a bubble show with 50% chances of surviving

I suggest you read Matt Roush, for starters. He seems to be more knowledgeable about television and tv business and he keeps saying CBS will renew. In fact, I'm sure you are being so venomous because deep down inside you know the show is renewed, and you have no other outlet for your frustration. For your own good, I'd suggest you lay off and calm down.
I am off to watch the ep again and enjoy every minute of it!

You are so confident, yet you spend all of your posts on this board defending Moonlight and tearing down anyone with a different opinion, recruiting others when you can't defend. Yes, that action screams confidence. Please take your own advice and chill out.

That said i've seen strangest things in TV so i wouldn't be shocked if CBS renwes Moonlight.

Joel Silver seems to think that the numbers were excellent last week and it's looking good for the show.
Now, he should know what CBS expected ratings wise, so my guess is that it will get some sort of renewal, add that to the fact the fanbase is rabid.
I think CBS would be a little gun shy about an outright cancelation, for fear of some Jericho type campaign.
What do you think?

Not at all.
I'm a HUGE VM fan, but weeks before it was canceled (it was never "officially canceled, but when it didn't feature in CW's upfronts presentation we knew it was endgame) we knew and were told by numerous critics the show doesn't have many chances as it couldn't prove growth after three seasons. So it wasn't a surprise, but it was still bitter, esp with my other big fav, Gilmore Girls, being canceled out of the blue two weeks prior.

I am inclined to think Moonlight will get a renewal for 13 episodes, and will be paired up with The Mentalist on Fridays.

I think CBS will also give The Unit and Old Christine more episodes to hold for mid-season. Shark seems to be CBS's only doomed bubble series at the moment.

CBS has to be pleased with the huge amount of Internet chatter that its elegant, young vampire series creates, more than for any other scripted CBS series from my scan of the worldwide web.

First of all Mredman I happen to enjoy ML too but the facts are speaking for themselves and while there are some ie Walter who hate the show outright and yes are annoying there are others who aren't invested per se in the show but do not hate it and there are those like myself who would like to see ML survive but the significent drop off from GW and the difference from Numb3rs is of valid concern. While ML is winning its timeslot it is struggling badly for ratings/demos and with the hype CBS has been giving ML not to mention the publicity in the media ML should be doing much better.
I also like The Unit and what's interesting is while The Unit was coming in third place opposite House and DWTS it still had respectful demos and was averaging between 10-12 million viewers give or take weekly and if CBS is screwing The Unit cast and fans you better believe ML is in far worst shape since it continually loses viewership/demos ..
ML has been given plenty of chance unlike The Unit by CBS and CBS has done its share of big promotions yet there is a big drop compared to GW and Numb3ers and though I applaud your loyalty and dedication to this show CBS only cares about profit, ratings, and getting a series to get the same ratings/demos as GW and Numb3ers and defend it all you want but ML is under performing for CBS and while I tend to think it might sneak in a 13 episode renewal or a mid-season I'll be pissed off if this show gets a any renewal and CBS cancels The Unit outright ..
I'd like to see both come back ..

As much as I'm a great fan of the show and hope for renewal, I also acknowledge it's ratings are LOW for CBS. Sad, but true, and it's up to CBS now if they want to take a chance on it growing next year. Critics who love the show and receive gazillions of emails about it are of course going to feel positive, but it's not unreasonable for many of the posters here (on a ratings forum) to feel ML's chances are slim. Based on ratings alone, things look bad.

I still don't see any compatability for CW, though. They skew too young.

Another conspiracy theorist. Roll Eyes
I don't "recruit" anyone. There are other people who love the show, and just like me, they have the right to come here and defend it from venomous people like you. Have a great day!

I hate usually what Roush writes so i won't even bother.
Do you really think i care if Moonlight gets renwed or not? Oh please, i don't even watch TV on fridays.
It's just that i hate the "fanboy" phenomenon.

If there was a similar drop in the number of people weatching various cable/satellite chanels last night,
If I had to guess, I'd say the 400,000 moved from broadcast to cable to watch NBA playoffs. Certainly, the NBA playoffs ate into the young male demo watching broadcast.
