quote: Capping off 10 p.m. hour was NBC’s Medium (Viewers: #1, 9.89 million; A18-49: #2, 3.2/ 9) and a repeat of CBS’ CSI: Miami (Viewers: #2, 9.66 million; A18-49: #3, 3.0/ 8).
Marc, what does it take for you to acknowledge Medium as a winner, in any way? For months, you've been carping about how it should be easily beating CSI:Miami since it's in repeats. Yet, it has been consistently winning the 18-49 demo against CSI:M. And now when it does win the household, (and finish second in the demo for the first time in weeks) you still won't give it any credit. You can't say that it didn't hold it's lead-in from Deal or No Deal, because it showed only a modest (and I mean MODEST) drop in retention. It actually outperformed DoND in the demo, so what's yer beef with it now?

Although I am not a fan or viewer of the show, New Amsterdams numbers are not half bad when you consider all the factors. New 2.5 Men Premiere of DWtS Premiere of The Bachalor Less than steller leadin It may not be a monday night show, but I think there is an audience for the program

Medium is still struggling to contend with CSI:Miami reruns.

DWTS was on. Older viewers who watched CL last week (remember how incredibly old skewing it was) jumped over to ABC. I do find it hard to believe that with the increased competition, CL managed to completely maintain its demo delivery... but, hey, them's the numbers.

I'm (pleasantly) shocked at HIMYM gaining a full point in the demo over its season premiere in September. And this despite going up against DWTS' biggest half-hour (by the way... why is that? I don't recall other reality shows peaking in the middle... or is it due to facing 2.5 Men?)
I agree about HIMYM's demo -- good sign. As far as DWTS, the performances were mediocre, the worst of any season I can recall, and they were over by 9:15 or so -- the rest was filler, so it's not surprising that a few viewers left to catch 2.5 Men...

Considering that 2 1/2 men ran until 9:31 and Christine didn't face DWTS I would have hoped for a bit better retention. It is still decent though and similar to Rules of Eng. Those numbers for BBT and HIMYM seem high. In the past overnight ratings in the mid 5's would yield numbers in the 8.5-9 mil range so 9.7 seems high. But if those numbers hold I'd be very happy! quote: Originally posted by Tamaleobas: Are those numbers good enough for Chrsitine?

Marc, you may want to include the actual year to year losses someplace quote: -Ratings Breakdown: Considering that the majority of last night’s programming was original (new episodes of CBS’ two-hour comedy block returned; ABC kicked-off new seasons of Dancing with the Stars and The Bachelor), considerable year-to-year network losses are concerning. Did the recent writers strike cause permanent damage?

I agree mediumfan -- I don't watch the the show, but I've noticed what you've been saying and said so on the previous page.

I wouldn't call beating it in both the households and demo "struggling". Yes, it has struggled up to now, but give them some credit when they do beat it. When CSI:Miami returns with new eps, if they're still beating them, then you can call them a loser. But give them a little credit.

Ah. That does seem to explain it. Silly choice on the producers' part... why not beef up the opening moments with filler instead? I recorded it last night (first time ever), but didn't watch past the first couple minutes, since it was the men dancing, and I'm only vaguely curious about seeing Yamaguchi and Seles' performances. The female stars seem much more interesting than the men (and I guess the men can't hoof it, based on your review).
