Eddie Murphy has not had a hit in 15 years that was not a remake of an older film, with exception of Daddy Daycare.
Norbit was a hit along with the Nutty Professor movies.
The problem with him is that his bombs bomb very very badly, and he's had more than a few of them (Meet Dave, I Spy, Pluto Nash, Showtime, Holy Man...all grossed less than $40 million). Pluto Nash has the distinction of being one of the biggest bombs of all time with a budget of about $100 million (not including prints and advertising) and a total gross of only $7.1 million.

Imagine That is actually a good movie, why it bombed so badly beats me. Murphy should think about making a new Nutty Professor movies, or Norbit 2. Or a straight forward comedy, his SF comedies are the worst bombs of his career

I guess they'll never get/want an NHL then.
The Seattle affiliate apparently never shows the NHL finals games that start at 5 p.m. local time. There cable subscribers can get the (better) coverage provided by CBUT in Vancouver B.C. and in 2007-2008 and presumably this year used their "independent" sister station KONG to air the hockey games. (That's right; KING-KONG, both owned by the Belo Corporation.)
Wasn't it the highest rated non-sports program on the evening and wasn't its lead in below a 1.0? I'd say that's worth talking about.

20/20 did pretty well last night for having such a weak lead in. I'm guessing it was because Adam Lambert was on? Perhaps 20/20 deserves a Honorable Mention.

I'm in Seattle. Hockey's not that big out here. Apparently basketball isn't either as we don't have an NBA team anymore. The hockey game was shown on the sister affiliate. Not sure why? I thought it had been on NBC in the past.
I was watching DFTL.
I didn't know Samantha Who was on or I would have watched that too. I have missed the last several eps and I liked watching that show.
We're a little shy of two and a half weeks before the start of the critical July Sweep where the networks, ad agencies and FCC will be poring over the results to determine broadcast network and affiliate household and audience shrinkage due to the DTV switchover.

The Friday SW eps are repeats. New eps on Thursdays at 8/7c after the NBA Finals get over.
Congrads to the NHL on a big night for them and its highest ratings in many years. The demo ratings were far up there and when hockey is a beast then its a real beast. The sport is on the rise and now they have two teams who can be ratings contributors in the Wings and Pens. Next to follow suit will be the Hawks and Caps. I still can't believe they got 9 million viewers.
As for ABC, for some odd reason, I still think Surviving Suburbia can be saved. Its the better of the two between Goode Family but that's not saying much as the rating is horrible. I watched SS recently on DVR and it aired its best eppy to date as it was mad funny and the chemistry on the show has gotten better. Maybe its audience can grow throughout the summer on Fridays then it can be a replacement for post-Hank during the season as SS needs a boost that fits because one of the three comedies that ABC has on after Hank are goners by mid-season.

But, The Nutty Professor is a remake movie from the 60's. A little know comedian name Jerry Lewis was in the original.

No. Murphy needs to get out of the "Family Movie" genre and get back to his roots of great edgy comedy. Trading Places, 48 Hours, Beverly Hills Cop, etc.
Perhaps he needs to get with Will Ferrel and do a Old School style comedy.

Oh, I'll be holding my breath in anticipation...... NOT.
I'm about Old Schooled out. Those comedies have been coming in at very steady rates for about 4 years now. Most have been at least alright but many lately have been downright stupid. I was really hesitant to see the Hangover. Thankfully it was a good movie. Ferrel basically plays the same character in every movie he's in. About time he had a flop with Land of the Lost.
