Medium deserves praise for building out of DOND in both viewers and the demo, winning the timeslot in total viewers, etc. At the very least an honorable mention...

HIMYM did well with a new timeslot. The stunt casting tells me CBS wants this show to work and I see a renewal in sight. CBS did well pretty much the whole night with comedy shows and should these numbers hold steady across the board I'd be surprised to see any of the 4 get the axe in favor of something new... maybe another midseason launch for Christine?

New Amsterdam ain't done dropping (nor is CL) but deserves praise for growing from the previous hour significantly.

Bachelor should have done more with the DWTS lead-in support.

No need to comment on CW.

Marc, what does it take for you to acknowledge Medium as a winner, in any way? For months, you've been carping about how it should be easily beating CSI:Miami since it's in repeats. Yet, it has been consistently winning the 18-49 demo against CSI:M. And now when it does win the household, (and finish second in the demo for the first time in weeks) you still won't give it any credit.
You can't say that it didn't hold it's lead-in from Deal or No Deal, because it showed only a modest (and I mean MODEST) drop in retention. It actually outperformed DoND in the demo, so what's yer beef with it now?

I agree mediumfan -- I don't watch the the show, but I've noticed what you've been saying and said so on the previous page.

Thanks, Chimera. It's nice to see someone else feels the same way.

Considering that the majority of last night’s programming was original (new episodes of CBS’ two-hour comedy block returned; ABC kicked-off new seasons of Dancing with the Stars and The Bachelor), considerable year-to-year network losses are concerning. Did the recent writers strike cause permanent damage?

They're in the newsletter. Or at least year-to-year losses based on overnights are (which increasingly means nothing).

Medium definitely deserves Honorable Mention status given the shows that were put in there!

It may not be a Monday night show, but I think there is an audience for the program
I agree that New Amsterdam is being hurt by the horrible lead-in. BTW, did that horrible lead-in have a timeslot runover? I tuned in for New Amsterdam and had to sit through the last minute or so of Canterberry's Law. If FOX is willing to look at New Amsterdam for renewal as a Friday night show, it might have a shot. However, if they want to renew it for Mondays, they seem to have several better options already. New Amsterdam simply isn't getting much audience even though it is an entertaining show.

Ah. That does seem to explain it. Silly choice on the producers' part... why not beef up the opening moments with filler instead?

I recorded it last night (first time ever), but didn't watch past the first couple minutes, since it was the men dancing, and I'm only vaguely curious about seeing Yamaguchi and Seles' performances. The female stars seem much more interesting than the men (and I guess the men can't hoof it, based on your review).

Only R&B star Mario showed any natural ability to dance comparable to the better guys from previous seasons, and NFL star Jason Taylor has potential -- the rest were somewhere between Master P and Tucker Carlson, with a bit of Jerry Springer tossed in for good measure.

Tonight, in addition to Yamaguchi and possibly Seles, keep an eye on Shannon Elizabeth, partnerd with Derek Huff.

I disagree. Why should Medium be declared a winner simply for managing to be about even with a repeat on CBS?

As expected, the timeslot switch reveals the same thing that CW failed to learn about Girlfriends vs. The Game. The new show wasn't really stronger, it just had a better timeslot. I think CBS will be encouraged by the numbers, though, and will choose to bring both back with one of them anchoring a new night of comedy.

The new show provided the old show with the best numbers in that 8pm slot in a long time. BBT is the real deal and I really hope it continues to grow. Imagine if CBS would've had two successful sitcoms to air at 8pm this past fall so the promising BBT could've received the post-2.5 Men slot. Still, great numbers for ALL CBS shows.

DWTS: Solid as ever, but it's definitely peaked.

HIMYM: I'm surprised by these numbers. It's been consistently on the bubble, but these numbers are encouraging.

NAOOC: So this and Rules of Engagement get about the same numbers out of a new Two and a Half Men, can RoE hold its own on another night?

Medium: I hope this show gets renewed. Maybe, it can replace ER in the Thursday @ 10 timeslot (with a decent lead-in).

Its not a loser, but its not really a winner either. Its one of those in between. The key last night was that NBC still managed to rebound some with that pathetic My Dad as the lead off show. How about they just slip in Dateline there and shift My Dad to Fridays or Saturdays?

What was 2 1/2's ratings for the last show before the strike? How did it fare compared to that?

If Fox were smart, they'd ship those House repeats to Mondays at 8 for now and air CL after Bones on Fridays. Or move NA to Fridays after House to see what would happen and just burn off CL on Mondays with back to back eps.

Rules... is not ready to be on its own. Remember, its only produced and aired about 17 episodes, so far.
