Not "bad." Just the inevitable outcome of posting 14,274 messages. Smiler

CBS is in an interesting position. They have a lot of shows that are nearing their end with maybe 2 more seasons max on the way. Stuff like Numb3rs, Cold Case, Without a Trace, and possibly even CSI:NY and Ghost Whisperer are on the downhill slide to eventual cancellation. It will be interesting to me to see how the network plays this all out. A move to Friday for Cold Case next year is the first step. Its a show that probably still has some creative juice in it but simply skews to old on Sundays to work there any longer. It would however, be the perfect 9pm Friday show to fit in between GW and Numb3rs. Flashpoint, in my opinion, would probably do better after one of CBS's edgier shows like Criminal Minds, CSI, or even the Amazing Race. In fact, my push for CBS next fall on Sundays (since they don't seem to want to move the comedies on Wed.) is to put the NCIS spinoff Sunday at 8, TAR at 9 (so it resemebles CBS Tuesdays of a few years ago) and Flashpoint or a new non-crime drama on Tuesdays at 10.

Marc, I totally agree on the 9pm hour for CBS and there will be a change I'm sure, but at some point doesn't NUMBERS have to come under the microscope a bit, too?

It is opposing virtually nothing. It was one thing when L&O was in this hour a few years ago. This has been on the air for 5 years. It's not a secret. It also reaches 100 eps this year.

That said, it will probably get renewed but I wouldn't be shocked with a partial order and a likely try out of a new show in the spring, much like NUMBERS entered the TV world 4 years ago.

I'm all for more seasons of FNL, grateful in fact, but I think if aired they should get if off fridays. NOT because it would do better on another nite, but because it is actually screwing up a nite where they could actually do a little bit of business if they used their brains.

There's not point wasting a lead in on FNL as was discovered last year with DOND. FNL did better last year but not enough to justify the lead in.

I would air FNL on a nite where you are putting other "stand alones" like THE APPRENTICE or anything else that is somewhat outside of the usual lead-in dynamics.

They have enough spare dramas around who still have a little bit of juice to compete on friday nite, where CBS is strong but not doing lights out and where the other nets are not competing.

ABC finished in the distant No. 2 spot in both total viewers and adults 18-49 with its line-up of Wife Swap (Viewers: #2, 4.50 million; A18-49: #2t, 1.4/ 5), Supernanny (Viewers: #2, 5.63 million; A18-49: #2, 1.7/ 5) and 20/20 (Viewers: #2, 5.18 million; A18-49: #2, 1.6/ 5). While Supernanny deserves props for continuing to build out of Wife Swap, Wife Swap is just not capable of anchoring the evening. And both hours might be better off as fill-ins (and not regularly scheduled occupants). Note to ABC: Why not raid corporate cousin Disney Channel’s programming closet and set up a night of kids and tween driven comedies? Remember T.G.I.F.?

What happened to ABC last night?!?!? I guess many viewers didnt care to see two families on the show again, even though it was hilarious. 20/20 had low numbers last night! That has to be close to a season low as it has been getting a 2.0 demo almost every week this year.

It is not averaging 3.0 in the demo. Its most typical number is 2.7, and shrinking each year.

The show still has some juice left and it's really an issue of perhaps passing on the baton to something newer on Sunday and at the same time adding value on friday. I see it as a matter of getting the show on the right track for this stage in its career.

And if a counter is that, ok, put it at 10pm on sunday, I say friday 9pm is a better time period than sun 10pm for CBS at this time, for this show in particular.

Because the NFL fuel that comes in at 7pm just gets wasted every fall by shows like this.

Last, and very least in every half hour, was the CW’s Everybody Hates Chris (Viewers: 1.83 million; A18-49: 0.7/ 2), The Game (Viewers: 2.07 million; A18-49: 0.8/ 3)

That is a season high for The Game, and the first time it has hit 2 million viewers this season (not including DVR numbers). However, with the preemptions Obveeus posted, the numbers will probably fall since The CW had three.

I always thought Sundays at 7 simply after Dateline or some other cheap reality project was the best option for them. Family friendly hour. Family friendly drama. Apprentice fills at 9 and a new drama next year at 10.

After 9 Days of 2009 February Sweep (in March), FOX First in A18-49s, CBS Most Viewed & Tops in Households

After 9 days of the 2009 February Sweep (in March), FOX is well out in front in young adult demo, attracting the most A18-49s with 3.90, with CBS in second place at 2.90, ABC sits in third with 2.33, just ahead of NBC in fourth with 2.31. At the bottom are the mini-nets starting with Univision at 1.48, The CW at 0.72, and MyNetworkTV at 0.51.

CBS leads in average households, while FOX is second, ABC is third and NBC fourth. Amongst the mini-nets, Univision is fifth, while The CW is sixth and MyNetworkTV in seventh.

In average P2+ viewers, CBS retains bragging rights as most viewed with a 11,676,000 viewer average, with FOX second, ABC is third and NBC fourth. Univision is fifth, The CW is sixth, and MyNetworkTV just behind in seventh.

CBS and MyNetworkTV are the only networks showing growth in all key measures of A18-49 demo, households and viewers from last years February Sweep. NBC is up in demo, but down in households and viewers, while ABC is down in demo but up in households and viewers. FOX is down by double digits on all measures, but that is due to the 'Super Bowl' being included in FOX's February Sweep numbers last year.

Overall for the seven networks, after six nights A18-49 demo is down -25% from the 'Super Bowl'-inflated Sweep last year, -13% in households and -18% in P2+ viewers.

The data for this and last year are all final Nielsen numbers, except for the last night of this year which is preliminary data. This year, the February Sweep is being held in March due to the DTV changeover, whereas last years February Sweep included the 'Super Bowl' but was also held during the WGA strike which curtailed original product across some of the networks. Comparison of year-over-year Sweep numbers must be viewed within this context. All Sweep calculations incorporate Nielsen final numbers for primetime programming, Monday to Saturday 8-11 pm, and Sunday 7-11 pm. For daytime over-runs into primetime and primetime run-pasts into latenight (e.g. sports coverage, award shows), only the primetime portion of the program numbers have been factored in. For networks that split programs into multiple segments of sustaining and non-sustaining coverage, the rating for the sustaining portion applies to the entire program broadcast.

CBS needs to fix its 9pm hour. Can we bring C2H back? Cool

Dollhouse did go up in viewers but remained flat in demos. Who cares anyway? This show is dead.

It is easy to see the validity of Twin12's argument when comparing the preemption in Charlotte(#32 market) with preemptions in New York City(#1), Baltimore(#22), and Washington DC(#7).
