Medium is still struggling to contend with CSI:Miami reruns.

I wouldn't call beating it in both the households and demo "struggling". Yes, it has struggled up to now, but give them some credit when they do beat it. When CSI:Miami returns with new eps, if they're still beating them, then you can call them a loser. But give them a little credit.

why would medium be a winner??? it loses to csi:miami repeats (ratings) and barely (if that) beats it in the demos...how is that a winner????

a 3.2 demo is not that great...it is nowhere near winner status.

It should be a winner for the same reason that 5th Grader and Lyrics are winners every Thursday. Medium has tremendously improved the time period compared to last year. Last year at this time NBC had Black Donnellys airing and getting 5 million per episode. Plus Medium is up from its Wednesday time period last year. No one is saying that this show will come close to CSI Miami when it returns with new episodes. But it deserves accolades for the above reasons.

it deserves accolades for holding against the bachelor and growing slightly over DOND...but it does not deserve winner status...if that were the case then all of cbs' comedies deserved it...medium is a mediocre performer...and mediocrity does not deserve a winner status period.

If 10 million viewers is not a winner then there really are only a few shows that could ever be a winner.

The demo is the key here. Terminator is doing much better than New Amsterdam in the demo and the demo is what *really* counts for ratings. People can snivel about the reality of that, but they shouldn't deny it. It also isn't logical to talk about how bad FOX was before '24' or Prison Break came along. FOX only needs to be concerned with where FOX is now. In terms of where FOX is now, New Amsterdam is not performing as well as it needs to in order to get renewed for Mondays this Fall. Maybe they could bring it back on Friday if they were ready to take the plunge away from the Reality TV cheapness they went with to start this season.

Once again, you talk as if PD and SCC did as badly as NA, which is simply not the case.

I'm sorry, is this the same PD that had 6.84 people watching its most recent first-run ep, and a 2.4 in the demo?

So, you really don't make any sense.

Somebody sure doesn't. Big Grin

No, we'll see who knows better when SCC returns, and tanks to hell, and gets canceled. As to NA, who gives a flying ****? If you don't care if it gets canceled, neither do I. Big Grin

Do you think they know the difference between <2.5 and >3.0?

Sure. Do you?

I bet the dancing shows outlast the kitchen/restaurant shows.

MEDIUM's biggest achievement is surviving its own network's treatment, but beyond that....

It's 18-49 performance is not that great and growing out of DOND is no big deal

Improving on other NBC failures in the hour is beside the point

Losing to or beating MIAMI reruns is neither here nor there as on the one hand MIAMI reruns well but still leaves plenty of aud on the table for MEDIUM

The show did close to a 3.0 demo last year against CSI NY origs then LOST with JORDAN as a lead in

I wouldn't call MEDIUM ratings mediocre, instead, decent

But, for any fans, the show is still good and I would expect renewal

I think the horrible lead in is really hurting NA. If it had SCC's lead-in and lack of competition, I think NA could be getting ratings at least comparable to SCC.

The BBT/HIMYM time flop worked out well. BBT wasn't really hurt at all and HIMYM did better.

I think it could be doing even better, personally. Where's the old FOX that would yank CL and be showing House reruns next week? ;-)

And it would have an excellent shot at getting canceled in its second season, like SCC.

I'm surprised they don't do just that.

Did DOND runover at the beginning of the hour? The Futon Critic shows Medium having the largest drop in 18-49 at the half-hour (adults 18-49: 3.2, #7, half-hour: -6.06%). The Bachelor only went down by 3.03% while CSI-Miami held steady.

For the last 2 years, you've had two editions of DWtS, then FOX has its summer So You Think You Can Dance, then ABC ads a third Dance Wars.

Now, Lifetime has Your mama Don't Dance and I saw some show on MTV that was a "hipper" dance competiton show.

By the time DWtS hits its fall premiere, you will have had about 24 straight months of Dancing Competitions shows. Will there be viewer burnout on the genre?

The thing that has given AI the legs it has is that it is only on for 5 months of the year and no other show can really do what it does.

it faced a so-so performing reality show and a repeat....the competition was weak...lets see if it can get 10 million next week facing a new csi:miami...

I'd rather have 2 seasons than 1, especially when the first one is only 8 episodes. Wink

I wonder how motivated FOX is to a) saving NA, or b) fixing a schedule that changes in a month anyway.

Really, that would be just one long season. You know, there was a time when less than 30 episodes a season for a drama was considered pretty pathetic.
