Note: Any prior rating results are based on the final nationals. Since the level of DVR penetration has increased from 20 percent at this same point last year to approximately 28 percent at present, the overall results may be negatively impacted.

-Friday’s Winners: The Stanley Cup Finals, Game 7 (NBC)
-Friday’s Losers (excluding repeats): Surviving Suburbia (ABC), The Goode Family (ABC), Don’t Forget the Lyrics (Fox)

-Ratings Breakdown: NBC reigned supreme on this second Friday in June, with the seventh (and final) game of The Stanley Cup Finals at an above-average 7.51 million viewers and a 3.0 rating/11 share among adults 18-49 from 8-11 p.m. in primetime. Personally, I have no recollection of a hockey game ever rating this high. Take a look at the half-hour breakdown:
The Stanley Cup Finals, Game 7 (NBC) 8:00 p.m.: Viewers: 5.78 million (#1), A18-49: 2.2/ 9 (#1) 8:30 p.m.: Viewers: 6.37 million (#1), A18-49: 2.5/10 (#1) 9:00 p.m.: Viewers: 7.27 million (#1), A18-49: 2.9/11 (#1) 9:30 p.m.: Viewers: 7.55 million (#1), A18-49: 3.1/10 (#1) 10:00 p.m.: Viewers: 9.01 million (#1), A18-49: 3.7/12 (#1) 10:30 p.m.: Viewers: 9.07 million (#1), A18-49: 3.7/12 (#1)
Lackluster ABC opened the evening with its revised combination of sitcoms Surviving Suburbia (Viewers: #4, 2.87 million; A18-49: #4, 0.6/ 3), which is waiting for the axe to officially swing, and animated dud The Goode Family (Viewers: #4, 1.82 million; A18-49: #4, 0.5/ 2 – series low). The Goode Family, in fact, could be the worst performance ABC has ever delivered in the Friday 8:30 p.m. half-hour in the history of the network! Next on ABC were two episodes of canceled Samantha Who? (Viewers: #4, avg. 2.38 million; A18-49: #4, avg. 0.7/ 3 from 9-10 p.m.) and veteran newsmagazine 20/20 (Viewers: #2, 5.98 million; A18-49: #2, 1.6/ 5 at 10 p.m.), which featured American Idol winner Adam Lambert.
Elsewhere, CBS aired repeats of dramas Ghost Whisperer (Viewers: #2, 5.19 million; A18-49: #3, 1.1/ 4), Flashpoint (Viewers: #2, 5.46 million; A18-49: #2, 1.0/ 4) and Numb3rs (Viewers: #3, 5.48 million; A18-49: #3, 1.0/ 3). Don’t forget that NBC’s former Medium steps into the Friday 9 p.m. hour on CBS next season. Flashpoint returns in midseason.
Fox ran its combination of game show Don’t Forget the Lyrics (Viewers: #3, 3.81 million; A18-49: #2, 1.2/ 5) and a repeat of drama Mental (Viewers: #3, 2.60 million; A18-49: #3, 0.8/ 3). And the CW capped off Friday with repeats of its canceled line-up of Privileged (Viewers: 936,000; A18-49: 0.3/ 1), Everybody Hates Chris (Viewers: 938,000; A18-49: 0.3/ 1) and The Game (Viewers: 989,000; A18-49: 0.4/ 1), which finished last in every half-hour. Considering Privileged ended with a cliffhanger, too bad the network did not order a second season.
To whet your appetite for next fall, here is the upcoming Friday line-up:
ABC 8:00 p.m. Supernanny (new time) 9:00 p.m. Ugly Betty (new day and time) 10:00 p.m. 20/20
CBS 8:00 p.m. Ghost Whisperer 9:00 p.m. Medium (new network, new day and time) 10:00 p.m. Numbr3s
NBC 8:00 p.m. Law & Order (new day and time) 9:00 p.m. Southland (new day and time) 10:00 p.m. The Jay Leno Show (new)
Fox 8:00 p.m. Brothers (new) 8:30 p.m. ‘Til Death (return) 9:00 p.m. Dollhouse
The CW 8:00 p.m. Smallville (new day) 9:00 p.m. America’s Next Top Model (R)

Those are very good numbers. The 10pm hour had a great demo! CONGRATS PENGUINS!
Fantastic ratings for NBC on a Friday. Might be the most watched show of the week for NBC. If not the most watched, close to it.

20/20 did pretty well last night for having such a weak lead in. I'm guessing it was because Adam Lambert was on? Perhaps 20/20 deserves a Honorable Mention.
Wow those are amazing numbers for the Game 7. 9 million viewers at 10pm? I don't think its ever been even close to that, EVER. What a game, though. And those last 6 minutes were probably the most exciting 6 minutes of the NHL this season. What a game.
I forgot all about Surviving Suburbia last night. At least it did better than The Goode Family. ABC needs to promote this, because it could actually have a chance at doing some okay summer ratings. Has anyone noticed Lyrics has been rising very steadily over the last 4 episodes?
Eddie Murphy has not had a hit in 15 years that was not a remake of an older film, with exception of Daddy Daycare. To think this was once one of the great all-time young comedians.

That sucks. Eddie Murphy is in desperate need of a hit.
... And if you haven't already done so, you can enter the PIF 2009 Summer Project by clicking here. All you have to do is create your own TV show! It's great fun, so why not give it a go? There's still plenty of time to enter.

He did more than ok with the Shrek Movies and with Dreamgirls. What he needs to do is stay away from the 'family comedies' that are not animated...and that is true for most all the rest of the comedians in the business as well.
In other movie news...Up looks like it is going to become the #1 film in the US for 2009 (at least until Harry Potter overtakes it).
