I watched SS recently on DVR and it aired its best eppy to date as it was mad funny and the chemistry on the show has gotten better. Maybe its audience can grow throughout the summer on Fridays then it can be a replacement for post-Hank during the season as SS needs a boost that fits because one of the three comedies that ABC has on after Hank are goners by mid-season.

SS is definitely a better show than the Goode Family but the audience apparently doesn't care. It's a goner. No way its coming back. As for ABC's Wed. comedies, Hank looks to be the weakest of all 4 quality-wise. Of course, that usually means nothing. The Middle and Modern Family look especially hilarious and I think Cougar Town will have a ready to view audience.

I know. I feel the same way every time a CSI or one of its clones come on CBS. So basically every night of the week. Wink
The only difference being that the CSI's do generate the ratings and large number of viewers.

SW? is just burnoff.

Just because more people watch a show doesn't mean I'd enjoy it anymore.

The ABC Wednesday comedy block, especially the 8 PM ones, are going to face some tough competition in not only the CBS comedies but also NBC's Parenthood. All three blocks are going after the same exact audience. At least one of those networks are going to lose big at 8 PM. If it's ABC, then it's going to be very hard for them to get anything going at 9 PM. I don't think Modern Family or Cougar Town, even with Courtney Cox as a lead, is going to be able to self start. At least not in the beginning.

Talking about 8 PM on Wednesdays, I'm actually surprised NBC didn't counter program. Parenthood would have made more sense Mondays at 9 PM and Trauma Wednesdays at 8 PM. Both could have found unique audiences instead of going up against like shows where the audience is split.

Old Christine and Gary Unmarried are "Tough Competition?"

They are after thought viewing, at best. They only get semi-decent numbers when there is absolutrly nothing else on.

I see the ABC Comedies winning this battle in the fall.

Meh. Most of the shows I watch are watched by others but yes, I do take quality over quantity at times. I actually don't care too much about SW but thought it would be interesting had it returned revamped HIMYM-style. As for Pushing Daisies, I proudly will watch the final episode probably today. The show maybe was too niche for TV, but I still think the acting and writing is some of the best I've seen in a long time.

I do too, at least initially, but there were several times this past season where Christine and Gary were the funniest two comedies on CBS. God knows it isn't male slut Charlie Sheen and many times the BBT and HIMYM were dull (especially in the spring for some reason). CBS was dumb for not trying comedies in another time period. They have no history of successful comedies here and they're not about to make any. If Moonves pulls his head out of his rear end anytime soon, he'll move the NCIS spinoff here and try the comedies on Sundays with TAR and Cold Case. The Mentalist could then stay put on Tuesdays and Three Rivers could be after CSI (where ER aired for years).

They did pull 7 million and a 2 in the demo, which is better than anything ABC has tried in that slot. So they have to be viewed as competition.

I doubt that CBS will ever move The Mentalist off of Thursdays. CBS is very high on the idea of making it the next CSI.

Yes they are competition but not much competition. ABC has a lot of good history Wed. at 8 comedy-wise and I think they could regain that audience. All ABC needs here is a 3 demo in the fall and I think they'll have a nice audience carved out against Idol. If this works, I would like to see them really try with comedies on Tuesdays. If Better off Ted works this summer, it should be the Tuesday 9pm show at midseason with Scubs going at 9:30. Tuesdays at 8 midseason, who knows?

Yes I know. They think it will be the next monster but the thing is the show is as older skewing as NCIS, meaning it will never have the ad revenue that CSI pulled in at its peak.
