I think getting rid of the main cast is really going to hurt L&O:CI. As you mentioned, the fans aren't likely to be happy with the changes. If the network wanted to go in a different direction, they should have cancelled this show and created a new L&O property to better fit USA Network's needs.

How did NBC become this biggest massive gaping maw of suck. This whole Leno thing capping of lineups that generate no interest.
I may be naive but can someone answer this....
When NBC learned Jay wasn't really ready to move on...why didn't they simply reneg on Conan's contract? Sure they would have had to pay out some...but they could have kept Jay in place at 11:30 where he was king.
The penalty for reneging on Conan's contract to take over Tonight was $40million. That's a lot of light bulbs. No one has ever given Jeff Zucker credit for being smart, anyway. Clever and smart ain't the same thing in my book.
Massive gaping maw of suck. Hee. Well put. I have been known to use 'craptasm'.

$5 it goes to Melrose Place... *sigh*
Perhaps they'll make a good decision this time?

Really odds scheduling decision. Four episodes is not a lot of time to build an audience and by the time it comes back, people might not care. ABC should just leave V a mini-series.

Supernatural blew its wad in the first week and will not sell much more than they have already. They probably won't sell 1 million worth next week. Not exactly having the best legs.
Supernatural - The Complete Fourth Season 57,121 -76.7% 302,168 $2,288,267 $11,212,879 2
...so? You do realize every show loses a significant percentage in the second week, yes? That percentage is typical for most television shows (glancing at first and second weeks this season, most shows lose 60-80%). Big rush opening week, then lower, steady sales through holiday season.
Also, how exactly would they sell a million units next week? The ONLY two shows that have done that in the last 5 years or so are Heroes and True Blood.
They did just order two reality shows, so my guess is those could be in contention for the spot. Or repeats of VD or Melrose Place.

My point exactly. Supernatural reached #1 on the general best sellers' list. After you reach #1, you tumble.

... sorry, dumont?
This is extremely disappointing news...I must pour myself a stiff Scotch.
It reminds me of the undue haste by The CW on 'Runaway' a few seasons back, cutting short a series just as the word-of-mouth is starting to work. Especially, given the likelihood that they'll just replace it with encores.
Does anybody know how many unaired episodes remain? I do hope The CW finds the time to air them all, perhaps during the summer season. I shall diarize a note to remind them.
The smiles of upfront are replaced with the frowns of fall as The CW cancels 'The Beautiful Life: TBL', loosely based on the modeling years of Mr. Ashton Kutcher.
At least in the short-term, definitely a toss up between MP and VD.
The question is... which benefits more from the repeat (probably the less sampled MP)? Which does it hurt more (adding a repeat could dilute VD's Thursday... but could also dilute MP's Tuesday to below "acceptable" ratings )?
And how low does MP have to go on Tuesdays before the plug has to be pulled on that... regardless of the investment in Heather Locklear?

Both were up against Broadcast competition especially Runway which was against Grey's Anatomy but the ratings for Runway are still good for Lifetime, Sunny is doing fine for FX and it has another two seasons after this one.
Life UneXpected really should get a promotional push because it's got positive reviews behind it and I think it would attract an audience because like Vampire Diaries, it stands out from the rich teen shows.

Uhhh.....I said Supernatural will not sell $1,000,000 WORTH of DVD's next week. Not One Million copies.
No, not every show plummets 72% in its second week. Supernatural will be out of the top twenty next week.
Try laying off the hyperbole, Supernatural is a niche show with crappy ratings and rabid fans who blow shit out of proportion with anything dealing with their little show.
