I bet the 2 our Grays Premiere had more to do with The Mentalist sub par performance than anything else. I would not be surprised to see it bounce back to about 16 mill and a 4 demo next week.

Kudos to FF for bulding at the half hour, but it's not surprising really because of the pre Greys tune in.

For me I'm only going to watch "Jay" if there isn't anything else on or unless there is someone I really want to see (and even then I'd probably just record it if there is something else on) on the show. I think NBC screwed up big time by giving "The Tonight Show" to Conan and sending Jay off to 10 pm 5 nights a week and getting rid of all new scripted shows at 10 pm.
I think GA will drop below CSI next week, and TM and CSI will stabilize and own the nite; well, at least in viewers, not demo. I was disappointed in TM last nite, but those 2 shows are so compatible and they will ultimately help each other. Last season there were many comments on this board that CSI had to stop the bleeding after Petersen left, and I think they have, at least for now.
FOX almost needs to FLIP its Wednesday and Thursday nights. SYTYCD & Glee would be great counter programming on Thursday, while BONES and Fringe would do better on Wednesdays. a

CSI continues its decline but remains a viable total audience show. It appears Greys is still king. Flash Forward launched very well. ABC has salvaged fall based on Wed/Thur results. Fox took a big hit. Bones was at average from last year but Fringe collapsed as expected. Supernatural continues decline. I think if it weren't for the CW's collapse elsewhere this show would be gone. Maybe still will be gone if the demos aren't good enough. Jay Leno took an expected hit but should still be up in the demos from late night. I also think that number is not much far off from the NBC 10pm average last year.
With this 4 night preliminary ratings, I would say ABC will win week #1 CBS should take the lead after tonight, but ABC will bounce back after Saturday night. Key for ABC is AFV and Extreme Makeover. EM:HE was losing a lot of steam last spring. Can it bounce back?

Considering the amount of promotional dollars CBS has poured into the Mentalist it was a total bust last night. They promote this show more than any new or returning show. However, I do agree that it was the GA premiere that killed it. I think it goes back up next week when it is against PP.
It is crowded. I have opted to not watch CSI Live or via DVR since it is available via On Demand by Comcast starting today. That leaves Fringe for DVR and The Office & Community for Live Viewing. Once Community move to the 8pm hour, I will have to deal with it, Bones and Survivor.

Can't speak for middle America, but I opt for ABC live and later watch "30 Rock" on Hulu...

He might be thinking suicide
Oh please, get a grip. I know this place is subject to large amounts of hyperbole but this is just too much. CSI still have 15.5 mil viewers and nearly a 4 in the demo. Just because it's not what it once was doesn't mean it's still not better (numbers wise) than 90% of the other shows on TV.
Yea, CBS must really be suicidal that the show that used to be #1 is now only 4 or 5. Give me a break.
I won't respond you with irony cause clearly you don't get it
You can't really evaluate The Mentalist move until it airs against Private Practice next week. There are a good 5 or 6 million GA viewers that tune out PP each week and some of them are likely to go over to TM. I didn't agree with the move to Thur and 3 Rivers might have been a better fit (if its quality deserved a CSI lead-in).
Flash Forward debuted well, grew in the half hour and aired a strong promo clip (in my opinion) to hook viewers for future episodes. It would be great to see it stay stable.
So, when the CW folds, does anything get snatched up by other networks? By ABC Family? My Network? I'm thinking Gossip Girl, ANTM, and Vampire Diaries would have a shot at surviving.
