See I think Hank can do well at least in the fall. I don't think it necessarily goes after Christine. To me, the 9pm comedies aren't going after that crime audience either and I'm not sold Glee (whose pilot was great btw) has a real rosy future in its sights. Eastwick didn't look all that great in the ABC promos but the premise has some promise to it so hopefully they retool. I still think swapping B&S and Eastwick would help ABC out a lot. Agreed though there's a good chance Lost ends up back on Wed. at 9 this midseason with perhaps Happy Town or V joining it (or better yet, both).

Hank isn't that appealing and The Middle is going to have their audience split by Parenthood and Gary Unmarried as they all have comedic family storylines. 9 PM should be stronger, but hampered by strong CBS and NBC competition and Glee on FOX which will pull potential audiences away from ABC. 10 PM with Eastwick will likely be changed by mid-season. Wednesday will show some improvements, particularly at 9 to 10 PM, but still be one of ABC's weaker nights.

The new Parenthood doesn't sound like it will be all that much like the old one. Remember, the old one was a 30 minute sitcom. This is a dramedy. There's an audience for this type of stuff. If there wasn't, ABC wouldn't be competitive today. I think Parenthood and to a lesser extent, Mercy look like great new NBC shows. Not so much about Trauma and Day One. Community and 100 Questions look good too.

This will be 3 straight seasons that NBC will be placing a remake series in the Wed. 8pm slot. I fully expect the results to be the exact same for this 3rd attempt.

The main difference I see here is that Parenthood looks watchable. Knight Rider and Bionic Woman were just painful.

Kind of off topic, but when was the last time CBS cancelled (not ended) a comedy after it made it past its first season?

Good question yankees. I think CBS is willing to give Gary some time.

I think CBS will come out on top Wednesdays at 8pm this season. With all the Christine repeating, I bet both it and Gary Unmarried will be hitting bigger numbers this fall than last. Old Christine is a very funny show.
ABC put Hank at 8pm for a reason. They're obviously thinking this is their worst comedy, and they want it to fail. Come on - Steve McPherson is a big Old Christine fan, isn't he?-lol. He's probably going to be rooting for Old Christine to take the win.
I love Kelsey Grammar and Patty Heaton, and Back to You was a GREAT show, but these 2 comedies are going to have some trouble initially. Modern Family and Cougar Town will probably do better at 9pm. Parenthood could do well at 8pm for NBC, though.
Parenthood and Community are NBC's two greatest chances of having a show last past a season. The one problem with Parenthood though is that it's a very expensive series with the cast attached. The usual 6 to 7 million NBC dramas pull in isn't going to cut it at all. It needs to pull in the 8 to 9 million range at least, which for the buzz attached to the series, is possible.
Day One, Trauma, and Mercy to me look like time fillers. Actually, all of NBC's Monday schedule looks like a time filler, Heroes and Chuck included. They are placed in dump timeslots and Mercy will have to face American Idol at least for a little while. I don't think NBC sees much with these shows.

I think you're phrasing it that way so that the answer won't be King of Queens, am I right? In that case, probably either Still Standing or Yes, Dear?

I think the 9pm comedies will get better numbers because IIRC they have the lead in of Dancing with the Stars: Results Show before their series premieres.

That too. And, they aren't up against any competition that would take away their audience. I still think Old Christine and Gary Unmarried will rebound a bit this fall.

I think your right about Yes, Dear and Still Standing. Didnt they both air on Wednesdays in their final season?
