the mentalist is really suffering -- it's not a 10p show -it should be on at 8 or 9 and move CSI to 10.

great for flash forward.

Was anyone else annoyed with Grey's -- i mean if you were a fan of TR Knight's George -- it seemed most of the characters were just kinda blaise about it -- even insensitive -- laughing at a funeral? Ugh. Justin chambers really deserves an emmy nod.

The funny thing is, most people around here have spent the better part of the last year claiming that The Mentalist is a super-hit and wanted it moved to Thursday night.

Then again it might pick up next week with Grey's airing in it's normal slot.
That is a really good point. The Mentalist will definitely have an easier road ahead when it faces off against Private Practice. Hopefully, what people will learn from this week's ratings is that The Mentalist is not the ideal 9pm Thursday show. It simply cannot compete with Grey's Anatomy as well as the dying CSI does.

Great night for ABC, CBS will be dissapointed at CSI and The Mentalist but with The Mentalist, I think it will do better next week against Private Practice but to premiere lower than aging shows like CSI:NY is a concern.

The Vampire Diaries held up and I think this is the direction that The CW should be going for.

Happy to see 'Flash Forward' opened with such a solid victory in A18-49s and P2+s. Hopefully, tonights encore picks up a another 5-6 million viewers and another 2.0 or thereabouts in A18-49.

Also pleased to see 'The Vampire Diaries' retain its audience, and even tie 'Parks & Recreation' in the demo.

I am worried for 'Supernatural', but I think its numbers will improve once FOX moves 'Fringe' to a better time slot.

Based on four nights of Week 1, ABC has the lead and is the only network above the 4.0 A18-49 threshold:

Week 1: First 4 Nights
Rank Net A18-49 P2+ Viewers
----------------------------
1. ABC 4.00 13,920,000
2. CBS 3.88 14,105,000
3. FOX 3.83 9,360,000
4. NBC 2.50 6,583,000
5. CW 1.06 2,250,000
6. MNT 0.34 993,000

My beloved Supernatural dropped but not as much as I feared - I suspected 2.3-2.5 mil. and 1.0/2 demo. It got 2.62 mil. and 1.2/3 demo - viewership was lower than usual but demo stayed as usual. And despite CSI and GA premiering, it dropped only 180.000 - Fringe's premiere hit it much harder so it's probable that Fringe is hurting its numbers more than CSI or GA. I hope that next Thursday, it'll go up again, even if slightly.

But Thursday is the one day that the CW doesn't have to worry about. At least not much.

But Fringe should move away from this slot. It's being pummeled to death.

Glad to see that "FlashForward" did so well in the ratings and that "The Vampire Diaries" did well too. Disappointed that "Community" didn't do as well in its second week, but considering it was up against the season premieres of both Grey's Anatomy and CSI, I'm not surprised. I guess the good news is that it did better than SNL Thursday night and Parks and Recreation and Jay Leno which had lesser competition against them.

Fringe and Supernatural are killing each other. I have a DVR and I still have problems on Thursday nights; there's just so much on at once.

I still think that CW should move VD and SPN to Wednesday nights when there's not as much competition. ANTM would probably benefit by being the only non-scripted offering on Thursday night and TBL could burn-off and die a quiet death.

I liked the pilot for FF, although not as much as I was expecting to. I hope they can keep up the intensity and not crash and burn (from a scifi point of view) the way Lost did after an amazing pilot.

Finally got around to watching the pilots for The Forgotten and The Good Wife. The Forgotten has already been forgotten, The Good Wife is the best show CBS has had since they canceled Judging Amy...good for them. I'll definitely be tuning in each week.

And the only reasons are the destruction of the brothers relationship and that incredibly awful angel. These two things killed the show. And maybe Dean crying all the time.
There's no other reason and I hope that idiot creator will be jobless for the rest of stupid life.

LOL you always make me laugh! You're like those ex boyfriends/girlfriends who only say bad things about their ex but they don't stop talking about them. So spiteful! Big Grin
I actually enjoyed las night a lot. Weird as it was the first time (if i'm not mistaken) in the series that Sam and Dean didn't have a single scene together. Loved seeing Adrianne Palicki (so hot with Jared) even though she was Lucifer. I agree about the angel though, I wish he'd go away.
Anyway, the ratings are a little higher than I expected actually, unfortunately I fear SPN might need to go lower in order for the CW to cancel it this year. And i'm sure they'll mantain the 22 episode order because of DVD sales.
Fringe was more affected by Grey's/CSI unfortunately, but it's still higher than PB last year, so i'm not too worried yet.
Survivor did fine, I don't get what you're all talking about.
I'm happy about TVD, cool episode, loving this series.

Really? FF was good? The 16 minuts I saw bored the crap out of me, but I might give it another chance.

I love "Community" and the thing is I'm much more likely to watch it now at 9 o'clock than I will be at 8 o'clock when it'll be up against "FlashForward" and "The Vampire Diaries". As far as I am concerned considering what I watch when it is on at 9:30 there isn't any competition for it. I'm really dreading it move to 8. I wish they would just put "30 Rock" there instead and leave "Community" at 9:30.

Yeah, P&R is better than the Office. Office guys are the funniest, but Steve Carrel makes that show REALLY unwatchable. At least on Parks & Recreation we have Amy Poheler doing a great job on comedy.

I used to like Tina Fey on 30 Rock, but Amy is on a completely different [higher] standard of funny. Have you seen last weeks episode when she sang Poker Face? STERICALLY HIGHLARIOUS!

I didn't watch "Community" yet, but I loved the pilot. And if the second episode is as fast-paced and funny as the first, I'd hate for the show to lose out...

Admittedly, I'm not a huge "Lost" fan. I watched the first four episodes of the series and just never got hooked. So, I tried "FlashForward" last night. And I loved it. I'm hooked. I thought it was very well done. (I can't begin to imagine what the production budget is on that show...) Solid start.

Great demo numbers for "Grey's Anatomy." As to the laughing at the funeral, I thought they achieved the perfect tone.

Ditto that!

GA did exceptionally well last night, but I wonder if it's due in part to the resolving of last season's big cliffhanger? It will be interesting to see where it settles next week.

Mentalist is a bit lower than I expected, except remember, it was going up against the final hour of GA this week. Next week, opposite PP, it is sure to rise a bit, don't you think?

Too bad about NBC. I really like P&R, Office and Community. I wish they were doing better. I agree, Community should stay put at 9:30 if it hopes to see a second season... or a full first season.

I wonder if because Thursdays are so crowded with good shows, that people are watching CBS/ABC live and on DVR, and watching NBC's shows online the next day? Or are the comedies just not playing to middle America?

One last thing... in terms of ratings, Bones is the most underrated show I can think of. No matter where Fox slots it, it finds a pretty good sized audience.

I tried to watch "P&R", but I just couldn't. I just didn't like it at all. Steve Carrell as Michael is really painful to watch on "The Office" sometimes, but the other characters make it bearable. I love it that they are (for the most part) as weirded out by Michael as I am.

Can't speak for middle America, but I opt for ABC live and later watch "30 Rock" on Hulu...
